American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#391 - Meeting (Part 2)

"To date, we have nearly a hundred special corpses on hand, and the number is still rising!"

Macy said, "Their targets are random, including ordinary people, gangsters, council members, celebrities, police officers, and even White House office staff.

Each of the agencies present has accumulated many such cases, but most are small-scale.

There are no connections in terms of personal relationships, making investigation completely clueless."

Hearing this, Jesse understood a bit. So, the reason for summoning him here was for this matter!

Sure enough, Macy continued, "But just a few days ago, the Atlanta Sentinel Services branch was flattened by four suddenly emerging squads.

Let's set aside the specific number of casualties for now. The problem is that these monsters only released four mutants.

I believe everyone understands what this means. Now, let's give the stage to Captain Jesse!"

Macy took a step back and applauded gently.

The people present were moved by him and followed suit with applause for a while.

Jesse got up and walked to the podium. He first thanked Macy, then took the microphone, and pressed down with both hands, and the applause gradually subsided.

Jesse said, "The situation is urgent, so without further ado, let's get straight to the point!"

This simple sentence immediately won everyone's favor.

Since everyone was in public service, no one had the patience to listen to those long and tedious speeches.

Jesse said, "After this attack, we launched an investigation while conducting rescue operations.

Previously, I had been leading a team in Atlanta to capture an underground mutant organization. The leader of the organization, Polaris, had been arrested by me before and was detained in the Atlanta Supermax Detention Center.

But later, Polaris escaped with another mutant and disappeared without a trace.

The matter should have ended there, but I didn't expect that the trap I set casually would catch several big fish from the underground mutant organization.

Among them was a Mexican-American man, nicknamed Eclipse, who is Polaris's boyfriend.

Among the police officers sitting below, someone suddenly whispered, and one person said loudly, "Sir, I have a photo here that I would like you to confirm!"

Macy interjected, "Is it important?"

A young police officer who looked only in his early twenties stood up and said, "It's about Polaris, but I'm not sure!"

Jesse hurriedly said, "Come on up!"

The young police officer quickly ran up and said, "Sir, this is a video that my sister sent me today. Look at this person!"

Jesse followed his finger and looked at a background person passing by in the photo. His face suddenly changed: "When was this photo taken?"

"It should be around 8:00 this morning. She took it on her way to school. Tomorrow is her birthday, and she's asking me for a birthday present!"

Jesse looked and, sure enough, in the center of the photo was the storefront of a toy and gift shop.

He didn't say anything, just took out a small scanner, turned it on, and gently scanned the photo.

Several lines of text immediately appeared on the small display behind him.

Scanning completed, searching the database.

Polaris Lorna Dane found.

Jesse narrowed his eyes. She actually came to New York?

Macy glanced at it and nodded slightly to several big shots in the first row.

The big shot in the middle, wearing a dark suit, got up and walked over. He took the scanner and glanced at it, then threw it aside.

Facing the audience, he said indifferently, "Important clues have been found. Polaris Lorna Dane appeared in New York this morning.

This is a rare opportunity and our only clue. I order!"

Swish!

As soon as the words came out, everyone below stood at attention with a swish, neatly, chest out and head held high.

The big shot said indifferently, "Each agency sends specialists to form a new task force. All resources are allocated at the highest level. This mission is only allowed to succeed, not to fail. Did you hear that?"

"Yes, sir!" The response was deafening.

"Dismissed!"

The big shot gave a faint order, and the people below all dispersed.

He turned around, glanced at Jesse, and said, "I will assign you a task force specifically to investigate Tomie. How long do you need?"

"Based on the current clues, it will take at least a month!"

"Alright, I'll give you a month, and only a month! These monsters are expanding rampantly. Their hunting targets have no limits. If we don't stop them, I suspect that one day they will point their guns at Congress, or even the President's forehead!"

The big shot paused and said to Macy, "Leave this matter to you!"

After speaking, he didn't even wait for Jesse to answer and turned around and left.

The other big shots glanced at Jesse from a distance, said nothing, and followed closely behind.

But Jesse clearly felt that the responsibility on his shoulders had become much heavier.

Macy smiled and said, "Congratulations, you've risen to the top in one step!"

"Is it that easy?" Jesse said calmly.

Macy nodded, smiled, and said, "Let's go, come with me. I'll help you process the documents and various procedures first. Starting tomorrow, you will be the high-ranking official in charge of the task force."

Jesse said nothing and followed Macy out of the conference room.

Before leaving, he glanced at the photo on the big screen, his eyes becoming firmer.

I will definitely catch them, definitely!

While several agencies were negotiating cooperation, Polaris, the key figure they were talking about, appeared in front of a kindergarten in the Manhattan area.

Although she had been fighting Sentinel Services for many years, she mostly focused on escaping and had never tried killing anyone.

Polaris felt that she simply couldn't bring herself to do it, but with the lives of four friends and family members on the other end of the scale, she hesitated.

This time, she didn't bring anyone with her and applied for maximum support.

32 special forces soldiers would take action for her, smoothly resolving the target.

Polaris's goal was to send these special forces soldiers to the target, so that she could complete the mission without killing anyone, a win-win situation.

A luxury car slowly stopped in front of the kindergarten. The driver opened the door and got out, bowing slightly to Polaris and showing a handsome smile: "Miss Dane, the Four Seasons Hotel New York welcomes you.

The services you previously booked are ready, and you can pick them up at any time!"

"Thank you! Take me back to the hotel! Also, inform them to take action tonight!" Polaris said calmly as she got into the car.

The driver respectfully said, "As you wish, Miss Dane!"
