American Comics: The Mighty Superman, Starting From Gwen Spider

Chapter 49: Preparations Before The War, Barry's Confusion

"Olisiet! SuperMan?!" Barry paused between each word, looking at Peter and Kayla in astonishment.

In Barry's original world, he was found by Bruce Wayne and joined the Justice League.

At that time, the Justice League had just been formed, and Superman did not exist because... Superman died in the battle with Doomsday.

Later, Darkseid's minions, the Parademons, arrived on Earth. In order to enhance their own combat power, several members of the Justice League had to dig up Superman's body from the grave and revive him using the skills of the Mother Box and the Kryptonian spaceship.

The resurrected Superman wore a black battle suit and fought alongside The Flash and others, working together to defeat the Parademons.

Barry recalled the fragments in his mind. Although these memories felt strange when Barry thought about them, the current situation didn't allow him to think too much.

Staring intently at Peter, who was wearing a black battle suit, with a body that seemed taller and more muscular than Clark's, and a handsome face that perfectly matched the identity of Superman, this series of perfect qualities made Barry doubt his own life.

"Are you SuperMan? Clark Kent?" Barry stepped forward quickly.

"I am not Clark." Peter looked at Barry in confusion.

According to reason, the Barry in front of him came from a later timeline in the DCEU. As someone with the ability to participate in the plot, he would never miss the battles in the DCEU world.

As a member of the Justice League, Barry Allen from the later timeline of the DCEU should have seen him.

But in fact, Barry Allen seemed to not recognize himself.

"Who is Clark?" Kayla, who was beside them, looked at Barry and asked curiously.

"Clark is...," Barry paused, hesitating, and said, "Let me change my name. Clark is Superman's name on Earth, his Kryptonian name is Kal-El."

"Kal-El?!" Kayla furrowed her brows, "Kal is my cousin, I am his cousin."

"What, what?!" Barry stepped back in shock, finally realizing that things had taken a major turn.

"Wait, let me gather my thoughts."

Barry took a deep breath, rubbed his temples, and calmed himself down, "You're not Clark Kent, right?"

"I am not Clark," Peter responded calmly.

"Wow... so you're a Kryptonian? When Krypton was about to be destroyed, you were sent to Kansas on Earth, right?"

"Not exactly." Peter looked at Kayla beside him, "I don't belong to Krypton, Kayla is from Krypton. When Krypton was about to be destroyed, she was sent to Earth."

"Originally, Kayla was supposed to come to Earth with her cousin Kal, but due to certain reasons, they got separated, so only she came to Earth."

"Kayla has been trapped on Earth and unable to leave, and I recently rescued her." Peter's words left Barry completely bewildered in place.

What the hell?

Why did this world suddenly become so unfamiliar?

"Do you know where my cousin is?" Kayla flew forward, her sharp gaze causing Barry to step back two steps.

"Wait a minute! I am good friends with your cousin! It's just that I don't belong to this timeline... Let me explain what happened..."

Barry Allen proceeded to recount the events of how he traveled back in time to save his mother.

"So, you're saying that our current world is a branch created due to your alteration of the timeline?" Kayla asked, furrowing her brows.

"Yes."

"But now I've lost my super ability, and I should have returned to my original timeline!"

"Because I changed the past, Zoom appeared again... So I could only bring the version of myself from this current timeline to seek Batman's help. I thought with Batman's ability, he could easily find Superman's hidden identity, but... things didn't go as I expected." Barry rubbed his temples in anguish.

Batman observed Peter and Barry, combining their explanations, and a faint answer formed in his mind.

Bruce felt... if he hadn't misunderstood, Peter and the Barry in front of him... should have traveled from different universes.

Kayla also had a realization, and her super brain instantly analyzed a multitude of information.

"Although I'm not Clark, our goals should be aligned now." Peter patted Barry's shoulder and walked towards Batman amidst his astonished gaze.

"Bruce, what do you think of my previous proposal? Have you considered it?"

Bruce lowered his head and pondered for a few seconds before asking, "Are you really sure I can be of help?"

"Definitely, you're Batman."

"In that case, I'll give it a try." Bruce looked at the people present and shrugged.

...

Peter recounted the relevant information about Zoom and his associates, and Bruce began to formulate the next plan of action.

With nothing else to do, Peter struck up a conversation with Barry, who came from the DCEU timeline.

"Hey! Honestly, I think you're the Superman of this world! Dude, has anyone ever told you how incredibly handsome you are?" Barry greeted him from the stone steps.

"Thank you for the compliment, Barry."

"Superman, I'm actually a bit confused."

"Confused?"

"Yeah." Barry organized his thoughts and continued, "I feel like I know you very well, but there's absolutely no trace of you in my memories. It's strange."

"Oh?" Peter glanced at Barry Allen, deep in thought.
