Another Stupid Isekai
662 Days UNKNOWN: Equal Rival, Part I
When I opened the door he was there, surrounded by a bit of sand that actually disappeared.
A dark blue robe, torn at the edges, with a heavy breastplate covering his torso. There was an open, tall collar surrounding his head, clearly there to protect the neck, but now it didn't really matter.
His skull was practically bare, with very thin skin stretched on it, and a crown of spikes curved slightly inwards made of some silverfish alloy, which fused with his bones.
He had two rods of dark metal, levitating behind him, both at least two meters long, almost matching his height. They were crackling with lightning surging through them. Buzzing like a swarm of angry hornets.
My observation lasted a fraction of a second because I knew that there was no place for looking at him. I evacuated via shadow walk, just in time to avoid two chains of lightning spreading straight from the entrance, all the way to the near building, which got covered in them like with a moving spiderweb.
The sound of thunder shook the vicinity, as I activated my skills making this dark space even darker. The shadow essence spilled into that world and started swirling around, moved by invisible winds, which further, on the horizon, moved massive walls of darkness.
My body also changed with the void essence cursing through my veins. My skin turned to the color of ash, while my veins became completely black. Just like my lips, hair, and nails.
I summoned my weapon and a horde of shadows, which crawled out of every possible dark corner in a wide area.
That's how the battle started.
I did some retreating at first, sending my mindless soldiers to fight in my name, so I could get a grasp on what I was dealing with, as I landed on the roof of a nearby building - one of a regular size. Meanwhile, a large chunk of my troops got torn to shreds by electricity, which was surging through the levitating rods and the ghosts slowly walking in front of them.
I didn't have time to observe for too long, because the solid matter under my feet suddenly became sand, which transformed into a giant hand that tried to catch me.
I did escape with relative ease, but then I got to experience something remarkable about that particular enemy. I got quite far from him, gaining more and more distance with every moment, but he, barely following me, as he kept walking, was able to sustain his assault. Everything around me was turning to sand, then shifting into those massive hands, which tried to catch me.
But the worst part was the freaking sea of sand, following in form of massive, tsunami-like, waves.
- Fuck you! - I growled at some point, pissed because I couldn't find a proper ground under my feet.
The Moloch stepped into the arena, tearing the ocean apart, as he emerged from under it. His massive hands, reached out, stretching for a few hundred feet, before they descended down, as the gargantuan monster climbed his way from the path opened for him straight to the void.
He got out halfway, before a surge of lightning energy blasted from the sky above blinding me, and making the whole area very bright for a moment. It was enough to destroy my summon, and turn the sand into a massive rose of jagged glass.
I used the word 'rose' but it looked more like a different flower. It was beautiful, but also very sharp and clearly dangerous.
I only bought it from the corner of my eye, focusing more on how to win this fight. I began creating a swarm of firebirds, as I kept circling way around the ghosts, not daring to get any closer.
I made a few thousand, before sending the bombardment at the ghost, who didn't really seem to care. They all swarmed him, creating this massive chain explosion, which shook the vicinity, making the ground shiver, and the glass rose sang us a song, thanks to the vibrations.
For me, it was just an opening. After I found myself a suitable footing, while my birds were still going off, I brought both my hands to the ground, and for the first time went all out with the fire magic I never dared to use before, because it seemed to be too devastating.
A loud crack brought a full-scale earthquake to the megacity. Few buildings collapsed immediately, while the rest kept drifting on the dangerously moving ground. The earth, under the outer shell of a concrete-like substance, split in half, bringing complete devastation into the area, and taking down more of the architecture.
Then an orange glow appeared, and shoot straight up, reaching the sky. It was hot lava, chased by the emerging walls of a full-scale mountain.
Yes, I made a freaking volcano.
I observed the destruction with my ears and other keen senses, looking for anything which could alarm me that my move was not sufficient to bring down the ghost, but the deafening noise created by the ongoing reaction made it almost impossible to detect anything.
Everything was moving, everything was shaking. The colors were too bright, and the volume of destruction too high. It made me restless, so I quickly decided to move, evacuating a bit further, although not too much.
I soon learned that it was a very correct decision because this whole raging, spitting fire mountain, as if like with a snap of fingers, turned into a simple and dull pile of sand.
My eyes went wide in shock because that was a move I didn't expect. The fact that I relocated, also was very crucial, because the roof I occupied just a moment before got melted in fragments of a second, by a massive surge of electricity falling from above, stretching on the whole sky, I could grasp with my sight, through this gargantuan webbing, which fused into a single pillar, that blasted straight down. Melting a hole, probably quite close to the very core of the planet.
