American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#71 - Indigo is here to cause trouble
The Totoro pulled its large head back from underground, returning to its original size.
Qi Shan asked, "Swallowed it whole?"
The Totoro nodded.
"Excellent, that means all four vaults are in our possession."
He glanced at the sky; the horizon was faintly white, and Venus was frighteningly bright. In another hour at most, it would be dawn.
"Then our mission is complete. Retreat!"
Wah wah!
The Totoro cried out twice, rolled over on the spot, and its form suddenly expanded, transforming once again into a miniature Totoro Bus.
Qi Shan climbed aboard, comfortably reclining on the easy chair.
The Totoro leaped nimbly, swiftly departing the crime scene.
On the ground, a massive crater was strikingly conspicuous. Beside it, the Central Bank's signboard lay askew, a huge crack almost splitting it in two, presenting a miserable sight.
500 meters away, on the narrow rooftop of a three-story building that had luckily avoided complete collapse, two figures stood facing each other.
There were no lights around, only pitch darkness, yet it had no effect on the two figures.
A man and a woman.
The woman's attire was bizarre: a skintight suit of solid blue, even her skin was blue, and her red hair was tied into a strange hairstyle. At the very center of her forehead, three red beads formed an inverted triangle.
Bewitching and eerie.
The man was relatively normal, except his expression was too stern, making him seem somewhat rigid.
He wore a standard Kryptonian battle suit, with a small device slung across his shoulder, emitting a faint blue light.
The woman curiously gazed in the direction Qi Shan had left.
"Fascinating. My mind contains the basic information of all life forms in 37 star systems. Yet, on Earth, I still occasionally encounter new races. This truly is a magical place… I wonder if you share the same sentiment, Non?"
Non, one of the Kryptonians who escaped from Fort Rozz, took over as leader after Alex killed Kara Zor-El.
He had been carrying on his deceased wife's legacy, attempting to initiate the Great Purge on Earth.
He should have remained hidden in the shadows, but perhaps this sudden massive explosion drew him out.
Clearly, he wasn't the only one who had been drawn here.
"Why suddenly reveal yourself? If you were hidden, you should have stayed hidden! Brainiac-8," Non said blandly.
"Haha, forget that foolish name. I've renamed myself Indigo!"
"Whatever you call yourself, it doesn't change your cowardly nature. When my wife was alive, you would never have dared to show yourself. Now that she has just passed away, you've jumped out. What exactly do you want to do?" Non's voice was deep.
"Oh, poor Non, even in death, can you not escape her control? I can see that you are still pushing the Great Purge plan. Don't you think that plan is utterly stupid?" Indigo's lips curled up, a hint of mockery in her eyes.
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
"Nothing much, just want to prove to you how ridiculous her so-called plan of coexisting with humans really is?"
Indigo waved her hand, raising her voice: "Look, this is the nature of humans. They are heading towards destruction on their own! Why should we stop them?
You should know that no matter which world, hunters cannot coexist with prey."
Non slightly raised his eyes, "What have you done?"
"Don't be nervous, I just gave them a little push. Before long, hell will descend, and only Kryptonians and I will survive.
This will be our planet!"
Non narrowed his eyes, saying nothing.
Indigo seemed somewhat excited. She picked up her phone and casually dialed a number.
"Then, see you after the apocalypse."
Indigo narrowed her eyes, her entire being transforming into tiny blue particles, flying into the phone like quicksand and disappearing.
DEO Headquarters.
The control room was a hive of activity, everyone working hard to provide disaster relief.
Director Henshaw stared intently at the large screen, reconfirming the progress of resource allocation.
Suddenly, all the display screens flickered, and then jumped to the same image.
A blonde woman sat sideways on a sofa, smiling as she said, "Hello, J'onn J'onzz. I heard that Supergirl was seriously injured, and I came specifically to offer my condolences. How is she doing?"
This is an independent satellite communication channel, using an encrypted signal. Intrusion without permission is a very unfriendly act."
The woman in the image looked somewhat surprised, raising a small hand to cover her mouth, saying, "It's encrypted? I'm sorry, I didn't notice. Perhaps the encryption level is just too low!"
Alex walked over and whispered something to Director Henshaw.
Director Henshaw narrowed his eyes: "Brainiac-8, right? The most unique criminal in Fort Rozz. What exactly do you want to do?"
"You discovered my identity so quickly, quite impressive!
However, I recently gave myself a new name, Indigo!"
"Don't change the subject!"
Indigo smiled: "Nothing much, just want to destroy Earth."
Her casual statement of her purpose caused everyone in the monitoring hall to not react, and after a full six or seven seconds, the hall suddenly fell silent.
All eyes focused on her.
Indigo chuckled: "What, did I scare the little children?"
Director Henshaw's gaze sharpened. "Indigo, don't play tricks. National City has attracted the nation's attention, and the earthquake disaster relief plan has been launched. National Guard troops will enter the city center within two hours. Whatever you want to do, stop it immediately, or you will definitely regret it."
Indigo quietly looked at him for a while, then suddenly smiled.
"To be honest, I'm a little disappointed. The esteemed director of the DEO, turns out you're just this kind of stuff."
Indigo shook her head. "I originally wanted to play with Supergirl, but since she's injured and absent, I'll have to cut the entertainment program and go straight to the point.
You want to save National City? Heh heh, read my lips, don't dream about it!"
Subsequently, all the electronic equipment in the control room exploded one after another.
Exposed currents and sparks flew everywhere, and many people were electrocuted on the spot, instantly falling to the ground and convulsing.
Director Henshaw's face darkened, and he gritted his teeth, saying, "Alex, notify Superman, and call the logistics and medical departments over here. There's no extra time, we need to restore communications as soon as possible."
Alex was also furious.
It was already the busiest time, and now aliens were causing trouble again.
And they were clamoring to destroy the world.
What's more, Kara was still missing, which made Alex even more worried.
But even so, she was first and foremost an agent. She bit her lip, suppressed the distractions in her mind, and quickly ran out of the control room.
