Chapter 7: 7. The Night Watch

Chapter 7 Seven. The Night Watch

Rodster Harbour, one of the most famous harbours on the Allen Peninsula.

The steam-powered battleship Azazel, built and launched here, was once regarded as the backbone of human civilization—while the backbone of humanity was unbroken.

While the ocean voyage brought disaster to the whole world, it also made this battleship disappear so far, and never returned to the embrace of human civilization from the deep sea.

Humans have stopped exploring the sea since then, and their activities are limited to a sea area in front of their homes. Once there was a lot of people, the grand occasion of fishing boats all over the coastal waters can only be glimpsed from books.

Despite the demise of the entire maritime industry, the Port of Rodster is still one of the major ports on the Allen Peninsula.

The coastline stretches into a crescent-shaped bay, in which the Port of Rodster is located.

Belfast is built on a low mountain, and the streets and houses are divided into layers like steps, stretching from the top of the mountain to the mountainside, and from the mountainside to the foot of the mountain.

Throat Point, Belfast's closest street to the coast.

Lu Li stood in front of the guardrail and took off his hat.

The sea breeze blows with the wind, with a faint smell of the sea and the loud noise blown by the wind.

Lu Li came at just the right time.

The fishing boat named Rhodes is easily recognizable. It is docked at the edge of the port, and the surrounding fishing boats hide from other areas like a plague.

In front of the guardrail, there were a lot of people watching the fun like Lu Li, and some curious children were carried home by their terrified mothers.

Some police officers who came to maintain order at the port, but they obviously didn't know how to deal with this kind of thing. They could only disperse the idle people on the port and keep the crew of the Rhodes from moving around.

The noisy sound from the sea breeze could not be recognized, and the pea-sized figure could not see their current situation clearly. Lu Li could only focus his eyes on the Rhodes ship docked in the port.

The Rhodes is a three-masted sailing ship, about fifty meters in length. After the disaster, it is a fishing boat for offshore fishing. This medium-sized, non-powered vessel was already unsuitable for the deep sea, and the unstable and slow speed meant it was doomed to find it difficult to get back before dark.

And when night falls, the dangers in the ocean are far more terrifying than on land—even if there is light, it will not help.

The appearance of the Rhodes ship is not damaged, and there is no part that is different from other hulls. While Lu Li continued to watch, he heard neither a low murmur nor a strange vision.

   Business as usual.

The more and more residents gathered by the seaside, although many people are afraid of these, there are still many people who are curious about these, such as young people who are not afraid of the sky.

Amid the hustle and bustle, there was a commotion from the other side of the street.

Two steam cars drove into the throat block, and the crowd avoided the middle and drove to the wooden bridge leading to the port.

In the eyes of the public, steam cars stopped in front of the port one after another, several doors opened, and black boots stepped out of the doors.

These guys are capable and mysterious, wearing uniform black uniforms, and the armband is a fully open eye. As soon as he saw them, Lu Li would inevitably associate these people with the "night watchman" in Hades' mouth.

After they got off the car and walked towards the port, one of the figures stood still, suddenly turned around, and looked around the crowd in the throat street.

Those eyes looked at the crowd with scrutiny, paused slightly on Lu Li, then withdrew his gaze and turned to follow in the footsteps of his colleagues.

"Are those police idiots who are so close to the boat!" Matthew walked at the front, his pace was fast, and he wished to rush over and kick away these colleagues who were looking for death.

"They are ordinary people, they don't know it's normal." Joel turned his head and shouted to the lonely figure behind him: "Boss, you're walking too slowly!"

"It's not too short of a few steps." Pulis slowly followed the team and gave an order: "Squad one gets on the boat, and the second team goes to evacuate the workers with the police, keep them away from the crew and the ship, and then support the small team."

"clear."

The answer was uneven, and the seven team members spread out.

Price stood still and waited quietly for his subordinates to bring results.

A few minutes later, Matthew stuck her head out of the deck of the Rhodes, her ponytail hung down, and waved down and shouted, "Boss! Contamination found! This ship is indeed in trouble."

Price looked up: "Do you know which department it is?"

"Several crew members said that when the fishing boat was sailing, a cloud of fog blew over the sea, and then they encountered those things."

"Mist..." Pulis whispered and nodded, "Understood. Bring all the crew back for quarantine observation, drag the thing and the Rhodes to the sea burial and sink. Watch those who work, don't Let them put whatever they want in their pockets."

"Understood! We won't make the same mistake twice!" Matthew responded with a laugh.

Price did not laugh, there was always a faint worry in his heart.

He thought of something and called to the boat: "You go and ask the crew where they encountered the fog."

The time is now ten o'clock in the morning. It is impossible for the ship Rhodes to spend the night in the deep sea, which means that it can only set sail at dawn in the morning... It is only five hours before dawn.

5 hours, how far can they travel including the return trip?

Matthew clearly realized this, his face turned pale, and his head disappeared from the edge of the deck. After dozens of seconds, Matthew's shouting sounded, and then came the head sticking out from the edge of the deck.

"They said it was 35 nautical miles from the port!" Matthew looked ugly. Her necklace slid out of her dress and shook in mid-air. "Damn it, it's getting closer and closer to the coastline!"

35 nautical miles, almost on the edge of the sea, very close to the door.

Price was silent for a while, and replied, "Go and call Joel over."

"Oh!"

Matthew responded and retracted his head. It didn't take long for Joel's figure to appear on the edge of the deck.

   "Where's Matthew?" Price frowned.

"He called me over and went to search for pollutants."

"Ah..." Pulis sighed indistinctly, rubbed his forehead and said, "Go and call Matthew over, and you will come too."

"understood."

Unlike Matthew's frizz, Joel is much more rational. He nodded and walked away, and a moment later, Matthew's crisp voice sounded on the deck.

   "What else is there, boss!"

"Other ships are fine, this encounter may just be accidental. But just in case, Joel, you stay here next. Matthew, you and me go back to the police station to find the chief."

When Matthew ran down, the two of Price left the harbor and walked towards the steam car parked in front of the harbor.

The crowd on Throat Corner Street hadn't dispersed. For some reason, a pair of extremely calm black eyes appeared in Pulis' mind, and he subconsciously looked at a certain area behind the guardrail.

Indistinctly, a slender figure with a top hat disappeared from the crowd.

"Boss, what's wrong?" Matthew asked strangely.

Price withdrew his gaze and shook his head slightly.

"Nothing, just seeing a raw face."
