American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#283 - Trouble
Grodd was very strong. Even without his powerful physique, his mind control abilities alone were enough to kill most superheroes instantly.
To deal with the Flash and his team, he only needed to control Joe or his daughter to make them act cautiously.
Grodd was a master of deceit. Given enough time, even overthrowing a country wouldn't be difficult for him.
Unfortunately, when facing the Hunter Squad, he had a fatal weakness: flight!
Facing Brooke's provocation, Grodd roared and charged. A figure flashed, and the vastly different bodies collided, propelling Grodd rapidly into the sky.
It was Number Sixteen!
He straightened his arms, pushing against Grodd's broad back, ascending in a straight line.
The strong wind pressure forced Grodd's eyes to roll back. He struggled constantly but couldn't shake off Number Sixteen.
"Don't worry!" Brooke said, covering his afro, laughing. "Number Sixteen is a complete android; where would he get a mind to control!"
Kid Flash and Jesse Quick exchanged glances, swallowing hard.
Damn, this world is getting weirder and weirder!
Whoosh!
A black shadow fell from the sky, crashing towards Brooke's head with a whistling sound. Brooke lightly raised his right hand and slowly sheathed his sword.
Clang!
After a crisp sound, the Flash and the others suddenly felt a burst of sword light before their eyes. Then, the falling speed of the black shadow suddenly decreased.
Thud!
With a muffled sound, the ground shook.
A huge humanoid pit appeared in front of them, and the surrounding ground was covered in dense cracks, like a spider web.
Cisco exclaimed, "It's Grodd! He's frozen stiff!"
Sure enough, the huge gorilla, now embedded in the ground, was covered in frost.
He lay there motionless, his chest rising and falling slightly.
The Flash sighed in relief, glad he was still alive.
Still retaining the moral bottom line of a superhero, it's best not to kill if possible.
Grodd's fall became the last straw that broke the camel's back for the gorilla army.
Although these gorillas each had the physical qualities of Captain America, they were still no match for the five members of the Hunter Squad.
In just three minutes of engagement, the gorilla army had suffered at least a 1/3 reduction in numbers.
In such a tragic battle, under normal circumstances, the gorilla army would have scattered and fled long ago.
But Grodd was a master of the mind. He had made thorough preparations before coming, hypnotizing almost all of his soldiers.
Now that Grodd had fallen, the gorillas also trembled all over, collapsing to the ground one after another.
Sirens wailed, and a large number of police cars swarmed in, instantly surrounding the entire block.
Alex stood behind the defensive line, gazing at the tragic battlefield before him.
A pair of specially modified black vans slowly drove into the center of the field. A large number of soldiers in special combat uniforms swarmed out, took out pairs of special handcuffs, and sent the handcuffed gorillas one by one into the vans, quickly leaving.
Joe finally arrived at the scene, rushing over as soon as he got out of the car, anxiously grabbing Kid Flash and glancing at the Flash, "Are you okay? Are you injured?"
"No! Joe, where did this Hunter Squad come from? I've never heard of them before?" The Flash asked strangely.
Joe shook his head: "I'm not very clear either. It happened suddenly, and I haven't asked in detail yet, but this squad is funded by the Charity Foundation and enjoys temporary law enforcement power.
I suspect the Charity Foundation has its own purposes!"
Several armed police officers walked over, and only then did they see clearly that the logos on these people's vests were actually those of the newly established charitable organization.
So these people aren't police at all?
The Flash was still puzzled when several armed police officers recovered Grodd from the ground and dug him out, preparing to send him directly to the prison van.
"Wait! Can you not take Grodd away? Harry is still in his hands!" The Flash said quickly.
The armed police officers ignored him, as if they hadn't heard.
The Flash was about to step forward to stop them when Brooke directly blocked his path.
"Yo ho ho~ That won't do, Flash. Grodd is a serious criminal who has been subject to legal sanctions along with other gorillas."
"But Harry..."
"If there's a problem, you can call the police!" Brooke's mouth curled into a smile. "If the Harry you're talking about has no identity issues and is an American citizen, I think the police will help you find a solution!"
"How can you do this?" Jesse Quick said angrily.
Harry Wells was her father, and they both came from Earth-Two.
Not to mention being an American citizen, they weren't even Earth citizens.
It was conceivable that the government would definitely ignore their request. If they weren't careful, they might even be labeled and directly handed over to the Immigration Bureau.
The group exchanged glances, and the Flash's team members all had a bad premonition.
Their honeymoon period with the police department was probably over.
"If things are resolved, then we Hunters will take our leave. I hope the next time we meet, we won't be catching a cold on a deserted street, but in a café. By the way, today was really terrible; there wasn't even the aroma of coffee!"
Brooke led the team away.
After taking a few steps, he suddenly stopped, turned around, and said, "Oh, right, I forgot to tell you! It's illegal to privately arrest criminals, even if the Flash is a superhero. That's not an excuse to overstep law enforcement authority.
If we see you fighting in the streets again, damaging public facilities, and causing riots, don't blame us for arresting you too!"
Jesse Quick angrily said, "How can you do this? We just want to help!"
Brooke didn't answer. He had a smile on his face, bowed slightly, and led the four team members to slowly disappear into the night.
Subsequently, the armed police efficiently cleaned up the scene, sending one gorilla or gorilla corpse after another into the black vans, and then quickly disappeared.
The whole process was quiet and efficient. No one made unnecessary movements, and no one said a word. Even though the Flash's team was nearby, no one glanced at them.
This made the Flash and the others, who were used to the cheers of the crowd, very uncomfortable.
Facing the gradually receding convoy and the police who remained in the distance to establish a cordon, Cisco asked, "Joe, what exactly is going on?"
Joe shook his head; he didn't know how to explain it either.
The Flash's expression was heavy: "Guys, we're in trouble. Without Grodd, how are we going to bring Harry back?"
Everyone looked at each other, not knowing what to say.
Trouble!
