American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#667 - Meet Rebecca Again
Night fell, and the Italian restaurant across from the police station was open.
Qi Shan sat in a corner, leisurely eating his meal.
Qi Shan enjoyed the food. Even though he didn't need to eat to maintain his body's normal functions, he still wanted to satisfy his appetite.
The restaurant, located across from the police station, was not a high-end establishment but rather a popular eatery. However, the food was indeed delicious.
No matter where, as long as it was in America, there would always be ambitious young people.
They were usually young, unafraid of the sun and wind, unafraid of going to jail, unafraid of being beaten by the police, and willing to earn money for their families even if it meant living in fear.
They usually chose areas with high foot traffic, such as gas stations, bars, or parking lots.
Qi Shan observed for only a few minutes before quickly identifying two young men.
They occupied a corner of the gas station that cars usually wouldn't pass through when refueling.
But whenever a car drove by and stopped, they would actively approach the car window and chat for a few moments.
Then, they would look around, collect the money, and give the other person a small packet of laundry detergent.
They didn't keep any cash on themselves; all the money was concentrated in one person's hands.
And that person would immediately drive away.
In a city of over ten thousand people, tens of thousands of cash could be gathered every hour, so they always adhered to the principle of submitting the money immediately, resolutely preventing the small fries from taking advantage.
Qi Shan followed behind, tracing the clues to an underground parking lot. After snapping one person's neck, he successfully obtained a bag of cash.
His goal was achieved, and Qi Shan didn't care about how furious those young men selling laundry detergent would be.
He raised his hand to call the waiter, asking him to clear all the plates and bring a fruit salad, and to refill his coffee.
After receiving the tip, the waiter smiled happily.
Qi Shan didn't want to leave just yet. So, while searching for a gun shop that afternoon, he inadvertently sensed Rebecca's life signature.
Qi Shan planned to contact her again.
This young girl appeared frequently in the later stages, and even without the protagonist's halo, she was a very important supporting character.
Moreover, she was a chemical genius and skilled in special operations. Recruiting her as his assistant would be a good choice.
Just after taking two bites of the salad, the police station became chaotic. A group of police officers rushed out of the building and drove away in police cars.
Such a large commotion attracted the attention of everyone in the restaurant.
Qi Shan raised an eyebrow, noticing that Rebecca's life signature had reappeared.
Sure enough, as the police station doors opened, Rebecca and two colleagues walked out, all three looking somewhat unwell.
They stood on the roadside and spoke for a while, then crossed the street and entered the restaurant directly.
The three of them came in and happened to sit in front of Qi Shan.
They were only separated by one table.
The waiter came over, and the three ordered some things casually, then fell into silence.
"Chris…"
Before Rebecca's tall female colleague could say anything, she was interrupted by the male police officer opposite her.
"Jill, you don't need to say anything. I understand everything. There's something fishy about this!"
Rebecca said, "Don't be anxious yet. After all, the matter has become too big. Of the twelve members of the STARS two teams, only four are left in the end. It's no wonder the higher-ups don't believe our report!"
"The chief is an idiot! He must know the inside story, but he's just following Umbrella's orders to suppress all the incidents, just like Wesker," Jill said disdainfully.
"Then what do we do?"
"I won't give up. I must find out the truth and make it public. They are using humans to conduct live experiments. It's simply outrageous!" Chris's eyes were firm.
Rebecca was a little frustrated: "But we've already been forced to take leave. We don't even have law enforcement power now!"
"That's perfect. I don't need that anyway. The Umbrella Corporation's headquarters is in Europe. I'm going to take a trip! Jill, what do you say?" Chris asked.
Jill shrugged: "I want to rest for a while. Since we're already on vacation, I might as well make some preparations in advance.
Chris, did you hear the police dispatch announcement on the radio just now? Zombie-like creatures have appeared on the streets. I can't just leave!"
Chris nodded: "Then be careful! Rebecca, leave Raccoon City as soon as possible. Go anywhere, just leave here for now!"
Rebecca hesitated.
At this moment, a voice came over.
"Looks like you've already discovered the truth!"
The three of them looked up at the same time. Rebecca was a little surprised: "Why are you here?"
Qi Shan smiled and waved slowly.
Jill asked, "Who is he?"
"A strange person!" Rebecca recalled: "He suddenly appeared in the train car. He was very mentally exhausted, as if he hadn't slept for many days, but he was quite capable in combat.
He acted with me until he disappeared after entering the training facility. I thought he was dead, but I didn't expect him to suddenly appear here!"
"So, he's also an insider?" Chris asked.
"I'm not just an insider, but also someone who specializes in handling this kind of thing!" Qi Shan spread out his palm: "Do we have to talk from this far away?"
"Waiter, add a glass!"
Chris called out, then said to Qi Shan: "I think you need a drink too!"
After speaking, he pulled out the chair next to him and made a gesture of invitation.
Qi Shan remained noncommittal and slowly walked over.
"Then please introduce your identity!" Jill said.
"I come from the Vampire Countermeasures Bureau, which specializes in dealing with bizarre incidents. The nature is somewhat like a third-party intelligence agency, but not entirely the same."
Qi Shan took the glass and nodded to thank the waiter.
"Vampire Countermeasures Bureau?"
Jill and Chris exchanged a glance and looked at Rebecca at the same time.
Rebecca said innocently: "Don't look at me. I've only met him once. Speaking of which, his ID looks pretty real, but there's no reference to judge."
Qi Shan smiled and nodded: "I can be called Mike, or Qi Shan is fine! Looking at your expressions, I've already guessed that the higher-ups don't believe the report you wrote at all, right?"
The three didn't speak.
"This is normal. The Umbrella Corporation is manipulating everything behind the scenes. This city is controlled from top to bottom by the Umbrella Corporation. Even your police chief has to obey Umbrella.
The government has been blinded by huge profits. If you want to solve this matter, you have to rely on ourselves. How about teaming up with me?"
