American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#356 - Hank and Hawke
A suburban villa.
Hank Pym, with graying hair and a headlamp, was hunched over his workbench, using tweezers to assemble a small object.
Hearing the door open, he didn't even look up, simply saying, "Why the sudden interest in visiting an old man like me?"
"Jacqueline called a board meeting, saying Darren had successfully recreated the Pym Particle synthesis equation, but then S.H.I.E.L.D. suddenly appeared and took all the data and Darren himself away."
The speaker was a short-haired woman.
She was dressed smartly, her androgynous suit accentuating her unique style.
When speaking to Hank, her expression didn't change, but there was a hint of warmth in her eyes.
"What's there to investigate?"
"If Darren really found the equation, then it's now in the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D..
You know the power of the Pym Particles, you know that if it falls into the hands of the government, it will lead to an unstoppable disaster after a brief period of prosperity.
It could even destroy human civilization! Isn't that what you've been guarding against for decades? How have you become like this? Mom wouldn't believe it if she saw you!"
"Don't mention your mother to me!"
Hank shouted, suddenly looking up: "You have no right to mention her, even if she gave birth to you and named you Hope."
"I'm your daughter too!" The woman said with a hint of helplessness.
"Thank you for the reminder, I haven't forgotten! But I also haven't forgotten your betrayal!"
Hank's hands trembled slightly: "Your mother and I stood guard for decades, unwavering even in the face of assassinations and threats from various forces.
Stark Industries offered a sky-high price, and even members of Congress jointly pleaded with me, but we refused.
Because we knew that Pym Particles were too dangerous, and the consequences would be unimaginable if they fell into the hands of ambitious people and politicians.
But what did you do? You actually cooperated with a treacherous student of mine, kicked your own father out of Pym Group, and even fully assisted him in deciphering the Pym Particle equation?"
Hank's eyes suddenly became a little lost: "I never thought that my beloved daughter would stab me in the back.
But I'm also grateful, grateful that Jennifer is no longer here, otherwise she would be devastated!"
Hope anxiously explained: "Dad, it's not like that, I was just helping Darren manage the group, occasionally offering some suggestions on the direction of the experiments."
"No need to explain! Sometimes what you do is more important than what you say!" Hank waved his hand: "Leave, I still have to finish the work at hand!"
Hope said helplessly: "Dad, S.H.I.E.L.D. is serious, they've taken almost all the data. Once the news gets out tomorrow, the stock price will plummet, and the company's market value will evaporate by trillions. Pym Group was founded by you!"
"That was in the past, it has nothing to do with me now!" Hank sneered: "Besides, Pym Particles aren't that simple! Even if Darren cracked the synthesis equation, he lacks an important condition.
Now is not the time to rush, if S.H.I.E.L.D. really uses Pym Particles on a large scale, I will naturally come knocking!"
Hope shook her head, knowing that her persuasion had failed again this time.
When exactly did it start? How did their relationship deteriorate to this extent?
Was it because she often didn't come home and rarely cared about him?
Or was it really because her collaboration with Darren broke his heart.
Hope couldn't guess, feeling only helpless.
"There's a sandwich I just made in the fridge, and a piece of chicken cutlet left over from lunch. If you're hungry, you can heat it up in the microwave before you leave!"
Just as she was about to close the door, Hank's voice came out.
His voice was faint, almost imperceptible, as if he was just casually saying something, not caring whether the other person heard it or not.
Hope paused, a smile appearing at the corner of her mouth, and gently closed the door.
She didn't answer, going straight to the kitchen.
Opening the refrigerator, she took out an exquisite food box.
Inside was a full plate of sandwiches and two pieces of chicken cutlet, with a few small fruits on the side.
This was clearly a carefully prepared bento, not leftovers!
Taking a bite of the sandwich, Hope's eyes turned a little red.
This was exactly her favorite taste.
That stubborn old man!
Hope shook her head, the big stone that had been weighing on her heart disappearing without a trace.
She relaxed completely.
Forget it! Let Dad handle this!
A seaplane suddenly plummeted from the sky, crashing headfirst into the sea.
The powerful impact instantly tore the small seaplane into pieces, with parts scattered on the surface of the sea, slowly sinking to the bottom.
Water splashed everywhere, and figures emerged from the water.
They waved their hands, keeping the parts above their necks above the water, gasping for breath.
"Damn it! Affu, how did you fly the plane? I almost got killed!" Affu cursed.
"Shut your mouth! Isn't it because you were fooling around on the plane that caused the direction to be out of control!" Rasu roared.
"That's because you farted so bad, I subconsciously dodged! How did it become my fault?" Affu yelled.
"So it was you bastard who farted, I almost fainted from the smell, what did you eat?" Afen cried.
The few glared at each other, and if they weren't in the water, they would probably already be rolling around in a ball.
"All of you shut up, you bunch of trash have never done anything right!" Valmont scolded with a cold face.
The three glared at each other a few times, and closed their mouths in unison.
"What's our current location?" Valmont asked.
"Oh? I took a look just now, this should be Long Island, not too far from New York!" Afen said.
"How far is it from our intended destination?"
"If we walk from here, it should be a little further to New York! I think we can just steal a car and go back to New York!" Afen scratched his head.
Rasu was impatient: "You're just talking nonsense, who doesn't know that?"
Afen glared: "You caused the plane crash with your stinky farts, and you're still right?"
"What's wrong? Not convinced?"
Valmont's veins were throbbing: "Shut up! What are you arguing about? The most important thing now is to quickly send the Talismans to Shendu, I have a bad feeling! It seems like something is already watching us."
The three looked at each other, their faces solemn.
They had the same feeling.
It seems that the situation is indeed a bit wrong, now is not the time to fool around.
Fortunately, the crash site wasn't too far from the beach, and they could see it when they looked up. The few slightly identified the direction, and swung their arms to swim towards the shore.
