American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#743 - Half-open door

The woman lifted the door curtain and glanced outside, her eyes instantly lighting up as she giggled, "The third watch has been sounding for ages, and I've been waiting and waiting, wondering what to do. You, my dear, have finally returned!"

Then, she looked at Ye Zimei, who was behind Qi Shan, and said with a flirty smile, "What's this? Am I not serving you well enough, so you found another sister?"

Those who run half-doorway businesses are all naturally familiar; otherwise, they can't do business at all.

Although Qi Shan had read some information, this was his first personal experience. He was somewhat stunned by the woman's affectionate yet slightly reproachful demeanor.

He didn't expect that role-playing games already existed at this time.

Her wrists were adorned with two jade bracelets, and various hairpins were inserted into her hair. Judging by the fabric of her clothes and her jewelry, she was likely a popular girl.

Her makeup appeared somewhat old-fashioned, but it created a unique charm when paired with her slightly childish oval face.

Qi Shan now realized that the woman was not very old, probably only seventeen or eighteen.

However, judging by her practiced demeanor, she had obviously been in this business for a long time.

"You have a sharp eye! My sister underwent a disguise, but you still recognized her at a glance!"

Qi Shan took out a few silver dollars from his pocket and slammed them on the table: "Go, get me a basin of water and something to eat!"

"My lord, you jest. How can a woman compare to a man? No matter how she dresses or disguises herself, her frame is still there, her temperament and gait are still there. A discerning person can tell at a glance!"

As the woman spoke, she took two steps forward, glancing at the silver dollars on the table, her face filled with joy.

"Please wait a moment, my lord!"

She greeted him with a smile, lifted her skirt with both hands, swayed her body to the door, and used a bamboo pole to take down the lantern outside. Then, she closed the door, bolted it, and locked it.

Afterward, she walked to the corner of the courtyard, chose a white porcelain basin, drew some water from the well, and brought it directly over.

While Qi Shan was washing his hands, the woman brought over a small stand with a washbasin, a small mirror, a dry towel, a feather duster, and a shoe brush, everything one could need.

Although the small items were not eye-catching, they were all exquisite and lovely.

Arranged together, they gave off a sense of quality.

The woman was also observant. Seeing that Ye Zimei remained silent and didn't seem to have any special relationship with Qi Shan, she realized her previous guess was wrong.

However, she didn't say anything, but served Qi Shan with a gentle smile, helping him take off his outer robe.

She used the feather duster to dust off Qi Shan's body.

Then, she went into the main room and lit a windproof lamp.

The room became noticeably brighter.

Qi Shan and Ye Zimei lifted the door curtain and walked in one after the other. The woman had already carried a small table and placed it on the heated brick bed.

Then, she went to the kitchen and brought a large kettle and a plate of various foods.

Perhaps because Qi Shan was generous, the woman had somehow managed to get a pork knuckle, stewed until tender and placed in a large bowl, in the center of the table.

"My lord, please enjoy your meal. I have two pounds of authentic Shaoxing wine in my room, I'll warm it up for you. There are cornbread and white flour buns in the steamer on the stove, they're heating up now, I'll bring them up when you're almost finished drinking!"

After speaking, the woman folded Qi Shan's black robe and placed it directly in the cabinet.

Then, she went out to collect the silver dollars.

Qi Shan was not hungry; with his body, he could go without eating for a year.

Ye Zimei was truly hungry.

In the previous task, she was captured by Qi Shan and forcibly turned into a puppet.

After completing the task and returning to Infinite City, she didn't even have time to eat before being controlled by Qi Shan again to tour and study everywhere.

Then, she entered a new plane without stopping.

It wasn't until her main body appeared in front of her through time and space that Ye Zimei's body couldn't bear it anymore and sent out a strong signal of protest.

Hungry, want to eat!

There were several side dishes on the table, including dried tofu, stinky tofu, and stir-fried seasonal vegetables.

Although the portions were not large, the presentation was quite beautiful, and with a large bowl of pork knuckle in the center, it made one's appetite soar.

Qi Shan didn't eat much, he simply tasted it and put down his chopsticks.

But he controlled Ye Zimei's body to eat ravenously. Originally a lovely girl, she was now completely disregarding her image, grabbing the pork knuckle and gnawing on it desperately.

The woman came back once in the middle, bringing a large plate of steamed buns and a pot of wine.

Seeing Ye Zimei's eating habits, she was first a little surprised, then her eyes smiled until they disappeared.

"Eat slowly, eat slowly! Don't just eat meat, it's easy to choke. Drink some wine, eat some steamed buns, that's better for your body!"

After speaking, the woman turned her head to look at Qi Shan.

"My lord, it seems that this sister must be very hungry. Don't let her eat too much, it's easy to overwhelm her body at first."

She didn't ask any further questions, but gave a few concerned instructions, poured a full cup of wine for Qi Shan, and prepared to serve Qi Shan his meal.

Qi Shan waved his hand, stopping the woman's small hand.

"I'm not hungry, mainly this little girl! By the way, is there a Yonghe Teahouse nearby? Do you know where it is?"

"I know, it's just outside the alley, turn left.

Yonghe is an old brand. The owner's surname is Liu, and his family has been making tofu for generations. It's said that it's been passed down for three or four generations. Unexpectedly, when it came to his generation, he didn't make tofu and ran to open a teahouse.

His tea-making skills are said to be just average, but he often hires storytellers to narrate, so business is so-so.

The Liu shopkeeper's soy milk is really good, fragrant and rich. Drinking a bowl is like eating a bowl of meat. Many people line up at the teahouse before dawn every day. However, it seems like Shopkeeper Liu is sulking with someone, and he won't make soy milk until the teahouse is really unsustainable, which makes many neighbors gnash their teeth!"

Speaking of this, the woman raised her sleeve to cover her cherry mouth and chuckled.

Is that how Yonghe Soy Milk came about? That's a long historical heritage!

"I plan to start a business. Is there anyone nearby who can speak with authority? Can you help me build a relationship and introduce me?"

Ye Zimei's task is not a big deal. Whether it's killing people, doing tasks, or preparing hundreds of taels of silver, it's easy for Qi Shan.

Only joining the Crocodile Gang is more troublesome. Gangs these days can't be joined on a whim.

You have to have a proper recommender and a guarantor, otherwise the Hongmen and Qing Gang of later generations wouldn't have so many cumbersome rules.
