American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#422 - Yondu and the Slayer

Interstellar war is never a child's play. Even though Ronan the Accuser's military strength is formidable and he has destroyed many planets, he remains cautious when facing Xandar.

The reason for launching this attack was to seize the Orb of the Universe unexpectedly.

In his view, as long as the Orb of the Universe is in his hands, no force in the universe will be able to resist him.

Even if Xandar is vast and technologically advanced, it would be defenseless against the unreasonable power of the Infinity Stone.

Unfortunately, he foresaw the beginning but not the end.

A perfectly good invasion, which had already torn through Xandar's final shield, was ready to descend to the surface.

But unexpectedly, it was instantly crushed by the sudden appearance of Boros!

Until his consciousness faded, Ronan didn't know what had happened.

Xandar was too complacent. Even though the Nova Corps had been fighting the Kree Empire for thousands of years, the abundance of resources and advanced technology had always ensured the stability of the rear.

The front line battles didn't affect the rear.

Furthermore, Xandar was not designed as a war-oriented fortress. It was the administrative center of Xandarian civilization, so it lacked extensive war facilities.

And technological advancements weren't sufficient to cover the entire planet with a protective shield, which led to the current predicament.

After the Nova Prime issued the evacuation order, many shelters ignited their engines and ascended, scrambling to evacuate from the rear.

All warship assembly factories were operating at full capacity, with a small warship rolling off the production line every few minutes, taken over by artificial intelligence and directly assigned to combat formations.

Five small warships formed a squad, six squads formed a squadron, and twenty squadrons formed a legion.

Across the planet, thousands of assembly factories were churning out these small warships every few minutes.

These ships formed two legions that joined the defending forces, protecting the shelters that were rapidly ascending and assembling in the air, merging into massive escape ships, and speeding into space.

Within a short 30 minutes after the order was issued, five massive escape ships had left Xandar.

Various materials were rapidly consumed as a large number of small warships rushed out, launching suicide attacks against the Frieza Force under the control of artificial intelligence.

The ground-based anti-aircraft guns fired non-stop, with laser missiles, pulse cannons, positron cannons, and all sorts of weapons relentlessly bombarding the small shuttles.

Under the dense barrage of fire, the small shuttles only struggled for a dozen seconds before being blasted into a pile of scrap.

Except for Frieza, none of the pirates who were keen on burning, killing, and looting survived inside the shuttle.

Even so, the frontline commander had no intention of stopping, directly instructing his subordinates not to cease firing until the weapons reached critical condition.

It was precisely because of this artillery suppression that the evacuation plan was successfully completed.

Unfortunately, fate was not on their side. Today was destined to be a day of suffering for Xandar.

The escape ship fleet had just left the planet and hadn't had time to enter warp speed when a large number of dilapidated ships suddenly appeared in front of them.

"Damn it, the Ravagers!"

The escaping Xandarians were on the verge of despair.

The Ravagers were notorious mercenaries, known for double-crossing, moonlighting as pirates, and robbing merchant ships as a matter of routine.

The escape ships were originally transport ships, with pitifully weak firepower. Even with a massive number of small attack ships guarding them, the clumsy escape ships would have nowhere to escape in a battle.

Damn it, this time we're really done for!

A pessimistic atmosphere immediately pervaded the escape ships.

On the other side, the Ravagers were also taken aback by the sight before them after jumping out of warp.

Alarms flashed incessantly, and the information officer shouted and screamed, his voice trembling.

"Ambush, this is an ambush! Star-Lord, that bastard, has teamed up with the Nova Corps! Open fire, open fire!"

Before he could finish speaking, Yondu slapped him aside.

"Shut up, you idiot!"

Yondu's expression was grave: "Pay attention to the data. These ships in front of us have a large number of life signs, actually over ten million! There are more ships rising from behind... This is an evacuation!"

Slap!

Yondu slapped him again and cursed: "It means we're late, the mission has failed!"

"But the radar shows that there are a large number of warships engaged in combat in outer space on the other side of the planet, and judging from the energy readings, the battle is very intense," a man with three arms said strangely.

"Huh?" Yondu was stunned. "What's going on? Could it be that Ronan hasn't successfully landed yet? Does that mean the Orb of the Universe is still on the ground?

Men, bypass these idiots and land to grab the Orb of the Universe!

This is a 4 billion star credit deal. After this job, we can splurge for a long time!"

Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!

A group of misfits cheered wildly, their eyes bloodshot with excitement from the money. They directly steered their warships in an arc, almost grazing past Xandar's escape fleet, and charged towards Xandar.

The people in the escape fleet had just breathed a sigh of relief.

Before they could celebrate escaping disaster, the radar once again blared an ear-splitting alarm.

Space vibrated violently, and a strange spaceship shaped like a giant blue whale suddenly appeared behind them, blocking the Ravagers' fleet.

The Ravagers, driven mad by the forty billion star credits, opened fire directly on anyone who dared to stop them from getting rich, regardless of who they were.

Dense artillery fire struck the enemy ship, causing a large amount of flames to erupt.

A layer of faint blue plasma shield flashed, intercepting all attacks.

Yondu's expression changed as soon as he saw the strange shape of the spaceship, and he shouted quickly: "Not good, run! Those lunatics from the Slayers are here! They specialize in causing trouble for the Frieza Force. Frieza must be here too."

In this critical moment, Yondu's mind worked quickly.

He instantly understood what was happening.

It was likely that the Frieza Force had somehow obtained information about the Orb of the Universe, rushed to Xandar, casually killed Ronan, and then engaged with the Nova Corps.

With Frieza's style, he wouldn't rest until he had slaughtered all the Xandarians.

No wonder the Xandarians were running for their lives.

Having understood this, Yondu naturally didn't dare to get involved in this mess.

The Frieza Force had been attacking and conquering everywhere in the universe recently, killing more than one Celestial and destroying countless civilizations.

Although his reputation wasn't as great as Ronan the Accuser, his notoriety was even worse.

Not to mention the Slayers who specialized in hunting Frieza.

This place was too dangerous and could lead to death at any moment. Now was the time to run.

Without saying a word, Yondu immediately changed direction, activated the warp engine, and instantly disappeared into space.
