As the car entered the courtyard, Caliban was outside taking in the laundry.

He was wrapped up like a rice dumpling, with only his eyes showing.

Speaking of which, he wasn't having an easy time either; in this "family of three," he had been constantly playing the role of the mother, wholeheartedly serving the elderly Charles without complaint.

Wolverine led the woman and the little girl out of the car.

"Canada!"

Opening the iron gate, the group walked inside.

The interior was dimly lit, with piles of junk and old furniture.

The glaring sunlight from outside shone in, but was blocked by several thick curtains, making the room feel somewhat oppressive.

The Mexican woman said nervously, "Logan, we're short on time. Why aren't we hitting the road immediately? You should know they're hunting us and could find us here at any moment!"

Logan gave the woman a cold look.

"Shut up. I need to get some things! I can't just abandon my friends and leave!"

At this moment, Caliban pushed Charles out.

The old man saw Laura at a glance, and his whole body began to tremble. He said excitedly, "Logan! Logan, you found her! She's the new mutant, a brand new hope…"

The old man's hands trembled with excitement.

Caliban's eyes lit up.

Logan, however, was expressionless. Ever since he was stabbed a few times by the little girl yesterday, he already knew.

Before he could finish speaking, there was a loud crash outside, as the large iron gate slammed to the ground, followed by several troop carriers slowly driving in.

Some soldiers spread out around the perimeter, each fully armed, holding special firearms, forming an infantry-tank coordinated advance.

The group inside the room was stunned. Wolverine rushed to the window and took a look, his expression changing drastically. He turned around and shouted, "Quick, leave through the back door! Get in the SUV that's already prepared. Caliban, you drive and evacuate along the route we planned."

Before his voice faded, Wolverine charged out the front door.

The Mexican woman's body trembled uncontrollably, and she suddenly hugged Laura tightly.

"They're here. They're here again! Professor X, please! Please take Laura to a safe place! You're the only one who can save her now!"

Charles comforted her, "Don't be nervous, don't be nervous. Logan will handle everything. We'll evacuate first, and he'll be along soon!"

Caliban didn't wait for Charles to finish speaking before pushing him towards the back.

He wasn't a combat type; his abilities were only tracking other mutants and having a keen sense of smell.

With a sound like muffled thunder, one massive, pointed bullet after another shot out of the gun barrels, turning Wolverine into a hornet's nest in the blink of an eye.

The impact of the bullets pierced through Wolverine's flesh, hitting the makeshift house behind him and turning the walls into honeycomb briquettes.

In less than half a minute, the house collapsed with a crack.

Wolverine seized this fleeting opportunity, darting backward and disappearing into the smoke and dust.
