American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#214 - Mr. Fury, are you able to come to work?

Nick Fury stood before his own grave, dressed like a hippie. The black trench coat he perpetually wore had finally disappeared, which was good news for everyone's visual aesthetics.

“Trying something new?” Captain America joked.

“You’ve been through this before, so you naturally have more experience than I do.”

“You’ll get used to it!”

“Politicians are ruthless indeed. SHIELD is already in bankruptcy liquidation. Such a behemoth falling from the sky is like Christmas for every member state. They’re thrilled!” Nick Fury said, his expression tinged with weariness.

After all, it was a place he had struggled in for decades. To surrender it so easily, even someone as cold as him felt a pang of regret.

He shook his head and said, “Some rats from Hydra still escaped. I’m going to Europe tonight to take care of it. Want to come with me, Captain?”

“I want to figure something out first!” The image of the Winter Soldier flashed through Captain America’s mind again.

“What about you, Sam?”

“I prefer being a soldier!” Sam shook his head.

“Alright!”

“Don’t you want to ask about the Eye of Heaven?” Captain America asked.

Fury shrugged. “It’s not my concern anymore!”

With that, he turned and left.

Compared to his previous vigor, his steps were now a bit unsteady.

Natasha walked over and tossed Captain America a file. “This is what you wanted. I had a friend get it for you. Mike agreed to help find him, but it’ll take some time. Hydra’s rats are best at digging holes. If they really want to hide, even you will have a hard time.”

“Thanks!” Captain America nodded.

“My identity has been exposed, and I’ve been having some trouble lately. Mike wants me to recruit SHIELD’s elite personnel. I agreed!”

“So you’ll be keeping a low profile for a while?”

“Not necessarily, just staying out of the public eye. If you need anything, you know where to find me!” Natasha said.

Captain America smiled. “Is Mike welcoming?”

“He’d love for you to join right now! Seriously, once the Winter Soldier thing is settled, join as soon as possible. The Eye of Heaven has some things that really need your help!” Natasha said seriously.

Seeing her serious expression, Captain America nodded.

Nick Fury walked into an old flying club. The old man at the door was sleeping like a log.

Nick knocked on his forehead and turned to leave.

“Giving up already?”

A voice came from behind. Nick Fury stopped.

“Isn’t such an obvious danger signal enough? Charlie just has narcolepsy, not a coma from a cerebral hemorrhage. After being the director of SHIELD for so many years, I can still tell the difference.”

“So that’s how it is. There are so many subtleties to a coma!”

A figure walked out of the shadows, standing at the door with a smile.

Nick turned around helplessly. “SHIELD is gone. The Eye of Heaven got the biggest piece of the pie. I handed over my decades of hard work with both hands. What are you here for?”

“Of course, it’s for you!”

The person was Qi Shan. He was still wearing a windbreaker, with the black Cult of Heaven uniform underneath. Coupled with his straight figure, he looked more like a general than an intelligence chief.

“I still say the most valuable thing about SHIELD isn’t the technology patents or the massive amount of professional talent, but you, Fury!”

“Although it’s nonsense, it’s quite interesting!” Qi Shan said with a smile. “Fury, you’ve been the director of SHIELD for so many years. You have extensive connections. You can’t not know that in the eyes of the Security Council, the Eye of Heaven is just a temporary replacement. If you want to grow, a few Security Council members aren’t enough. Reputation and achievements are everything.

For me, managing the Cult of Heaven is fine, but operating an intelligence agency full of intrigue is probably beyond my capabilities. That’s why I’m here to find a professional to help me solve this problem.”

Nick Fury said with a half-smile, “Boy, I don’t know how you built the Eye of Heaven, but I do know that someone who can seize the opportunity to reap the greatest benefits in other people’s wars is definitely not the incapable person you claim to be. Mike, I know what you mean. I only ask, can you really trust me?”

Qi Shan smiled. “Why wouldn’t I?”

“Good! In that case, I agree!” Fury nodded.

Qi Shan nodded and threw a watch. “Then from today onwards, you are the Director’s Assistant of the Eye of Heaven, mainly responsible for the extermination of Hydra. The watch will automatically record your identity the first time you wear it. Alice will record and follow your DNA information path. If needed, enter Alice on any electronic device to contact the Eye of Heaven.”

Fury took the watch, examined it, and snapped it onto his wrist.

“Director’s Assistant? Not bad!”

In the structure of an intelligence agency, the Director’s Assistant has great power, with a certain degree of flexibility compared to the Deputy Director.

Even disappearing at any time is no problem, which fits Nick Fury’s style.

“DNA recording in progress, searching: Nick Fury.”

Alice’s virtual avatar popped up, nodded slightly to Fury, and smiled. “Director Fury, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I am the artificial intelligence Alice.”

“This is good!” Fury nodded. He extended his hand, and Qi Shan shook it.

The two officially reached an agreement.

SHIELD Headquarters, the Triskelion’s underground space.

Soldiers with the Eye of Heaven’s sleeve patch had already taken control of the place.

A large number of researchers were counting weapons. Dr. Gero stood in front of three Helicarriers, and a smile appeared on his gloomy old face for the first time.

This big toy in front of him perfectly matched Dr. Gero’s aesthetic.

The basic framework was already mature. It only needed to have the energy core and weapon system replaced with the artificial human system, and its power would increase linearly.

If the energy supply was sufficient, blasting through the Earth with one shot wouldn’t be difficult.

In addition, with Alice controlling the intelligent satellite network and taking over the global monitoring system, the improved model’s power would be far more than just killing people.

More importantly, Qi Shan’s target was never humans!
