American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#517 - Alexi the Rhino
On Seventh Avenue, a sudden explosion erupted, sending banknotes flying. A large, two-person-high hole appeared in the wall of the Rooke Central Bank's vault.
A giant, rhinoceros-like robot was lumbering out.
With each step, the ground cracked and crumbled.
The weight was so immense that even the concrete slabs couldn't withstand it, making it clear just how heavy this massive rhino robot was.
Alarms blared, but nearby pedestrians neither screamed nor panicked; they simply turned and ran without hesitation.
Sirens wailed behind them as many people quickly fled, while idlers sipping coffee by the roadside watched with curiosity. They instinctively turned to look, just in time to see the giant rhino.
Alexei, laughing maniacally, picked up a roadside sedan and hurled it away.
With a crash, glass shattered, and several nearby cars were affected, tossed aside like toys.
An SUV was unfortunate enough to crash into a cafe, completely destroying the entire storefront.
As the building collapsed, the owner and customers scrambled away in a panic, managing to avoid being crushed by the falling roof.
Police cars quickly arrived, cordoning off the entire street and using loudspeakers to evacuate the crowd.
New Yorkers had experienced quite a few things, all sorts of strange occurrences, and a constant stream of villains who would pop up from time to time, smashing a car for fun or blowing up a building to relieve stress.
This rhino monster was just ordinary fare.
But despite the complaining, they still had to run.
The police skillfully evacuated the crowd, and the pedestrians expertly took refuge inside nearby high-rise buildings.
Within minutes, the bustling street was quickly emptied, leaving only a section ravaged by the rhino, with wrecked vehicles lying scattered, creating a scene like ruins.
Backup police quickly arrived, expertly positioning their patrol cars as cover and drawing their small handguns to fire continuously.
The power of the police handguns was completely ineffective against the rhino monster.
The bullets impacted the armor in a scattering of sparks, leaving only white dots.
But the blue-flame Gatling guns on the rhino's arms could easily slice the police cars in half.
Alexei laughed maniacally, firing a shot from time to time and watching the police scurry away in a panic, venting his resentment.
These bastards threw him in jail; it was just robbery, yet they sentenced him to life imprisonment.
You bastards all deserve to die, and Spider-Man, he must die too!
Thinking of Spider-Man, Alexei's unstable emotions erupted.
He frantically pulled the trigger, bullets firing like a stream.
The police ducked down and shouted, "Cover, cover!"
They were practically lying on the ground but still couldn't find any chance to fight back; occasionally, a bullet would penetrate a car body, instantly tearing a policeman in two.
Alexei roared madly, "Where's Spider-Man? Call him here!"
It could be said that Alexei's timing was off.
Spider-Man was currently in front of the British Embassy.
He had thought about it for many days and finally understood that he could be Spider-Man anywhere, but true love was only one.
He decided to stop Gwen, confess his feelings to her, and then the two of them would go to London together.
But just then, a news broadcast suddenly appeared on the TV in a roadside cafe, reporting on the rhino monster rampaging wildly on Seventh Avenue.
This person was sentenced to life imprisonment for participating in the robbery of radioactive materials. Judging from his shouts, he has come out this time to seek revenge on Spider-Man.
Currently, the police are exchanging fire with Alexei, but judging from the firepower comparison, it is difficult for the police to suppress the firepower of the weaponized armor.
If there is no strong support, the police will soon suffer casualties.
What we want to know now is, where exactly are you, Spider-Man? Will you really come?"
Peter was engrossed in watching when a familiar voice suddenly came from behind him.
"Peter, what are you doing here?"
Peter Parker quickly turned around, and before him appeared a beautiful face with a radiant smile, the person he had been thinking about day and night.
"Gwen, I need to tell you something very important!"
Gwen nodded, her eyes full of anticipation.
Peter was about to speak when the TV broadcast Alexei's arrogant shout: "I am the Rhino, I said I would be back, where are you, Spider-Man?"
Peter glanced at the TV, and the words he wanted to say were choked back in his throat.
Gwen's expectant eyes gradually dimmed as she looked at the TV.
"Are you going?"
"They need me!"
Gwen was silent.
Peter was full of apologies, stepping back step by step: "Gwen, I really wish I could confess my feelings to you, I don't want to make a choice anymore, I just want to be with you, I want to tell you just how much I love you! But now..."
"Go quickly!"
"You..."
"Go! I'll wait for you!" Gwen nodded at Peter with a sweet smile on her face, like a little fairy.
Peter was overjoyed in an instant.
He rushed up and kissed Gwen hard. Then, in the blink of an eye, he had changed into his Spider-Man suit, shooting out a web and disappearing instantly, a distant voice floating down.
"Give me a minute, I'll be right back!"
Gwen slowly opened her eyes, her fingers gently pressed against her lips, still savoring the wonderful kiss.
She glanced at the shoes and backpack on the ground, then shook her head and skillfully put the backpack on her back.
"As if! But, no matter how long, I will wait for you!"
Gwen raised her bright, pretty face and turned to walk into the British Embassy.
In the TV screen, Spider-Man descended from the sky, ejecting two strands of web, throwing several police cars full of bullet holes directly over.
Alexei lowered his head, and the rhino's huge ramming horn fell, protecting his entire head.
He struggled to charge upwards, actually crashing out against the flying police car.
With a loud bang, the rhino sent the police car flying, splitting it in two, rolling and smashing into the shops on both the left and right sides.
Fortunately, this time there was no one in the shops, but after this impact, the renovations were definitely ruined.
With such a huge surprise, Alexei instantly locked onto Spider-Man, raising the rhino horn, revealing his face, staring at Spider-Man and shouting, "I've been waiting for you!"
Spider-Man held a megaphone in his hand, fiddled with it slightly, and replied easily, "Sorry, I'm late! But now, on behalf of the entire city of New York, I demand that you immediately raise your iron claws and surrender!"
Alexei sneered: "I will tear you to pieces!"
Spider-Man sighed: "Knew it would be like this!"
The momentum of both sides rose, and a great battle was about to break out.
