A treasure-appraisal maniac
Chapter 485 He Xiangu
After a boring day and night of cleaning but nothing was found, the atmosphere down in the cellar was inevitably a bit depressing.
At this moment, good news came from Wang Xinlei.
This is a paulownia wood box wrapped in animal skin. The surface of the animal skin has been highly decayed and has become mottled.
The solid wood box was also severely decayed, but its overall shape remained intact. This meant that the box was not damaged after the cargo ship sank and came to rest. This made Lu Fei very excited.
Asking Wang Xinlei to step aside, Lu Fei took care of the cleaning himself.
Cleaning such a box also requires skills. The debris around the box must not be removed, otherwise the highly rotten wood may collapse at any time due to lack of support, causing fatal damage to the contents inside.
In this case, you can only start from the top of the box and carefully remove the fragments pressed on top.
Although Lu Fei was extra cautious, when he was halfway through cleaning, a hole the size of an egg collapsed on the top of the box. A moldy and rotten smell spread out from the hole, making Lu Fei's little heart skip a beat.
I took a flashlight and punched it through the hole. In the dark space, I saw a hint of orchid reflection, which made me very excited.
Half an hour later, the surface of the box was finally completely cleared.
The lid of the box is sixty centimeters wide and about one meter long, which was the standard size of official cargo boxes in the Song Dynasty.
In addition to the holes made by Lu Fei, there are two collapses on the surface, but the areas are not very large, and large pieces of broken porcelain cannot fall down at all.
The difficulty now is how to open the lid of the box.
Visual inspection revealed that the thickness of the box lid was more than two centimeters, and the wood was completely in bad shape. It would turn into crumbs with the slightest touch, and turn into fly ash if it was lightly crushed.
If you open it rashly, the lid will break into pieces and fall during the unpacking process, with disastrous consequences.
After half an hour of research, we brainstormed and finally decided on a plan.
Find a piece of sturdy canvas, apply a layer of quick-drying super glue on it, and lightly attach it to the surface of the lid.
Just like a windshield, a protective film is added to the solid wood cover.
\u003c
br\u003e Even if the cover suddenly breaks, it will be caught by the protective film and will not fall off easily.
Then open a small gap in the lid, stick a thin iron plate in, and use the bottom of the lid as a support.
This idea is perfect and foolproof.
Just do it.
When everything was ready, we took action immediately without hesitation. Facts have proved that everyone's decision-making was completely effective.
Ten minutes later, the wooden box that had been covered in dust for thousands of years was finally opened successfully. Except for a few broken pieces falling out, everything was perfect.
When the inner space of the box was revealed to everyone again after a thousand years, everyone present was excited.
"Dharma image!"
"Oh my god, it's actually an image of Dharma!"
Lu Fei was the first to shout excitedly.
The eight Longquan porcelain statues of immortals inside the box are the Eight Immortals of Taoism.
Eight Dharma statues were half buried in the black mud.
The black sludge is the straw used to fill the container to stabilize the statue. After thousands of years of decay and water seepage, it has turned into a pile of sludge.
It is precisely because of this mud that the eight Dharma statues have been perfectly preserved. This is simply a miracle.
Lu Fei gently peeled away the mud and personally took out one of the Dharma statues.
After brushing off the mud on the statue bit by bit and seeing clearly the golden body of the statue, Lu Fei frowned and exclaimed.
"He Xiangu?"
"How can this be?"
After being stunned for two seconds, Lu Fei laughed wildly.
"Hahaha"
"This is actually He Xiangu?"
"This Dharma statue turns out to be He Xiangu!
"
"Hahaha"
"This is a national treasure, a real national treasure!"
"Having this Dharma statue is enough to overturn history."
"Who said that there is no He Xiangu among the Eight Immortals of the Yuan and Song Dynasties? Who said that?"
"With this statue of Dharma, who the hell dares to say that the Eight Immortals of the Yuan and Song Dynasties don't have He Xiangu?"
Lu Fei's smile made everyone around him laugh.
Gao Yuan asked softly.
