American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#615 - Robert: Fireball Technique
Robert leaped over the five-meter isolation wall, landing silently.
Before today, this would have been unimaginable.
Even as his own legs propelled him forward, even as he executed extraordinary movements with ease, a sense of disbelief lingered deep within Robert's heart.
It was simply incredible.
He left home and ran to the next block, a total distance of over 5 kilometers, yet he did it in less than 15 minutes.
If he had possessed such superhuman physical abilities during his school days, he wouldn't have been bullied.
In his mind, the training ground of towering mountains, rushing rivers, and cliffside waterfalls was gradually fading; the smiling face of the white-bearded old man went from clear to blurry, until finally, he couldn't recall it at all, all within the span of a dozen minutes.
However, as he ran and utilized chakra, his grasp of the various chakra circulation methods and that single Grand Fireball Technique became even more adept.
A searing chakra constantly lingered in his lungs and throat, giving Robert the illusion that he could unleash a torrent of flames like a dragon with a mere exhale.
Of course, this still required the aid of hand seals.
He had no idea why he needed to form such hand seals to use the Grand Fireball Technique, but the moment he thought of it, his body would already be doing it.
He moved through the military-sealed area as if it were his own backyard.
Like a ghost, he darted through the shadows, moving at lightning speed, occasionally leaping like a great bird, traversing long distances and landing silently on the ground.
The entire process was devoid of any sound other than the rustling of the wind.
Truly unbelievable!
His mind was still filled with amazement, but his body moved naturally. Although he had visited this neighborhood twice before, it was only in passing.
Furthermore, it was now drastically changed, as if some enormous monster had been brooding here, turning the entire neighborhood into ruins, with debris everywhere.
Even the streets were occasionally marked with spiderweb-like cracks.
He didn't know what he was searching for, but in the depths of his mind, an arrow seemed to be guiding him forward.
Soon, Robert landed on the rooftop of a convenience store.
It was an independent gas station, with the convenience store inside. The front was a storefront, and the back was likely a warehouse, not much different from other gas station convenience stores.
However, Robert keenly noticed that the damage here seemed even more severe, as if it had been repeatedly bombarded by thought waves.
Robert sniffed the air, acutely detecting a strong, fishy stench.
With a single hand, he nimbly flipped off the rooftop, and before he could even push the door open to enter the warehouse,
The wall collapsed with a deafening roar.
A gigantic creature, like a battering ram, charged out, shrouded in a rain of flying bricks, lunging towards Robert like a ravenous tiger.
Startled, his body reacted automatically. His hands rapidly formed seals, and a surge of searing chakra flooded his body. He took a deep breath and exhaled explosively.
Fire Release: Grand Fireball Technique!
Scorching flames erupted from his mouth, forming a massive fireball with a diameter of five or six meters ten meters ahead.
The fire glowed red, as if bound by something, constantly rolling forward, directly slamming into the colossal creature.
With a deafening boom, the fireball exploded, enveloping the enemy like a living thing. All the flames converged towards the center, and the immense heat instantly scorched and melted the ground.
Robert retreated swiftly, hiding in a dark corner, his feet wrapped in chakra, ready to evade any attack, his eyes fixed on the fireball in front of him, not daring to relax for a moment.
A shrill scream erupted from within the fireball, its massive volume tearing the fireball apart. The scattered flames rained down like meteors, igniting the surrounding wooden houses, withered trees, lawns, and even the asphalt ground.
Illuminated by the fire, the monster's form finally revealed itself in the red light.
It was utterly hideous, completely blood-red, without a single hair, its face twisted in a ferocious grimace, and its crimson eyes, as large as fists, emitted a bloodthirsty glow.
Robert's jaw nearly dropped.
"Damn it, what the hell is that thing? A hairless, red-skinned rat, but it's way too big, isn't it?"
He didn't know that this rat monster originally had fur, thick and dense, which had evolved over time to provide a weak bulletproof effect.
This was why the army was unable to directly kill the rats when they encountered them in haste.
The rat emerged from underground, simply drawn by the scent of living humans.
It thought it was mealtime, but unfortunately, before it could finish its meal, it was roasted by fire.
Injured, the rat-monster went berserk.
Using its sense of smell, it quickly locked onto Robert's location, opened its blood-filled maw, and unleashed a visible sonic wave.
Robert quickly jumped away. The sonic wave possessed a tangible force, smashing through the house behind him.
It was already a ruin, and now not even a scrap of wall was left, just shattered fragments.
Robert was a little flustered, but his movements remained precise. He formed hand seals and charged forward.
The rat-monster possessed great intelligence. Seeing that his movements were somewhat familiar, it charged forward and swallowed Robert whole.
Its teeth snapped shut, and a cloud of white smoke erupted from its mouth. Immediately afterward, a cracking sound was heard, and splinters of wood flew out.
Robert suddenly reappeared in the air, and as he descended, he rapidly formed hand seals, his chest bulging high. A bright yellow flame was once again expelled.
This time, he used even more chakra, using the Transformation Technique as bait, and attacking from a closer range.
As the flames erupted, they quickly enveloped the rat-monster, instantly rising to the highest temperature like an incinerator.
The rat-monster screamed in agony, struggling incessantly.
Robert stood firmly on the ground, the exaggerated fireball relentlessly pursuing the rat-monster, leaving it no place to hide.
After burning for over a minute, the screams gradually faded, and before a rich aroma of roasted meat could spread, it was overwhelmed by the acrid smell of burning.
The rat-monster that had terrorized the community and defied the army for a month was burned to ashes in a matter of moments by a teenage boy.
Watching the twisted and charred corpse on the ground after the flames subsided, Robert shuddered, turned, and disappeared into the shadows.
Several military armored vehicles suddenly rushed over, quickly surrounding the burning area. Facing the charred corpse, they were on high alert, approaching cautiously.
