American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#317 - One shot hits the target

Seeing that Wolverine didn't speak, the man continued, "She came looking for you, didn't she? Gabriela?"

"Listen, the one I'm looking for isn't you, Wolverine. To be precise, I'm looking for someone who happens to be looking for you. She took something of mine when I wasn't paying attention. Something I need to be responsible for!"

The man shook his head, chuckled, and sighed, "Mexican women, they've really got something!"

"I don't know any Gabriela, get out of here," Logan frowned.

"I know who you're hiding, friend! The Mexican border isn't suitable. A place with a good environment is needed, that place is too chaotic, and the sandstorms are too much. It's not suitable for old people to live in!"

There's one!

Logan's heart sank. "What do you want?"

"Just a phone call!" The man took out a business card and casually tossed it onto the passenger seat.

"To be honest, you're my idol!" The man said, shook his head, opened the door, and walked out.

Logan picked up the business card and glanced at it.

Alkali Transgene Research Institute, Head of Security: Donald Pierce.

It's him?

He actually came?

Logan looked at the medicine kit under the passenger seat, then at the phone in his hand.

"Damn it!"

He cursed softly, pushed the door open, and got out.

"Hey!"

With a shout, Donald, who was just about to get into the car, walked back with a hint of surprise on his face.

"What? Remember something?"

Logan shook his head: "You can't leave, someone wants to see you!"

Donald blinked, obviously not understanding what was going on.

Logan ignored him and dialed a number directly.

"Please report your current location!"

A crisp female voice came from the other end, getting straight to the point without any preamble.

Logan obviously knew what she meant and said directly, "Greenwood Cemetery!"

After speaking, he threw away the phone and took off his jacket, piling it on the roof of the car.

"Heh!" Donald sneered: "What's wrong, old wolf's teeth have all fallen out, and you're still trying to be fierce?"

"Enough nonsense, you can't leave!"

Logan swung his arms, and the blades in the gaps of his knuckles slid out little by little.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! I'm not a mutant. Are you misunderstanding the words 'Head of Security'?"

Buzz buzz buzz

The roar of car engines, flying mud, several off-road vehicles suddenly rushed out from all directions, instantly surrounding Logan in the center.

With the sound of impacts ringing out one after another, a dozen burly men dressed as mercenaries rushed down and pointed their guns at him.

Logan closed his eyes for a moment and cursed in a low voice: "Damn it!"

"I really don't know what you were thinking. The exchange just now wasn't very friendly, was it?" Donald shrugged.

He gave a look, and the mercenaries swarmed forward, using firearms to strike Logan's joints in quick succession, knocking him to the ground in just a few blows.

Logan lay on the ground, dizzy, the muddy ground staining his snow-white shirt black.

"Oh, my God, Wolverine! You're my hero. Seeing you looking like this really breaks my heart. I really don't want to dig out your heart and crush it into pieces myself."

He stepped on Logan's head and said, "Now tell me, who were you calling just now?"

"Go to hell!"

Although he didn't like Qi Shan, Logan obviously disliked Donald, who came from the Mutant Research Institute, even more.

"Don't be so impulsive. Think about that old bald guy. If you're finished, he won't live for many days either. America's first nonagenarian still at the top of the wanted list is worth a lot of money!"

Donald squatted down and persuaded in a gentle voice.

Without giving the mercenaries time to react, the missile exploded instantly.

Soil flew, and the roar thundered.

The following scene could not be more accurately described as utter chaos.

The force of the explosion sent the mercenaries and Wolverine on the ground flying out, a mixture of blood and flesh falling from the sky.

The originally intact cemetery was instantly blown into a half-pit.

The turf on the ground flew, and several tombstones nearby were shattered into pieces, not knowing where they had flown to.

Fortunately, the point of impact was between two graves, and although some of the soil was blown away, it had not yet touched the coffins.

If the dead had spirits, they would have been given a big fright.

The missile directly cleared the field. Those who got out of the car first were blown away, and several who remained in the off-road vehicles almost had their hearts jump out.

They hurriedly turned the steering wheel and rushed out, not caring about their companions, directly fleeing for their lives.

As the head of security, Donald had some of his body replaced with machinery. The instant he was hit, he subconsciously used his mechanical arm to block in front of him. The explosion tore his arm apart, but he was not seriously injured. He was only blown more than ten meters away and hung in a tree.

His head was shaken by the shockwave, and he didn't regain consciousness for a long time.

The sound of helicopter propellers came from the air, and a helicopter slowly landed. A bodyguard opened the door and jumped down first, looked around, and then split into two groups to bring Donald and Wolverine over.

Qi Shan sat in the chair, not even getting off the plane.

He first looked at Donald and, seeing that he was still alive, waved his hand and had the bodyguards take him down.

He was fine, but Wolverine looked a little more miserable.

His entire body was made of adamantium skeleton, incomparably hard. Although no parts were lost under the impact of the bomb, a large area of his skin was lacerated.

Especially his legs, most of the muscles were blown away.

Bloody holes were everywhere under the white bones, and blood flowed down like tap water.

He was only held there by the bodyguards for a few seconds, and a small pool of blood flowed out on the ground.

One could imagine how much blood he had lost just now.

Qi Shan shook his head: "Although I knew there was a problem with your genes, I didn't expect it to be so serious. So be it, what difference does it make sooner or later? It was originally prepared for you!"

Qi Shan raised his hand and threw out a small box. The bodyguard caught it, tore open the packaging, took out the belt inside, and simply wrapped it around Wolverine's waist.

Then, the belt burst into bright light, as if a mysterious force gushed out and instantly merged into Logan's body.

"Ah..."

He let out a groan, and the shocking wounds on his body actually began to recover at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Feeling the familiar itch, Wolverine suddenly woke up.

"This...?"

How many years had it been since he felt this way? This was... this was...

Wolverine suddenly had the urge to burst into tears, but the cold and unyielding character he had developed over the years made him just open his mouth and then fall silent again.

After a long while, he said in a changed tone: "What... what did you do to me?"
