American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#608 - Giant rat
"Boss, they're gone!"
The combat specialist led his men into the convenience store, greeting the bald, black-clad man.
His name was Benjamin Kit, and despite the standard Caucasian name, he was actually born into an Indian family.
Years of military service had darkened his complexion, and coupled with his tall stature and non-Indian features, most people assumed he was of African descent.
It was precisely for this reason that he had stood out during the recent impromptu selection, becoming a member of the Ninth Bureau's action team.
The bald man was called Arthur Brennan, previously a leader in the Ninth Bureau's action team, who had been promoted after the expansion to lead his own team on missions.
The other two, although dressed like Men in Black, were actually just technical personnel.
Their mission was to locate the enemy and then retreat as quickly as possible.
"Understood!"
Arthur showed no emotion, simply nodding and continuing to tinker with his laptop.
In the past few weeks, many strange things had happened, and this wasn't the first time he had dealt with police officers bursting with curiosity.
That's why he had delivered that speech so smoothly just now.
These types of people usually can't control their curiosity; no matter how well they promise to stay away, they'll immediately run back at the first opportunity.
Arthur wasn't in the mood to lecture them on confidentiality regulations.
The Ninth Bureau, active everywhere, was already exposed to those who were interested, becoming quite well-known.
The two men were currently in the storage area behind the convenience store.
A bottomless hole about two meters in diameter on the ground was their target.
Arthur picked up the walkie-talkie: "Anything found?"
*Thwack!*
A slimy hand suddenly reached out from the hole, slapping onto the ground and leaving a clear handprint.
Before the other hand could emerge, a pungent, fecal odor spread out.
Arthur and Benjamin's expressions changed instantly, covering their noses and retreating a good distance.
As the two watched, a black-clad man shakily crawled out, his face green, looking like he was about to faint at any moment.
He wiped his face, flicking the green, slimy substance onto the ground, and said in a cold voice, "Where's Duke?"
Another voice immediately came from the walkie-talkie: "Luke, you're out! Find anything?"
Luke roared: "You bastard, tell me! Was it you who pushed me down just now?"
Duke chuckled: "How could it be? I've been acting as bait the whole time. I must say, these two cops are much smarter than the previous ones; they somehow got a drone to do aerial photography. Watch me play with it…"
"Play with your sister! Get your ass back here!" Luke roared, spewing a visible cloud of green gas from his throat.
Arthur and Benjamin shuddered and took two more steps back.
"What are you two doing?" Luke glared.
"Nothing! Nothing!" The two shook their heads in unison.
Luke felt increasingly uncomfortable and didn't bother arguing with these idiots too much, saying directly, "I've checked below. The excrement clearly contains human components, including leg bones and arm bones, but strangely, no other bones were found.
Moreover, the amount of excrement is clearly off; it's almost as exaggerated as an elephant's. If this is just one creature, then even a one-meter-tall rat couldn't do it. This rat must be at least four meters tall!"
"Four meters?!" Arthur exclaimed.
Luke looked up: "What's wrong?"
Benjamin swallowed hard: "If it's four meters tall, wouldn't the body width be at least two meters?"
Luke nodded: "Perhaps even thicker, after all, rats and cats are similar. The difference between a stretched body and a curled-up one could easily be one to two times. Which means, it could reach three meters wide!"
Benjamin immediately said: "Boss, it's been identified as a newly mutated creature. Our current weapons are too weak; I request…"
Before he could finish speaking, a scream suddenly came from the walkie-talkie, startling all three of them.
Arthur's expression changed, and he quickly called out: "Duke? Duke?"
Silence on the other end.
*Thump! Thump! Thump!*
The ground trembled slightly, and a heavy, earth-shaking footstep slowly approached.
Each step created an illusion of earth and mountains shaking.
Luke had already joined the other two; at this point, they didn't care about the stench. They pulled out their guns and pointed them at the warehouse door.
*Bang!*
With an explosion, bricks and stones flew, but the door remained intact. However, a large hole was blasted in the ceiling, and a huge black shadow fell from the sky, crashing heavily onto the ground like a heavy tank dropped from the air.
With a *boom*, the ground caved in, instantly cracking into a spiderweb pattern.
The three men lost their footing and almost fell flat on their faces.
The combat specialist, after all, was an action personnel; even as his body was still swaying, he aimed his gun and pulled the trigger.
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
The bullets struck the target, splashing a few specks of blood.
The target suddenly stood upright, roaring ferociously.
An invisible shockwave spread outwards, instantly clearing away the flying dust.
Once their vision cleared, the three men saw that the bear-like creature in front of them was actually a gigantic rat.
Its eyes were red, its dark and shiny fur was stained with a large amount of dried blood, and its huge teeth were like cutting machine blades; one bite could crack the concrete floor.
"Chicken wings!"
The three men were stunned: "What did it say?"
Luke shouted: "Who cares what it's saying, run!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the three men scrambled to run outwards.
It was too terrifying; a rat as big as a bear was looking for chicken wings to eat. Even nightmares weren't this crazy.
"Chicken wings!"
The giant rat shrieked, suddenly leaping up, a Mount Tai-like crush, instantly smashing a pile of minced meat amid the desperate screams of the three men.
The position might have been a bit off; the upper bodies of the three men had already turned into paste, but the six legs were still intact.
Upon seeing this, the giant rat squeaked excitedly.
Shouting "Chicken wings! Chicken wings!" it swallowed the human legs in one bite, squinting its eyes in satisfaction, and turned to enter the giant rat hole.
Several blocks away, the two police officers' blood ran cold.
The two exchanged a terrified look and hurriedly jumped into their car, not even caring about the drone hovering in the air.
