American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#286 - Tomorrow Raid 2

"Not good! Sarah is injured!"

With a cry of alarm, Professor Martin Stein stepped to his right front, while Jax Jackson, to his right, simultaneously stepped to his left front.

Streaks of flame emerged from their bodies, swirling and transforming into a being radiating intense heat.

The professor's aged body completely transformed into energy, merging into Jax's body. Their cells collided, creating a nuclear fusion effect, emitting immense energy.

When the Hunter Squad made their debut last night, they had already noticed the special nature of this group.

Especially the leading Exploding Skull, whose speed of attack astonished them.

A preliminary probe was unsuitable for any of them.

Captain Cold and Heat Wave were immediately excluded. Firestorm's appearance was too distinctive; even approaching the police station would draw immediate attention.

While Rip Hunter was also proficient in combat, facing Brokk was no different from facing someone without the strength to truss a chicken.

Atom, relying solely on his armor, was better suited for intelligence gathering and behind-enemy-lines rescue missions.

That left only Sarah as the remaining option.

She was trained by the League of Assassins, proficient in disguise, infiltration, and assassination, having experienced true death and returned from hell.

In every aspect, she was the most suitable candidate.

Their original plan was simple: lure out one person, then swarm and subdue them, using the Waverider to quickly escape. All that remained was to extract information.

This was already one of their classic tactics.

Although occasional failures occurred, it was undeniably effective.

Especially when the target saw the Waverider, they usually cooperated and talked.

Unexpectedly, this mission went awry. Sarah got overexcited and chose to attempt a direct kill.

Equally unexpected was how truly powerful this Exploding Skull actually was.

"Oh! Another one!"

Firestorm's aura blazed intensely. Brokk rested his cane on the ground, his posture relaxed, his tone light.

"I'll take this one!"

A barbell suddenly smashed through the wall and flew out, hitting Firestorm squarely in the face.

It knocked him straight out of the air.

Morty emerged shirtless, gripping his katana in his right hand, a hint of excitement on his usually calm face.

He was clearly more interested in Firestorm than in the gorilla.

Atom suddenly jumped out, scooped up the unconscious Sarah, and took off into the sky.

"I've got her!" Palmer shouted. Captain Cold and Heat Wave jumped out to the left and right.

Alternating blasts of cold and heat rays filled the air, completely obscuring everyone's vision.

Laura's pupils had turned into hearts, and she snorted heavily.

"Handsome, don't run away, marry me!"

She wielded two large blades like windmills, smashing the laser beams one by one.

Captain Hunter's eyes twitched.

In his time-spanning combat record, he had encountered all sorts of problems. Was he evil or insidious? He felt he could handle anything.

But this…

Who begs someone to marry them? Is this for real?

"…Par…"

Palmer landed behind Captain Hunter and put Sarah down.

"Hunter, get Sarah back to the Waverider quickly."

"Ray! Grab her quickly!" Hunter shouted.

"Why her? That Exploding Skull is the leader; he'll know more."

"I know! But he's a swordsmanship master. Their team has already reacted and might join the fight at any moment. We don't have much time…"

Laura was fast. In the time it took to say those words, she was almost upon him. Captain Hunter retreated again, firing at an increased rate.

The laser fire was dense as rain, but it still couldn't stop Laura's advance.

"Hahaha, marriage, marriage!"

"…tic…"

Atom quickly shrunk down and charged straight at Laura.

He fired several laser cannons from his hands, the white light blinding. Laura was shocked and crossed her blades to defend.

Bang!

With a muffled sound, Laura faltered, her charge forced back.

Captain Hunter breathed a sigh of relief, but suddenly froze: "What's that sound?"

"…Boom!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, a massive shockwave, over ten meters in diameter, slammed down, causing a tremendous explosion.

The blast was fierce, and dust flew everywhere.

The members of the Legends of Tomorrow, caught off guard, were blown far away by the shockwave.

The artificial fog was instantly dispersed.

Buu, holding a giant lollipop, licked it as he descended from the sky.

Behind him, Android 16 stood quietly, without a word.

Two small birds perched on his shoulders, chirping and hopping, interacting with him from time to time.

A blade of light cut through the dust, revealing Brokk's figure.

"Yo ho ho~ That was fast; he disappeared."

Morty flickered into existence next to Brokk, saying indifferently, "The fire-breathing kid is interesting, but his combat experience is too limited. He was flustered after a few moves."

"Did you get a live one?" Brokk asked.

"An old man! Interesting abilities; it's actually two people."

"That's enough!" Brokk chuckled softly. "Notify the transport team to send him to Blackgate Penitentiary!"

"No interrogation?"

"The Archbishop's dossier had information on him. You training fanatics never read it, do you? Android Sixteen?"

"Martin Stein, physics professor, one of the core figures of Firestorm."

As Android 16's voice echoed, the flying dust gradually settled.

As expected, the Legends of Tomorrow were nowhere to be seen.

Only an old man hung crookedly in Buu's hand.

He appeared to be unconscious.

"Where did Laura go?"

The others exchanged glances.

On the Waverider, Hunter looked lifeless, pinned to the ground by Laura, who was constantly taking advantage of him.

Captain Cold and the other members stood in a circle around them, staring wide-eyed, unsure of what to do.

"Gideon?"

"Yes, Mr. Jackson!"

"Lock onto Martin's location and ensure the Waverider can arrive at any time!"

"Understood!"

Atom said, "Prepare the medical bay. Sarah is unconscious and needs to be examined!"

"Okay!" The others nodded quickly. "Yes, yes, Sarah is the priority."

Gideon said, "Voiceprint recorded and labeled. The target is preparing to send Martin to Blackgate Penitentiary."

Captain Cold and Heat Wave exchanged a glance, a smile appearing on their faces.

"Rescuing a prisoner transport? Just like something from the last century. Let's leave this to the two of us. Of course, we might need the Waverider's resources."

Palmer said, "It's essential to plan out the details!"

The group turned and left.

"Hey, hey, hey, what about me? Aren't you going to try to pull her off me? I can barely breathe!"
