A magical journey that begins in Azkaban
Chapter 4 Calling for God’s Guard
"A letter doesn't mean anything? Maybe Principal Dumbledore made a mistake in writing it." Rita took the envelope and checked it carefully. It was correct. It was the admission notice to Hogwarts.
"I admit that Dumbledore is a fool, but he does not represent Hogwarts. The Hogwarts Book of Admission will never go wrong!" Paul shocked Rita by banging the table.
"So what, have you seen that child? In a place like this, Death Eaters would become idiots, let alone a baby. According to my investigation, the child named Roger was under the Imperius Curse." Rita He asked calmly, hoping to get more information out of Paul.
"I...I..." Paul was at a loss for words. Of course he had seen that child and beat him frequently.
Paul rolled his eyes. These things must not be told to the outside world. Otherwise, he would not be a kind-hearted administrator of Azkaban, but a criminal who abuses children.
"Ms. Rita, his name is Roger. I assure you that he grew up healthy in Azkaban! His mind is normal, and he even learned to read under the guidance of his mother."
"Roger? Mr. Paul, I can't just use a name to report it, right? You know, it's just like John and Tom. It won't be convincing if I publish it in the newspaper. Do you agree with this?"
"Wait for me, Miss Rita! I, I have a personnel list. I can find out his last name! I can also prove that he is not on the prisoner list!" Paul was a little flustered. Why did the damn little Death Eater never put his name on the list? Tell yourself the last name!
He took down a thick, dusty volume from the bookcase and forgot to use the spell.
"Rogg, Rogge...Rogge..." Paul flipped through the book several times, filtering through the list line by line with his fingers, but there was no child named Roger.
"Look, there's no him!" He smiled happily at Rita, which showed that it was illegal detention by the Ministry of Magic. But before he could grin, Rita spoke back with another sentence.
"Oh, isn't my name on it and I was also illegally detained by the Ministry of Magic?"
"Don't you know he was brought in by his mother?" Rita looked at Paul with disdain. Such an idiot deserved to stay in Azkaban for the rest of his life.
Stupid, impulsive, and I don't know where the courage comes from, I want to step on the Ministry of Magic and earn gold galleons. Maybe it's because his head is as empty as the troll's.
"Yes, yes, Jessica!"
"Found it! You see, Jessica Travis and Buck Travis are both Death Eaters who follow the mysterious man."
Rita nodded, used the cleaning technique and turned the thick book over.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, the Travis family is all in Azkaban. No wonder the Ministry of Magic swears that all prisoners have been vetted." Rita motioned her quill to start recording. The Ministry of Magic illegally violated the law for Travis' family property. Imprisoned the innocent heir to the Travis family: a baby named Roger.
"Miss Rita, what do you mean?"
"Hmph, think about it with your head. Most of the people who follow the mysterious man are pure-blood wizards. Travis, haven't you heard of this family?"
"Of course I know, one of the twenty-eight sacred tribes."
"Yes, a magical family that has been passed down for thousands of years, what a huge wealth that is. If Malfoy had not paid a huge compensation, do you think he could be found not guilty? Ministry of Magic? Haha!"
"In that case, why did little Barty..."
"Barty Crouch Jr.? Maybe because he caused his father to lose his position as Minister of Magic."
"All Muggles know that a tiger's poison cannot eat its seeds. Our upright former Director of Law Enforcement, His Excellency Barty Crouch, is not even willing to pay a gold galleon. His reputation is more important than his son."
Rita was talking about the old Barty who sent Jessica and her son to Azkaban. Perhaps it was retribution because his own son was also a Death Eater. He was eventually sentenced to life imprisonment and was also imprisoned in Azkaban.
Barty Crouch Jr. died in 1982.
"I didn't expect him to be dead. I remember Mrs. Crouch also died this year." Rita flipped through the roster with interest, and there were names on it that were either familiar or unfamiliar.
She kept flipping through the roster, as if exploring the deep secrets of Azkaban. This intoxicating feeling made Rita's body feel slightly hot.
"Mr. Paul, let's go meet the new student from Azkaban, in the name of Principal Dumbledore." Rita shook the envelope with a charming smile on her face.
Her joy attracted the covetousness of the dementors, and Rita became even more excited when she looked at the ugly and evil magical creatures around her. She had already thought of an article titled "The Ministry of Magic's Sinful Deal with Dementors."
"Miss Rita, it's time for us to go."
"Don't be anxious, Paul." Rita was particularly patient and used her camera to take various photos of Azkaban, including Mr. Paul who managed it.
"I...I should change my clothes..." Paul blushed. To be honest, he hadn't taken a photo in more than ten years.
"We don't have enough film. Please forgive me. The rest will be left to Jessica and her son." Rita put down the camera and flatly refused to take pictures of Paul again.
"Of course, of course!" Paul nodded quickly, it didn't matter if he took two less photos.
"The environment is too bad, please don't worry about it."
"It's nothing." Rita smiled, which was not a polite statement. As an illegal animagus, what hasn't she seen when she turned into a beetle?
"Strange, how can there be light?" Paul saw a bright light shining in the cell door at the end of the corridor, which was the cell of Jessica and her son. Rita stopped him and motioned for him to be quiet.
Paul frowned, where the hell did the little guy get the wand. If you want to escape! Paul's heart was shaking up and down in panic, and he wanted to rush in now.
"But, Miss Rita. You must know that they have all had their wands confiscated, so logically there should be no light!"
"Maybe wandless casting."
"It's impossible, the dementors will drain their souls, and they won't be able to cast spells at all."
"Shh, keep your voice down." Rita walked over quietly and asked Paul to open the window on the cell door.
In the small cell, Roger and his mother Jessica cuddled together. They talked about the future and hopes, and the cold and dark cell was full of warmth. Those dementors who hated happiness and hope came after smelling the smell, and the faceless monster stood in front of them, staring at them greedily.
Rogge held Jessica's hand and stood in front of the dementors without hesitation. Silvery white light bloomed in front of him, like an indestructible barrier, preventing the dementors from getting close.
"Oh my God! Call for divine protection!" Rita quickly picked up the camera and took a picture of the dementors driven away by the silver light.
Rogge looked at the departing dementors and fainted in Jessica's arms. Jessica held her son tightly, sobbing softly and humming a ballad in the corner.
"Twinkle twinkle little stars, how I wonder where you are……"
The first time she heard Roger calling her mother, Jessica used this song to comfort her son. She caressed the fainted child and liked that she could wake him up. Rita at the door couldn't help but shed tears. She must do something for the mother and son.
"I'm so touched!" Rita shed tears and picked up a handkerchief to wipe the corners of her eyes.
"Who?" Jessica heard the movement outside and hid her son in her arms.
"Jessica, don't be nervous. My name is Rita, Rita Skeeter, a reporter for the Daily Prophet. Can I help you?"
"Rita?"
"It's me, do you recognize this? Your son's admission notice. Now, you need a report, a report that can save you."
"I know you." Jessica fell silent listening to Rita's voice outside the door. She thought of this witch who was very good at using words to make things right and wrong.
Jessica looked down at her thin son and understood that Paul was sending the letter to the woman in front of her. If he wants to leave here, he will abuse his son. In the darkness, Jessica stared at Paul next to Rita through the moist sea fog.
"Okay, but you can't take pictures of my son."
"Of course..." Rita felt a little regretful that the light of the God-calling Guard had blocked Rogge's face just now, but there would be another chance in the future.
