Xu Xian felt as though the past few months had been a dream.

He was just a poor, stinky teacher, a struggling scholar who couldn't even afford decent writing materials, yet an unexpected marriage had fallen into his lap – a young lady from a wealthy family.

Then his life took a dramatic turn, going from barely making ends meet to sudden wealth and status, his wife even funding the opening of Baoantang Pharmacy.

All scholars held a belief: if not a great minister, then a great physician. After studying for over a decade and teaching children for several years, Xu Xian couldn't claim to have mastered all the knowledge in the books, but he certainly knew them by heart.

He had taken the imperial examinations twice, failing both times. Although his family was still supportive, Xu Xian himself had lost the drive. Xu Xian refrained from asking about the silver taels. Bai Suzhen started to explain several times, but Xu Xian stopped her each time.

He quietly pushed open the door and walked into the courtyard, discovering that his wife and Xiaoqing's voices were coming from the back residence. The two were playing in the pool, and their silvery laughter echoed constantly.

Xu Xian breathed a sigh of relief, thinking to himself, 'That blind Taoist is indeed a swindler, saying that my wife is strange. Isn't he trying to provoke our marital relationship? The next time I see him, I must scold him properly!'