"Brother, what's wrong with you?"
"What on earth are you talking about!"
Lu Fei held the Dharma statue tightly in his arms, giggled at Gao Yuan, and said excitedly.
"Brother Gao, this is He Xiangu!"
"I know, didn't you just say that?"
"But what did you say next? What do you mean by history and the like? You're going to go fucking crazy, you know?" Gao Yuan said.
Lu Fei sat on the ground holding the Dharma statue and explained it to everyone.
Before the Ming Dynasty, there were different opinions on who the Eight Immortals were.
There are the Eight Immortals of the Han Dynasty, the Eight Immortals of the Tang Dynasty, and the Eight Immortals of the Song and Yuan Dynasties. The immortals listed are all different.
Historians and archaeological experts now agree that the Eight Taoist Immortals of the Yuan and Song Dynasties were Chen Qizi, Liu Haichan, Jing Zhichang, Yao Daozhen, Mayi Taoist, Guo Shangzao, He Changyi and Lao Muxianweng.
The eight immortals Han Zhongli, Zhang Guolao, Han Xiangzi, Tieguaili, Lu Dongbin, He Xiangu, Lan Caihe and Cao Guojiu are based on "Journey to the East" written by Wu Yuantai of the Ming Dynasty.
It is precisely because of the appearance of "Journey to the East" that modern academic circles unanimously believe that these eight immortals have been regarded as the Eight Immortals of Taoism since the Ming Dynasty.
Now the discovery of He Xiangu in Lu Fei's arms is enough to overturn history and make the big guys in the academic world shut up their noble and ignorant mouths.
Tell them that among the Eight Immortals of Taoism in the Northern Song Dynasty,
There is no such thing as the existence of fairy aunt.
Therefore, the value of this statue has exceeded the antique porcelain itself. It represents a new historical significance and is a well-deserved national treasure.
This statue is twenty-two centimeters high.
The shape is that of He Xiangu sitting on a mountain stone base, with two long braids tied behind her head and a kind face.
Look straight ahead with your eyes, hold a load in your left hand and place it on your right shoulder, support your knees with your right hand, cross your feet and hang to the ground, with a leisurely and lifelike expression.
The skin area is boldly made using astringent technology, and the protective glaze applied is very thin, giving the skin a light, natural texture.
Only very thick protective glaze can be applied to the exposed parts such as the skin of the statue, causing the statue's face, chest and other exposed parts to appear red or dark red.
This kind of glaze color represents the most superb skills of Longquan kiln in the Song Dynasty, which has strict requirements on the temperature and fire control of the kiln.
Once it is not handled properly, all the utensils in the kiln will be useless.
White-bodied thick-glazed celadon clay also uses a binary formula of porcelain stone and purple gold soil, but the amount of purple gold clay is less, the color of the body is white with gray, and the unglazed parts of the product are vermilion red.
Although multiple glazing and multiple biscuit firing techniques are also used with lime alkali glaze, the aluminum and calcium content in the glaze is lower than that of Ge Kiln celadon. Since the expansion coefficients of the body and glaze are close, most products have no cracks in the glaze layer and the body is white. Thin, with a "cinnabar bottom" at the bottom and exposed areas.
Against the background of the white body, the glaze color is green and soft, with the pinkish green like light blue lake water and the delicate plum green being the best after the rain, followed by emerald green and pea green, and other glaze colors are even worse, with yellowish and tinted colors. Those who are gray are inferior.
The top grade has a thin body and thick glaze, rich in jade texture. It is decorated with carving, molding and molding, with clear patterns.
The carcass is carved with bamboo knives to create flexible and smooth decorations such as flowers, moving clouds, swimming fish, reeds, wild geese, and babies playing. There are also auxiliary patterns such as grating patterns, water ripples, flowers and leaves, etc. After the glaze is applied, a deep green glaze is formed on the carved areas.
It can be said that the body, glaze color and firing process of this magical instrument all represent the highest level at that time, and it is the best among the Longquan porcelain products of the Song Dynasty.
