American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#488 - Family of three

"My name is Darwin, this is Ravager, and we're members of the Doomsday Self-Help Organization. If it's convenient, I'd like to talk to your child!"

The two raised their hands and smiled to show they meant no harm.

The large man remained vigilant, especially after hearing them mention his child. He whispered sharply, "Why are you looking for Tim? What do you want to do to him?"

Darwin remained amiable. "Sir, please don't get excited. We have no ill intentions towards your son. His name is Tim, right?

In peacetime, no one would come looking for him, but things are different now. Monsters flying everywhere have almost infested the entire world. I think you've confirmed this information from the television you have in the basement, haven't you?"

The large man gripped his shotgun, his expression tense.

"Don't be nervous, it's just a little trick. Since you can't explain it, you should know that Tim is special. We're the same, so we want to talk to him. If possible, we'd like to invite him to join us to fight the monster invasion, or rescue more people!"

"How do I know you're telling the truth?" the large man asked.

Darwin nodded. "That's right, we can't prove it. But your family's current situation is probably difficult!

If he refuses, we'll turn around and leave without pestering you."

Darwin smiled. "I can see you're still hesitating, but my time is limited. How about I give you one more minute?

If you still refuse after one minute, then we can leave!"

After speaking, Darwin turned to Ravager and said, "How many are left on the coordinate list Charles gave us?"

"Seventeen! We won't be able to finish them before dark today!" Ravager said somewhat helplessly, complaining, "Charles has been acting like a madman lately, giving us hundreds of coordinates every day, keeping us running around in circles!"

"At least the results are gratifying!" Darwin said, "I heard that Mystique and Siren have completed their first round of missions and have now been promoted to squad leaders."

Ravager retorted, "Too bad we haven't gotten one yet!"

"Take your time, it's just that we chose a different direction and lack a curvy beauty!"

Darwin turned his head. "Sir, what have you decided?"

The large man still didn't speak, but his eyes showed some wavering.

"Is that so? We understand! Then we'll be going!" Darwin nodded, and the two turned to leave. "Call Red Devil, let's go to the next coordinate as soon as possible."

Ravager fiddled with the communicator and said, "Another uncooperative one, Darwin. Are we doing something wrong?"

"We have to respect individual will, even if it means death, it's their own choice! Just like Alice said, under the scouring of the doomsday wave, only those with the wisest vision and who act without hesitation are qualified to survive and become the protagonists of the next era!

Honestly, after so many things, I'm increasingly agreeing with Alice's point of view!"

"Wait!"

The two hadn't walked far when the large man couldn't help but call out to them.

The two exchanged a subtle glance. Darwin turned his head with a slightly impatient expression. "Sir, we're just the Doomsday Self-Help Organization, not the official authorities. If you want to seek help, please call the police!"

The large man didn't speak, beckoning behind him.

A young man in his twenties walked out slowly. He had defined features and fair skin, but his eyes were vertical pupils like a snake's. His figure was supple, giving people the feeling of a snake crawling.

"This is my son, Tim!"

The two only glanced at him and knew that this snake-like young man was a mutant.

Ravager suddenly punched the sky, and a pink energy ball shot into the sky and exploded.

"Tim, right! Now it's your turn!"

Tim's eyes lit up, and he nodded quickly. Suddenly, he opened his mouth wide, sticking out his tongue as four fangs flipped out from his upper and lower jaws. His neck elongated out of nowhere, the outline of his face became triangular, and his skin was covered with snake-like patterns.

In an instant, he turned into a monster with a human body and a snake head.

His father closed his eyes tightly, his hands trembling slightly, not daring to look at all.

Darwin exclaimed, "Good ability! You're one of us. How about it, do you want to come with us? The end of the world is here, and we need to help more of our kind!"

Tim nodded vigorously, quickly returning to his original state. He had just taken a few steps when he suddenly turned to look at his father, a hint of hesitation flashing across his face.

And behind the broken window of the house, the figure of a middle-aged woman loomed.

It was clear that his mother was also very worried.

The two looked at each other and nodded slightly.

Most mutants are orphans, because their unique appearance and uncontrollable strange abilities make it difficult for parents to treat them equally.

Responsible ones will drive them out of the house after they come of age, and some with bad character will even throw the babies directly into the trash.

Therefore, most mutants find it difficult to trust others, and they have layers of defenses deep in their hearts.

But parents like the ones in front of him, who still protect and love their child in their own way even when the child is so abnormal, are as rare as phoenix feathers and unicorn horns.

Darwin hesitated for a moment and said, "Don't worry, given your parents' love for you, I might be able to go back and plead to let your parents transfer to another one of our locations."

"That would be great!" Tim was overjoyed.

A flash of red mist, Red Devil suddenly appeared beside the two, startling the family of three.

Tim's eyes shone. "Cool! You can teleport!"

Red Devil didn't answer, he had seen too many similar looks.

The group held hands, a flash of red mist, and the four disappeared at the same time.

The large man's face was complex as he put down his double-barreled shotgun and whispered, "So they really are the same kind, Tim..."

He slowly closed the door and hid in the cellar with his wife again.

This time, they had a faint hope.
