After the Fairy Disappeared
: Nine Party Tea Party 5: Polarization
Nine Party Tea Party 5: Polarization
Aha, today’s issue is still a casual chat, let’s talk about what every author can’t avoid—
Word of mouth!
As the plot and word count slowly expanded, the operation reminded me several times: The word-of-mouth of "Immortal" on the Internet began to show polarization.
If you like it, you can’t wait to hold it up to the sky;
It's annoying, I can't wait to throw it on the ground and step on it.
But this is actually a good thing, because "Immortal" received mostly negative reviews in the four months after its release, that is to say, the latter type is more; but as the readership grows, the number of people who like it is also rising rapidly. Now it has finally reached 50-50.
At first, Jiufang felt very strange.
I haven’t encountered this kind of problem in the previous three old books. The most common feedback from readers is that the pace of reading is too slow, or there are occasional disputes in the plot. These are normal discussions.
But like now, people say that my writing is too bad, that my writing is too simple, that I don’t know how to write fairy tales, and the more I read it, the more angry I want to grab the keyboard and teach me how to write...
Emmm, it can only be said that everyone is not in the same channel.
So around this book, there will always be fierce and strange quarrels.
All friends who like "Xianren" and try their best to recommend "Xianren" to others, Jiufang thank you.
When what you like has not yet become mainstream, it takes courage to firmly believe that you have unique insight.
After all, most people go with the flow.
The aesthetics of most people, whether readers or writers, can be guided, assimilated and changed.
In this era of convergence of everything, if you want to firmly believe that you are not wrong, you have to bear pressure and criticism.
I am a very malleable author, I can gossip or follow trends. In the age of industrialization, what can't be mass-produced? Moreover, it is not so easy to write a cool article that has become a "volume within a volume". The masters here have their own secret methods and experience.
But I believe in two things:
Good things must be able to stand the test of time.
A good author should grow up with his own works.
If you extract all the pleasing elements and place them in modules, it will be a routine.
If you only use routines to write, it doesn’t matter if you write more or less, it’s nothing more than the arrangement and combination of modules. In the end, you only gain proficiency—
And money.
Of course, many readers are not disgusted with this set, or say they are disgusted, but they are actually very honest, because path dependence has been formed, new and strange things are not used to them, and finally they return to the old way.
It seems that everyone is happy, the reader spends time, and the author makes money.
But it doesn't match my original intention.
I came to the starting point to prove the Tao, to seek innovation and change. If you just lie flat in your comfort zone, how can you break the ceiling of your own writing?
I wrote four books, each with a different theme and style because I was in a different frame of mind when I wrote it. Among them, "Immortal" has the highest jumping speed.
In the book, it is the growth process of the protagonist who slays demons and demons all the way.
Outside the book, it is the author's bumpy and thorny road to enlightenment.
Both of us focus on facing difficulties, bravely and diligently:)
The difference is that the author is the **** of this book, and we all know that young master He's hard work will have good results in the end; but the author lives in reality, and heaven will not tell me whether my direction is correct or not, and my efforts Can it be exchanged for success.
Effort and success are not in a one-to-one positive correlation in reality, let alone a causal relationship.
This is also a choice that every author faces:
Definite word of mouth, or uncertain future?
My choice is the latter.
It is now 2023, and this year's fashion is lying flat, laying bad, and dogging. These ethos have penetrated into online articles and even become a trend.
However, if the author is not willing to take risks and grow up with the protagonist, how can this book be attractive?
As for whether the writing is good or not, will it be accepted by the majority in the end—
Leave it to the time.
So looking back at the previous question, why is the word-of-mouth of "Immortal" polarized?
Seems understandable again, right?
