American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#759 - The Walking Dead

A gloomy sky, howling north wind, and deserted streets.

Even though the buildings were standing and the shops were open, the lack of human activity created a vast sense of desolation.

Ye Zimei, dressed in a maid outfit, stood by the roadside, rubbing her teeth and looking rather dejected.

"I remember ordering an Aladdin's lamp, so how did I end up in the world of The Walking Dead? More zombies…"

Qi Shan wanted to maintain a poker face, but he was currently using Ye Zimei's body, and under Qi Shan's control, her face was naturally cold and expressionless.

Suddenly, a tattered newspaper blew in the wind and plastered itself against the windshield of a car parked by the road.

The unfolded newspaper revealed a bold, enlarged headline.

"Compensatory Mission, Simple Scenario: Survival."

"As a seasoned Reincarnator, entering a zombie world is like entering an amusement park! The unique nature of the previous mission has triggered this compensatory mission!"

"Mission Objective: Survive in a hell filled with the walking dead for three months.

Use your abilities to find ways to thrive. After the mission ends, you will receive rewards based on your performance."

As soon as Qi Shan finished reading, the newspaper fluttered twice and was swept away into the sky by the whirlwind, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

"No wonder the three options that appeared before me vanished in a flash. It turns out that Jealousy's rule-breaking operation last time caused the system to give me a compensatory bonus."

Qi Shan had to admit that this was indeed a bonus.

Although the world before him was somewhat different from what Qi Shan had imagined, it was still a complete world. Although the zombie virus had completely broken out, it didn't seem as severe as in Resident Evil.

It seemed that the main focus was on the infighting between people, with zombies usually just serving as a backdrop.

Since it was just a survival mission, there was no need to look for the main characters. However, three months seemed a bit too long. If he wanted to build a complete settlement, he would need the protagonist's help.

Thinking of this, Qi Shan didn't hesitate and opened a portal, appearing next to Ye Zimei.

The Walking Dead… Qi Shan didn't have a deep impression of this American drama. He only remembered vaguely watching a few episodes many years ago.

It seemed that the entire series was about constantly escaping, seeking safe havens, people dying from various accidents, and new people constantly joining, with everyone on the edge of struggling for survival.

Under such external circumstances, internal conflicts never stopped, and different personalities and experiences created different characters. Even though there were only a few people left, they still couldn't get along, and even turned against each other.

This drama didn't focus too much on the depiction of zombies, but it offered a penetrating portrayal of human nature.

For Qi Shan, such a world wasn't even at the amusement park level.

Looking at the deserted street, Qi Shan had no impression of the surroundings and couldn't determine his current location.

He lightly raised his right hand, and a small vortex appeared in his palm. Then, a small, open-top electric car slowly drove out and expanded as it landed.

The electric car was small, but thanks to Dr. Gero's modifications, energy was no longer an issue.

Dragon Ball's technology was always unique, so the small electric car in front of him looked very cute.

It was entirely orange, and besides the similarly colored awning, there were only two seats. Behind the seats was a car-mounted mini-fridge filled with snacks and beer.

The wheels were small, but they spun very quickly. Stepping on the accelerator could easily reach 60 mph, making it unsuitable for long journeys but perfect for exploring the city.

The two got into the car, and Qi Shan drove the small car along the street and into the community.

Survival wasn't a problem for the two of them at all. They didn't need to worry about resources. With an entire world as their backing, it wouldn't be a problem to support ten or twenty thousand people.

Zombies and the like weren't even worth mentioning. Even if there were many, they couldn't break through the defense line formed by the drone network.

So, the two of them were now aiming to find more survivors and quickly establish a survivor team.

Then, they would find a safe place as a shelter, recruit more people to build a qualified settlement, and preferably make it more sustainable.

This way, they could get a higher score when they returned.

Driving through the streets and alleys, Qi Shan drove the electric car around, occasionally having zombies chase after them, which Ye Zimei would take care of.

Qi Shan had prepared a slingshot and a large number of steel balls for her. Using chakra-enhanced strength to pull, the power of the steel balls could be compared to a sniper rifle.

Generally, when a steel ball hit, let alone the neck, the body could be torn in two.

However, in order not to attract attention, Ye Zimei could be more discreet, simply using the steel balls to enter through the eye sockets and turn the zombies' brains into mush, without making the scene too bloody.

But even so, the small car had made quite a bit of noise along the way.

Just as they were about to leave the town after passing through one community after another, a person suddenly rushed out from the corner of an alley.

This person was dressed in a soldier's uniform, with a fierce expression. He held a pistol in his left hand, with a large silencer attached to the barrel. His right hand was missing, replaced with a knife by some means.

Combined with his strong physique and the scars on his face, he certainly looked intimidating.

"Stop the car! I said stop the car!"

He suddenly rushed out from the side and roared, holding the gun.

He clearly deliberately lowered his voice, afraid that his voice would attract the attention of zombies.

You should know that I just don't want to waste bullets!"

The large man's expression was very fierce, and the look in his eyes towards Ye Zimei was filled with blatant desire.

As expected, these kinds of things always appear in the apocalypse.

But after all, he was the first person they had encountered, and there were still many questions to ask, so he would spare his life for now.

Qi Shan's heart stirred, and a golden vortex suddenly appeared behind the large man. A drone slowly flew out, its gun barrel gently pressing against the back of the large man's head.

The large man's body stiffened, but a ferocious look appeared on his face.

"No wonder you're so calm. It turns out you have accomplices. But it doesn't matter. I have two lives in my hands now. I don't believe your accomplice will shoot directly…"

"Bang!"

Before he could finish speaking, several bullets simultaneously pierced the large man's arm. He screamed, and the gun dropped to the ground.

Several gun barrels slowly retracted from the vortexes that appeared in mid-air.

Qi Shan shook his head: "There are always people who like to court death!"
