Chapter 475: 52. Strange fog seals the city

   Chapter 475 Fifty-two.

  clang——clang——clang——

The distant church bells reverberated in the obscurity and darkness of the evening.

The crying child was carried home by the parents, the wooden doors of the shops were closed one after another, and the curtains behind the windows were drawn by the panicked people.

Pedestrians soon disappeared from the streets, and there was only a mess left, with the bells echoing in the night sky and the inaudible shouts of government officials.

Bright and powerful light shines through almost every window, illuminating the whole of Belfast.

But this prosperous night scene was suppressed in anxiety and panic.

The whole city fell silent, only the bells and shouts of the churches echoed everywhere.

  …

   The drizzle of Rodester Harbor.

Langdon turned his gaze back to Belfast and landed on the lighthouse in the reef along the fading coastline.

Intense, bright beams directed the returning ships, but there were no ships outside the bay by this time—except for the one that had been reported as unusual not long ago.

But there are no living people on it.

The strange fog brewing on the sea is coming towards Belfast, and the vigils who stayed in the port to deal with the strange night have to usher in the third bad news: the coming strange fog hinders their search for the source of the epidemic.

The first two bad news are that the source has not been found and the number of passengers infected by the epidemic is abnormally large.

But there is also good news: the epidemic was controlled by them on the passenger ship coming from the main continent, and it did not spread.

Crew passengers on other ships and workers at the port lined up in long queues to be tested by the joint organization.

Da da da--

Langdon looked at the sailboat that was docked in the harbor, almost hidden in darkness.

The crisp, rapid sound from the hard soles of the boots represented his mood at the moment.

It was getting darker, but the inspection of the port's workers, crew and passengers was only halfway done.

They couldn't have let thousands of untested people into Belfast, it would have been a disaster, the one that destroyed the largest city on the Allen Peninsula.

Fortunately, the buildings and docked ships in the port were barely enough to accommodate these people.

Now, before the strange fog arrives, they need to detect as many people as possible and send them out of Rodster Harbor.

   "Damn the ghost weather!"

Langdon gritted his teeth and cursed, and the white mist came out of his nose and mouth, bringing insignificant warmth to the frozen red nose.

He can only vent his complaints about all this on the temperature.

This anxious and restless wait gathered by thousands of people in the port lasted for less than ten minutes, or even shorter. The beam of light from the lighthouse in the distance to the deep sea suddenly flickered a few times and gradually dimmed.

Above the sea, Hanukkah was retreating, and something was surging in the dark, hitting Belfast.

The team that was barely maintaining order became restless at this moment. The panicked people screamed and rushed to the blockade. The sky was filled with "fog!" "Run away!"

boom! boom!

The deafening gunfire made the port quiet for a moment, and the people who returned to their senses finally thought of the previous orders of the United Organization and ran to the buildings on the port.

Landon grabbed a crew member who was running into him in a panic, and shouted, "Spooky things are approaching, everyone! Hide in the building!"

then pointed not far away and shouted to the crew: "Hide inside!"

Soon, the people who crowded to the port building found that they could not hold so many people, so they flocked to the ships on the shore.

The lighthouse on the reef lights up again, and a mile at the end of the beam, it appears like a monster, against the thick fog rolling on the sea.

Langdon held the oil lamp and stared at the sea in a daze. The crowd ran past him, standing like a reef in a torrential rain, his mouth moved slightly, counting the time when the strange fog reached the shore.

When the strange fog left the port for less than half a minute, the crowd on the port was finally completely evacuated, and only a few figures were still not hiding in the port.

Looking back, Langdon walked quickly to the middle-aged passenger who was dragging heavy luggage not far away, and pulled him away from the luggage: "Forget about the cargo! They won't eat your luggage!"

Pushing the middle-aged passenger to the wooden hut behind him, Langdon suddenly looked at the ship that had been alerted and infected with the disease.

Several figures with beak masks walked out of the cabin. Behind them, a thick fog rolled in.

"This way! Run! Run over here!"

Langdon yelled at them, and the beak-masked figures looked back at the approaching weird fog and ran towards Langdon.

Langdon backed up to the door of the log cabin, and when all his colleagues passed by and rushed into the cabin, he finally looked at the port.

The docked ships were swallowed by the pervasive fog, revealing icy, huge, terrifying silhouettes.

In the thick fog, some silhouettes that did not exist before faintly appeared——

A palm suddenly grabbed Langdon's arm from behind, pulling the stunned Langdon closer to the wooden house.

  !

  The wooden door slammed shut.

Twenty or thirty figures huddled in the small wooden house, and the sound of suppressed gasping sounded everywhere. Crowded in workers' huts, they looked like big canned meat.

The door latch was hung by the bird's beak mask figure, and he stepped back, and suddenly, the window was shrouded in thick fog.

Five or six oil lamps glowing like lamps with unstable power, flickering uncomfortably dimly.

There were several suppressed exclamations in the wooden house.

Langdon handed the oil lamp to his colleague, pulled up the curtains to cover the outside world with a "clatter", and retreated from the door.

The    oil lamp became dim, and the strange fog from the outside seemed to penetrate into the wooden house through the gap between the wooden boards, like a veil in front of the eyes.

  Wowla-wowla-

In the port shrouded in dense fog, the strange sound of dragging chains echoed in the open air.

There is something oil lamp outside.

   "Good Father please bless..."

The sound of low prayers sounded in the wooden house, which infected many uneasy passengers and crew. They followed the whispers and gathered in the small and crowded wooden house to suppress the strange noise outside the wooden house.

Langdon instinctively felt that something was wrong, and was about to speak out to stop the prayers——

  …

   "Astran" ocean liner.

   Below deck, third class cabin.

"Mom, that house is not lit." The little girl pointed to a wooden house on the port that suddenly darkened, turned her head and said to her mother.

   "Shh..."

The woman was startled, and quickly carried the little girl away from the porthole, and then a passenger raised the table to block the window.

Only two oil lamps remained in the cabin, glowing dimly.

  …

   Black Gold Street.

A drunk man who ignored the ban and warning collapsed on the side of the road.

When the thick fog came, the uneasiness in the soul made the drunk man open his eyes slightly.

Mist surrounded him, and a figure stood in front of him.

The drunk raised his hand and grabbed the figure's trouser legs.

   "Hey...you...what time is it..."

The drunken man's voice suddenly disappeared, and only the sound of chewing was left in the dead silence.

  …

Aerial view, where the eerie fog rushing towards the top of the mountain passes, everything becomes lifeless and dull.

Occasionally there are houses in complete darkness, and occasionally screams pierce the night sky, but they are all covered by the deadly silent fog as the thick fog advances.
