Chapter 1 Encounter in the Snow

The cold wind blew in my face, as sharp as a knife, making me feel painful.

It was pitch black in front of me. The night sky hung high in the sky. There was no moon or stars. The dark clouds covered the sky, and not even a ray of light could penetrate.

The biting cold wind was as fierce as a waterfall, carrying large flakes of snow.

It was covered with silver everywhere. It had snowed for several days and had covered the whole earth. The dark soil was sleeping under the blanket made of snow, as if even the earth was oppressed and couldn't raise its head.

"Hu... Hu..."

On the boundless snowfield, a thin figure staggered in the snow.

He was only wearing a white linen robe, without even an extra piece of warm clothes. His figure was visibly thin. He walked lightly and heavily in the snow, holding his shoulders with both hands. The biting cold wind and snow made him tremble.

The figure was so fragile that it seemed like it could fall apart at any moment, and it was even surprising how he could still be alive at this moment.

Behind him was an endless snowfield.

In front of him was only the endless wind and blizzard.

No one knew why he was here, in this heavy snow with no village in front and no land behind, without a companion around him, and without even decent clothes on his body, walking alone in the deadly blizzard.

The boy took one step at a time, struggling and walking slowly.

His breathing was extremely heavy, and the cold air poured into his lungs in big mouthfuls. The white mist was exhaled from his mouth one section after another, and then quickly froze.

The alternating cycle of cold and hot stimulated his senses, keeping him awake for a short and hazy time.

He no longer remembered how long he had walked in this snowfield.

He only remembered that he had not stopped since he stepped into this snowfield in the evening, and at this time, it was probably late at night, or perhaps early in the morning, and the temperature had almost dropped to freezing point.

The thin white robe rustled in the cold wind, clinging to his sickly pale skin.

He hugged his arms and rubbed them constantly, trying to find some warmth, but his face had already turned ashen, and his body temperature had dropped to a numb level, and he could hardly even feel the cold, and even his eyes became difficult to open, but a faint warmth continued to flow out of his bones.

He would surely die if he continued like this, but he had no choice.

He walked in the snow for most of the day, not to mention villages and towns, he didn't even see a living person, not even a wild animal, and there were no birds in the sky.

All he saw were dry branches and occasional white bones.

It was as if he was the only one left in the world, and a strong sense of loneliness spread from the bottom of his heart.

There was no one living anywhere.

Recognizing this fact, a deep sense of powerlessness surged from the bottom of his heart.

There was no need to struggle anymore, and it was meaningless to continue. It would be better to change to an easy choice and freeze to death in this ice and snow.

Humans prefer easy choices over trouble. In this case, no one will laugh at him. Everyone is like this, and everyone will understand. After all, there is no one here.

"Ha... ha..."

He walked on the snow, his breath became heavier, and he left footprints with every step.

Wherever his feet passed, there were traces of blood.

He had no shoes on his feet, not even a cloth to wrap his feet. His skin was exposed to the cold wind, enduring the sharp snowflakes like a knife. The skin on his feet had already frozen and cracked, and warm blood flowed out of it, making the snowflakes stained with enchanting and sad colors.

In this blizzard, it was a miracle that he could hold on until now.

At this time, stopping was a very easy choice for him.

As long as he stopped, he would not have to endure the torture anymore and would be relieved.

But his steps were still slowly and firmly engraved on the ground.

Although he was getting slower and slower, weaker and weaker, and his consciousness was getting more and more hazy, his steps still did not stop for a moment.

No one knew where his destination was.

Just like no one knows why he is so stubborn.

"Roar!"

Suddenly there was a vibration in the air, an extremely powerful vibration, accompanied by a low roar like an illusion.

He stopped, his eyes slightly dilated, and the subconscious sense of crisis made him sober up for a short time.

On the endless snowfield in front of him, a dark shadow appeared at some point.

It was a beast.

No, it might not just be a beast. It had a wolf-like appearance, but a mouth full of zombie-like disordered fangs. It was a circle larger than a lion, with strong muscles with clear contours, and beastly eyes emitting a creepy red light. The eyes revealed a bloodthirsty desire nakedly, and the four hooves grasped the ground tightly, and the slightly crawling posture showed the aggressiveness of the predator.

It didn't look like a beast at all, but was full of demonic nature.

It was like a demon beast.

There was no rationality, only the chaotic instincts of cruelty, bloodthirstiness, and thirst for blood.

A strong sense of crisis surged into his mind, and his confused consciousness returned in an instant. He subconsciously wanted to make a fighting gesture, but his weak and limitless body was not under his command at all.

He clenched his teeth unconsciously.

Is this the end?

Nothing has started yet!

"Roar!!"

The monster was already hungry, and its scarlet eyes saw through his dying struggle at this moment. It could no longer bear it, roared, kicked the ground with four hooves, and rushed towards him.

In just a blink of an eye, the monster came close to him at a speed beyond the limit of human beings, leaving no time for people to react.

He could even see the instinct of pleasure flashing in the monster's eyes.

He wanted to hide, but it was too late. He could only stare and watch the ferocious fangs open in front of him, getting closer and closer--

"Buzz--!"

At this moment, a dazzling light lit up in front of his eyes.

It was a domineering light, coming from a distance, occupying his entire field of vision, as bright as the long-lost sun.

After the light disappeared, the ferocious fangs disappeared, leaving only half of the monster's body lying on the ground, gurgling out dark magic blood and seeping into the snow.

"Is that you?"

In a trance, a figure broke into his sight ostentatiously.

It was a rose-like woman, with long blood-red hair flying in the snow. She cast a powerful gaze over and looked down at the thin boy.

The boy could no longer respond to her.

After escaping death, his consciousness finally fell into darkness.
