Azeroth Monster Manual

#19 - Traces of Mosh and the mysterious colorful gems

In the vast, boundless primeval forest, two figures, one tall and one short, darted between the trees, occasionally startling a flock of birds.

“The footprints disappeared…”

Hermit squatted down with a solemn expression, grabbed a handful of compacted soil, brought it close to his nose, and sniffed carefully.

“The footprints are still fresh. Logically speaking, with that beast's tonnage, it shouldn't be able to lose its tracks so silently.”

Aier frowned, looking at the endless expanse of green lake water in front of him. He stood there quietly, lost in thought, as if contemplating something.

“Sir?”

Hermit looked at the elven boy beside him with some doubt. According to his many years of hunting experience, he should immediately search for the monster's tracks, not stand here in a daze.

“Take your time…”

“Hermit, tell me about that beast.”

Hearing Aier's words, the old dwarf fell into reminiscence. After a moment, he said:

“It's a Devil Dinosaur with brown skin, and light brown纹路 patterns winding around its thick body. Its appearance is about seventy percent similar to the ‘material’ you killed last time.

But that beast is too big, about 4-5 times the size of an ordinary Devil Dinosaur.

Oh, and there's one more strange thing, its eyes are red. When we first saw it, it was gnawing on its own tail…”

Hermit stroked his beautiful beard, recounting everything that happened in detail to Aier.

“Red eyes? Devouring its own tail? I feel like this beast isn't just ordinary ‘big’.”

The young man ended the conversation and began to circle around the huge lake. The old dwarf didn't know why, so he could only patiently accompany the young man in circles.

‘There are a small amount of energy fluctuations remaining in the air. This energy is very peculiar, mixed with the variability of arcane magic, and also with a trace of vigorous vitality…’

“Hermit, think carefully, after encountering this Tyrannosaurus called ‘Mosh’, what else happened? I know this may be cruel to you, but if you want revenge, it's necessary.”

“Let me think…”

Hermit vigorously rubbed his shiny forehead, starting to think hard, which made Aier feel embarrassed.

“I've got it, Lord Aier, there is one more detail that I missed.”

Hermit seemed to have thought of something. He excitedly grabbed Aier's hand, scaring the young man into a shiver, almost throwing the old dwarf out.

He ignored the young man's excessive movements and began to explain in detail:

“After my companions were killed, I was the only one left to escape…”

Speaking of this, the burly dwarf man finally couldn't stop the sad thoughts and began to cry.

“Waking up in the middle of the night, my mind is full of the tragic deaths of my companions…”

“Catherine - that beautiful girl from Lok Modan, that strong, brave dwarf girl with beautiful flaxen hair.

She had both legs bitten off by that beast, she painfully moved her body and crawled towards me, and I could do nothing but scream…”

“Aiernuo, that human cub, he always liked to crawl up in the middle of the night and tug on my beard when he was alive, oh, no, I shouldn't call him a cub, he was just a child, he died so miserably… Wuwu…”

Hermit lay on the ground, his body convulsing, his fists hitting the ground hard until they were bloody.

Aier stood silently on the side. Coming to this world with a heavenly start, he had not experienced any setbacks, let alone cared about the past of these ‘little people’.

Until he came to this strange continent alone, experienced the first setback in his life, and made the first friend in his life.

Seeing the joys, sorrows, and sorrows of these ‘little people’, he realized that this was a living world. For the first time, he had the emotion of ‘compassion’.

He is not a game character who is ‘leveling up’, he is a person, a person with flesh and blood, a living person.

Just like now, Aier was angry. Beneath his silent face, a volcano about to erupt was brewing, not for others, but only for the dwarf man kneeling on the ground, crying his heart out.

‘Hoo, this is the feeling of being alive. No wonder people in the previous life always said that there is no World of Warcraft without brothers.’

Aier secretly wiped the crystal liquid from the corner of his eyes. He did not comfort Hermit, but just sat quietly beside the dwarf, gently patting his spine.

As if feeling the power of emotion, Hermit stopped crying. He embarrassedly wiped the snot stuck on his beard, gave Aier a bitter smile, and then said with a crying voice:

“I'm sorry, I'm a coward, I…”

Aier interrupted the dwarf's words and said softly:

“No, you are a hero, you are already on the road, aren't you?”

Hermit couldn't help but shed tears again. He looked at Aier complexly and nodded heavily.

“When that beast chased me, I was very terrified and didn't notice anything. That beast was very fast. I almost got caught up by it after only running a few hundred meters.

But it seemed to be held back by something. I glanced at it out of the corner of my eye. It seemed to be devouring a kind of stone, a stone that emitted colorful light…”

“Stone? Colorful?”

Aier seized the key words and began to ponder carefully.

After a long time.

“Is there a possibility that Tyrannosaurus King Mosh devoured this kind of stone with colorful light, which is why it mutated so hugely and violently.

The red eyes represent a chaotic mind, and the act of biting the tail also indirectly proves this point. Perhaps it is also possible that the desire for this colorful gem caused him to have hallucinations?”

Aier unconsciously said the thoughts in his heart to Hermit.

“L… Lord, it is very possible. The mental state of that beast was indeed not quite right. It did not choose to eat after killing my companions, which gave me a chance to bury them.”

Hermit said excitedly.

“In short, no matter what, that colorful gem has an inseparable connection with Tyrannosaurus King Mosh, so our direction can also be determined.”

“Sir, what are we going to do next?” Hermit asked with some doubt.

“I have already remembered the taste of that gem. Next, what we have to do is find this gem. As long as we find this colorful gem, then Mosh is not far away!”

PS: I wish all readers a smooth and prosperous new month.

The editor told me to write about 4000 words a day, because I still need to save up manuscripts for more updates after it is on the shelf, but as a reader, 4000 is still too little, so the author decided to update more.

There will be two more chapters later, begging for monthly tickets, recommendation tickets, and those who haven't bookmarked, please bookmark it~
