62 Vision (2)
Though many more creatures started coming out of the water, they were not less scary than the azure monstrosity the man was fighting. As more beasts emerged, many more gunshots reverberated through the air.
A myriad of monsters got out of the water; Emily observed as the unknown woman shot them down one by one, making the water from which they came out to turn blood red.
They all looked like fish except for their arms which protruded grotesquely from their sides: they could walk on land or swim through the water just by flexing those limbs.
The creatures came in various sizes—some larger than humans, some smaller—and each was armed with claws and sharp teeth.
One thaid after another fell before the woman's bullets too, but there was no end to them. The woman was taking them down as fast as she could, but even then, it wasn't enough, and some of the thaids started swarming the sword-wielding man.
The thaids she was killing desperately tried to escape her bullets, plunging into the water repeatedly to escape death while trying to keep themselves alive.
Their movements resembled nothing so much as struggling otters, Emily noted. More thaids appeared beside the unknown man and began attacking him together.
This new development made things harder for the swordsman because he now had countless foes instead of one.
He fought back fiercely, slashing his way through the thaids' ranks, unleashing his multiple powers against the creatures and killing a good batch of them, all while desperately trying to avoid the azure thaid's attacks.
The woman shot down any thaid that went too close to the swordsman, often saving him from dangerous attacks that could have threatened his life. It became apparent how valuable this mysterious lady really was.
The thaids kept coming, and soon, more than two hundred surrounded the man.
Though, he started channeling mana through his brain crystal and immediately unleashed a giant explosion that vaporized any monster in his vicinity. Only the azure thaid remained. As he killed the other thaids, he immediately got a surge of mana and started fighting as if invigorated.
"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?" Emily asked in incredulity.
The azure beast kept sending attack after attack at the swordsman, who avoided them all and counter-attacked when possible. Though the thaid progressively showed more earth-shattering powers making the man's situation appear bleak. It looked like he couldn't win.
The azure beast sent wave upon wave of its azure energy blasts at the man, and every single one missed. However, every attack crashed against the trees behind them, some passing through Emily's ghostly body.
The young woman turned to look at the aftermath of these devastating attacks, only to see trees upturned, earth raining down from the sky, and giant fuming craters all around the lake. Then suddenly, something happened that surprised everyone present. A huge blue sphere formed around the azure thaid, which grew bigger until it was about sixty meters large.
The sphere expanded further until it suddenly started shrinking until it got absorbed by the azure thaid whose throat started enlarging and beaming white light.
The beast moved its head back, it opened its mouth, and a white beam emerged from inside his throat, piercing the sky and creating a bright flash. When the light faded, an enormous fire spread in the surroundings, setting even the bare earth on fire.
"How is this possible? It doesn't make any sense! Is this even real?"
Emily knew that what she was looking at was bound to come true someday, and it was then that something sparked inside of her. She had to find this man. If a thaid like this ended up inside the human-controlled continent, only doom would come.
This beast was too strong. Not only it had multiple powers, but its strength was also enormous. It wasn't like there weren't humans capable of unleashing such devastating attacks, but they could do it mostly once or twice in a short period.
Instead, this beast was able to spew multiple balls of doom capable of leveling entire cities without effort. But what was more surprising was that the swordsman could fight head-on against this beast.
Moreover, the man wielded an insane amount of power, and he could be a danger greater than the thaid itself. She had to find him before anything bad happened.
While Emily was taken by her own thoughts, the swordman's body started glowing with blue energy. It was like he was charging something.
While the man floated in mid-air, the thaid kept attacking him with his energy blasts, but it couldn't hit him. When the man was finally ready, it released immense energy toward the azure thaid, tearing its entire body apart.
All the thaids around him perished instantly, being vaporized by the swordsman's power, and leaving only the man standing alone amidst the wreckage.
He seemed completely unharmed, save for being covered in sooty black dust. His face showed signs of exhaustion and fatigue, but he didn't seem harmed.
Emily watched breathlessly as the strange scene unfolded, but it was then that the vision started turning cloudy.
"NO! I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN THE MAN'S FACE!" Emily shouted. Though, after a couple of moments, everything went dark, and she opened her eyes.
As Emily regained consciousness, she saw her father worriedly looking at her with a pale look.
"EMILY! WHAT HAPPENED?!"
"Dad...?"
"Yes, it's me, honey, it's daddy..."
Emily was a bit confused; how much time had passed since she started having her vision? For her, only half an hour did pass, but by looking at their parent's worried faces, it was probably much more...
"How much time did pass?" The young woman asked.
"8 hours..." her father replied.
"8 HOURS?" She asked again in disbelief.
"Yes, honey," her mother, Lucy, said.
"Can you tell us what you did see?" Richard asked her daughter.
"It's complicated," Emily said. "I saw a lot," she added.
Slowly, the young woman recounted what she saw during her vision. However, she kept out that the man and the thaid in question were fighting using multiple powers. She only said that the two were incredibly powerful, probably the strongest living beings on the planet.
She didn't exactly know why she didn't say this to her parents. Still, something was screaming inside her not to reveal this information to anyone.
Whenever Emily had this feeling, she followed it, and it was the right thing to do every time. So she didn't say anything regarding the matter and kept this part of her vision a secret.
"Were you able to see who the two people were?" Lucy asked her daughter.
"Not at all, mom... Everything was clear, but for their faces." That was the weirdest thing. Emily's visions were usually very blurred, not only people's faces but also her surroundings.
For this reason, it was weird for her to perfectly see and feel the forest, the thaids, the powers, and everything else but not be able to see who the two people were.
"It doesn't matter, honey, we will find them," Richard said with a worried tone. He knew how serious the situation was. Whenever his daughter had a vision, something bad was going to happen.
Luckily the future could be changed, so Richard was confident that, with his resources, he would prevent whatever disastrous event his daughter saw.
