When Jim Gordon arrived, Bruce was still in self-doubt, wondering why their conversations always ended like this. Was it that he wasn't expressing himself clearly, or was the matter itself inherently unreasonable?

"Bruce, I need your help!"

Jim didn't have time to delay and went straight to the point.

"If it's within my power!" Bruce nodded, a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

"The Revenge Foundation's activities must be stopped! They are already disrupting order. Do you know how many people died last night? Twenty-seven! And that's just the bodies the police were able to find. What about those that haven't been found? The number is countless! This must be stopped!"

Jim's expression was serious; he meant what he said.

"I really want to help you, but there's nothing I can do!" Bruce said with a wry smile.

"I don't know how much you remember from our last conversation, but you once promised to catch the real culprit who killed my parents. But the Revenge Foundation is proving to be one step ahead. Besides the illusory Court of Owls, they have once again uncovered a conspiracy!"

Bruce shook his head and handed over the folder on the table.

"To verify what they said, I had someone investigate Wayne Enterprises' stock situation before my parents were killed. I discovered that before their deaths, someone already knew that Wayne Enterprises' stock would plummet. They secretly sold off most of their shares, avoiding financial losses.

And after my parents were buried, they bought the stock back. What does this mean? Their attack on my parents was premeditated!"

"Who? Who did it?" Jim frowned.

"Many people! Too many. There are hundreds of companies and foundations involved. They acted very discreetly, barely affecting anyone. The Court of Owls is very careful; they never show their faces, never issue orders directly.

But the other two left behind far more traces. Even I can find them, let alone the Revenge Foundation. If you want to stop them, it's better to talk directly to the Revenge Foundation. She just left a while ago!"

"She? It's a woman? What's her name!"

"She calls herself Alice, with no surname. She's a well-dressed, strong career woman."

A scene flashed through Jim's mind: a girl getting into a black Mercedes-Benz and driving away as he arrived.

The girl even gave him a smile. Although Jim was amazed by her beauty, he wisely didn't disturb her.

So it was her!

Jim suddenly stood up and rushed out.

Ever since Thomas Wayne died, the atmosphere in Gotham had become strange. On the surface, it seemed like nothing had changed; people still sang and danced, and the sky was still covered in clouds, with hardly any clear days throughout the year.

The daytime was smoggy, and the nighttime was as silent as a graveyard. Those who were active in the dark were either homeless wretches or scum out to make a living.

But discerning people could see that the balance had been broken, and chaos would come sooner or later.

And among these people, one of the most outstanding was the young Penguin.

He used to be a subordinate of Fish Mooney, but he was executed for informing on her.

Penguin came up with a way to save his life in the shortest amount of time, which was to involve Jim Gordon.

The plan proceeded as he wished, as if he could see the future.

Jim's sense of justice meant that he ultimately didn't act, and Penguin escaped. After wandering around in the sea, he returned to Gotham.

His plan was perfect. He found out in advance about the Romanis, a rival family to the Falcones, and their hideout restaurant, and used some tricks to replace a dishwasher.

At first, Penguin behaved very obediently, just like a truly timid young man.

But what happened next directly changed his status and position dramatically.

After finding out about Romano's debt collection schedule, he used his familiarity with Gotham to directly organize a group of robbers and steal all of Romano's cash.

He and his men killed everyone in the restaurant, except for himself, who survived in the cold storage room hugging a pile of money.

And it was with this pile of money that Penguin went directly from being a dishwasher to the restaurant manager.

He had officially entered Romano's inner circle.

Although his plan was not progressing quickly, it was being completed step by step. Just as he was preparing to continue his efforts and reduce the strength of both sides by provoking a war between Romano and Falcone,

An unexpected person came to his door.

"What did you say? Maybe I misheard. Please say it again!" Penguin couldn't believe his ears.

Alice said calmly, "Romano is dying, but his position is too important. Once he dies unexpectedly, the entire Romano family will collapse, causing chaos in Gotham.

"There's no need to doubt anything; you've already heard it. I'm from the Bounty Hunter Revenge Foundation. You might not be familiar with this name, but those people who have died recently, seemingly unrelated but with the same cause of death, were all arranged by us.

The cause of the matter is also something you understand: the death of the Waynes!"

"You mean to say that Romano and Falcone are related to the death of the Waynes, and you're here for revenge?"

"You can also understand it that way, but I want to emphasize that we are a formal organization, and all actions are carried out according to contract."

Alice's expression was very calm when she spoke, as if killing people was just the most ordinary thing.

Penguin could accept this. With great ambitions, he had long since stopped taking fate seriously.

This was nothing big!

"Sorry, I haven't heard of you, but your idea is indeed good. But unfortunately, I'm just a nobody. Even if I can say a few words to Mr. Romano, that's all.

You want me to take Romano's place. I'm afraid I have to refuse! I don't have that ability!"

Penguin suddenly wanted to laugh like a madman. After laughing, he righteously refused.

Alice didn't have any unexpected expression on her face. Penguin's advantage lies in building a dark empire. He seems to have a natural talent for being in the underworld, being able to easily see the complex and chaotic situation and easily obtain the greatest benefits from it.

He does have ambition, and even wants to directly take the entire underground of Gotham for himself. But when facing an unknown organization, not easily revealing his true thoughts is the way to survive.
