American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#449 - The mighty Batmobile
The night was dark and still, the port as quiet as a coffin buried in the earth. A massive iron ship loomed over the docks, its coldness amplified by the powerful spotlights.
A large tractor-trailer slowly emerged from the ship's hold, its container clearly custom-made, a sleek, dark black, emblazoned with the large, distinct LexCorp logo.
After turning onto the transport road, three black sedans each converged from the front and rear, forming a protective escort.
Just then, from behind a converted warehouse, blinding headlights flashed on, an engine roared, and the Batmobile burst forth, charging straight towards the truck.
The guard on the left side's expression shifted, and he shouted, "Go! Go! Go!"
The machine gun in his hands sputtered a few sparks before he was sent flying by the Batmobile.
The heavy truck accelerated wildly, tearing down the relatively flat transport road like a mad locomotive.
The truck's engine had clearly been specially modified, its power absurdly high, easily outstripping the surrounding sedans when it got going.
Fortunately, the sedans were primarily intended to lure and delay; they quickly lined up abreast, sunroofs opening, and a barrage of gun barrels emerged, unleashing a storm of bullets onto the Batmobile.
The Batmobile, constructed from special alloys, was a hybrid of sports car and tank, adaptable to various terrains, loaded with diverse weaponry, and capable of taking on tanks in a pinch.
A few measly M14s stood no chance!
At LexCorp's gala, Bruce Wayne had encountered Diana, Wonder Woman disguised as a historian, who clearly possessed some knowledge of both Batman and Superman.
She had approached Batman, making cryptic remarks that aroused his suspicion.
Following the clues, Batman had finally located this dock.
The answer to everything lay within this medium-sized truck, and he had to get his hands on it.
As the heavy truck desperately fled, additional vehicles continuously joined the pursuit, attempting to halt the Batmobile with various weapons.
The mercenaries were giving it their all, even bringing out Gatling guns with tank cannons spitting blue fire, but still couldn't stop the Batmobile's relentless assault.
Despite the mercenaries' fierce firepower, their vehicles were too ordinary; the Batmobile simply fired a couple of shots, instantly blasting half of one car away, sending it crashing to the ground.
The vehicle's wreckage was dragged far by inertia, trailing a series of sparks, its sharp edges seemingly rounded off.
A heavy tanker truck suddenly cut in, and a pursuing escort vehicle, unable to avoid it, slammed head-on, triggering a massive explosion that shook the heavens, the flames forming a tidal wave, continuously surging outwards, a small mushroom cloud gradually forming in the air like a dragon.
The heavy truck's rear container slowly opened, revealing two fully armed mercenaries, each carrying a massive shoulder-mounted rocket launcher, frantically searching for their target.
"Where did he go?"
These men were professionals; they couldn't refuse LexCorp's offer, but they also weren't about to go in blind against Batman's reputation.
For this mission, they had pulled out all the stops, including shoulder-fired rocket launchers specifically designed to destroy enemy fortifications, packing an immense explosive punch.
The American drone system was loaded with thermobaric weapons.
Typically, a single shot was enough to obliterate an entire force.
Despite the gruesome deaths and heavy casualties suffered by the earlier vehicles, those were merely recently recruited peripheral members, essentially bait.
If the plan had gone smoothly, they wouldn't have bothered destroying the last regular transport, preferring to detonate these two missiles and turn to dust.
But fate is fickle, and no one expected a tanker truck to be weaving around the docks at this time.
With their trump card neutralized, the mercenary leader's forehead instantly beaded with cold sweat.
He stared intently at the row of monitors in the rear of the container, his hands constantly adjusting the joystick, attempting to locate the Batmobile using the aerial drone surveillance.
But then, the building diagonally behind them suddenly exploded, and the Batmobile crashed straight through from the second floor.
The Batmobile's flat, hard nose, at high speed, transformed into a sharp garrote, instantly slicing off half of the rear container.
These men had crawled out of piles of corpses; the moment the Batmobile appeared, they instinctively threw themselves down.
Indeed, that split-second saved their heads.
The upper half of the heavy truck's container was completely sheared off by the Batmobile.
The mercenaries stood up, quickly checking their weapons.
Of the two single-unit rocket launchers, one had its barrel cleanly severed, leaving only one intact.
The mercenary immediately tossed the ruined rocket launcher away, grabbing the grenade launcher slung across his back and firing without looking.
Thump, thump, thump!
Three grenade rounds fired in quick succession, chasing the Batmobile's tail and slamming into its outer armor, flames instantly erupting, engulfing the entire surface.
No matter how powerful, the Batmobile was still a car; the unexpected impact caused inertial collision and rotation.
And in the brief seconds that the Batmobile was out of control, the single-unit rocket launcher finally fired, its thick tail of flame streaking towards the Batmobile's right side armor.
Boom!
With a deafening explosion, the Batmobile was sent spinning into the air.
After crashing through a wall, it vanished from sight.
The mercenaries had barely breathed a sigh of relief when the Batmobile crashed through the wall again, the flames clinging to its exterior armor quickly extinguished by the dirt and sand.
They stared in disbelief, realizing that a direct hit from a single-unit rocket launcher had only dented a section of the Batmobile's armor.
They could hardly believe their eyes.
The heavy truck desperately accelerated, now with no way out; they had exhausted all their trump cards, and still couldn't stop the Batmobile, leaving them to rely solely on the modified engine.
The mercenary leader quickly issued a retreat order; they opened the rear access panel, grabbed a case secured to the chassis, and entered the cab.
Then, with a clang, the damaged container was jettisoned, sending sparks flying across the road.
The Batmobile roared forward, smashing straight through the container, but just as Batman was about to finish off his enemies.
Superman suddenly appeared in his line of sight, standing tall in the middle of the road, his red cape billowing behind him.
The reaction time was too short; despite Batman's instinctive attempt to swerve, a part of the Batmobile still collided with the Man of Steel.
The outer armor that even missiles couldn't penetrate instantly shattered like a biscuit.
The Batmobile spun and crashed into a pile of concrete blocks, its frame severely deformed, fuel leaking and reigniting the flames.
