American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#534 - S.H.I.E.L.D.
In the lab, Fitz took a deep breath as he stood before the teleportation monolith.
Behind the control panel, May and Agent Coulson made a final check of the data. Agent May asked in a cold voice, "Fitz, I'm asking you one last time, are you sure you want to go alone? The other side is an unknown world. You're risking your life! I'm a member of the strike team; even if I encounter danger, I have the ability to protect myself. Why not let me go?"
Fitz shook his head vigorously, nervously gripping the signal gun in his hand. He said, "Jemma must be waiting for me. Precisely because of the terrain and dangerous locations, only I can understand the markings she left behind.
This time, I must go and save her myself!"
Coulson reassured him, "Don't worry. After two weeks of research, we've roughly located the area. In another two weeks at most, we'll be able to accurately control the activation of the teleportation monolith.
You'll only have 30 seconds over there this time. Remember, crawl over, record the surrounding terrain, fire the signal gun, leave behind markings and a supply box, and return immediately!
This time is just for collecting information. We need to obtain more information and confirm the environment on the other side to better grasp the search conditions.
Rest assured, Jemma is definitely still alive!"
Fitz nodded vigorously.
Agent May said in a cold voice, "Countdown 5 seconds... 3, 2, 1, begin!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the teleportation monolith instantly transformed into a liquid, flowing down like a wave.
Fitz lunged forward. While his body was still in mid-air, two figures suddenly shot out from the surface of the quicksand. A red light flashed in the red cloud eyes, colliding head-on with Fitz, who was pouncing over.
Fitz flew backward, his body slamming into a lab table, sweeping a large number of bottles and jars to the ground.
The other two figures only paused slightly, their momentum undiminished, and smashed through the floor like a battering ram, disappearing directly before everyone's eyes.
The sudden and drastic change stunned both people behind the control panel.
Coulson immediately drew his pistol: "Stay alert! Something has come out."
May was even more decisive, pulling a rifle from behind without a word and chambering a round with a click.
Fitz scrambled to his feet, grabbing the signal gun and preparing to rush into the quicksand. But before he could get off the table, the quicksand rippled twice and reformed into the teleportation monolith.
Fitz froze for a moment, then roared out in cathartic release.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!"
The floor had been smashed through, and the alarm sounded immediately.
Corridor doors everywhere automatically locked, the lights dimmed, red lights flashed, and a stern female voice echoed from the loudspeaker.
"Intruder detected, ID xab5sw21795. Coordinates are as follows. Please have nearby security personnel arrive as soon as possible!"
Debris and dust fell from the large hole in the floor, covering the dust-free lab in a layer of gray.
May and Coulson cautiously approached the hole with their weapons, peering down, but found nothing but the ceiling of the floor below.
May glanced around, kicked a lab table over, placed a swivel chair on it, and nimbly climbed up in a few quick movements, pulling herself up to the floor above.
Just then, May's surprised voice came from above: "Jemma?"
Fitz was still regretting that such a rare opportunity had been wasted, when he suddenly heard the name Jemma and looked up sharply.
"Jemma? Jemma, is that you? Have you come back?"
Then, a familiar voice replied from above: "May, long time no see. I've missed you so much! Fitz, don't worry, I'm back!"
Fitz collapsed to the ground, his face breaking into an uncontrollable smile.
"That's her, she's safe and sound. That's great, that's great. I knew she could do it!"
Coulson didn't say anything, but his heart grew more vigilant.
Having been in S.H.I.E.L.D. for so many years, he had seen plenty of conspiracies, tricks, and people with strange abilities.
Even if they only sounded the same, or looked exactly alike, he wouldn't dare say they were the same person.
He needed to see it with his own eyes.
Just as he was about to step forward, May and Simmons jumped down from the hole one after another.
Then they heard chaotic footsteps from above, clearly indicating a large group was approaching.
May said, "Coulson, call the control room and tell them it's a misunderstanding!"
Tears streamed down Fitz's face.
Coulson nodded: "Then, could you please ask your other friend to show himself as well?"
Simmons looked around in surprise: "He's gone?"
May asked warily, "Who is he?"
"He should be an alien. Director, he can manipulate shadows!"
Simmons looked down, not finding anything unusual, then glanced at May and suddenly stared at his shadow, saying, "Feiduan, they are all my friends. They mean no harm. Please come out and explain so we can help you find your way home!"
Everyone present stared at May's shadow.
May expressionlessly lowered the muzzle of his gun, vaguely covering the entire shadow. The muscles in his upper body tensed, as if ready to fire at any moment.
As soon as Simmons finished speaking, a small bulge slowly rose from May's shadow.
Like crawling out of a pond, a humanoid shadow slowly emerged from within.
Finally, the head gradually colored and became solid. Qishan, with a head and a shadow body, greeted everyone: "Friends, do you believe in the Evil God Cult?"
Everyone was speechless. Coulson was the first to react, putting on a smiling face: "Sorry, we only believe in God."
"That's a pity. The Evil God is the truly great God! Gods like that are all false gods!"
Looking at Qishan's blatant words, the scene was silent.
Even Simmons was shocked.
The two had been together for more than two weeks, and they knew each other relatively well. Although she knew that Qishan was religious and a devout believer.
She didn't expect that the other party believed in the Evil God Cult, and even unabashedly called himself the Evil God. This sect was obviously not a legitimate one.
Now, he dared to openly call God a false god. If this were heard by Christian believers, he would be in for a beating.
Just then, a large number of gun muzzles extended from the hole in the ceiling and aimed at Qishan's head. The sound of bullets being chambered merged into one.
The door of the laboratory was pushed open, and an entire assault team rushed in, instantly dispersing and forming an attack formation, surrounding all the members of Coulson's team.
One person stepped out from the crowd, glanced at Simmons, then glanced at Qishan, who only had a head. He sighed and said, "Coulson, I hope you can give me a satisfactory answer this time!"
