Broad World

Chapter 167 The Hubbell Family

It didn't take long for the group to see a high arched bridge. Although the stream they crossed was not spectacular, it was obvious that there was nothing supporting it. The narrow bridge deck was completely undecorated, not even railings. The stream flows up the hill, and then disappears just before reaching the top of the hill, although everyone can hear the sound of water flowing in front of them. But the stream reappeared over the top of the hill, and went down the other side.

Henry immediately became interested when he saw this phenomenon. If he guessed correctly, this is likely to be a special position. "Can you tell me what's going on here? I'm curious about this strange phenomenon."

"Haha, every visiting mage will ask the same question." Harkle replied excitedly, obviously he was very happy that Henry could ask such a question. "Everything that enters this river will show some kind of invisible nature, of course not all of them. You can see that the river water and fish look normal. This special position violates the law of invisibility, and it is very likely to open a crack leading to another world."

Hearing Harkle's explanation, Henry frowned. It was obvious that the Hubbell family didn't know the specific function of this river, and it might be the product of another whimsy. He is very disgusted with such uncertain things. After all, mages should firmly control magic in their hands, and then let them run according to their own will.

He has always despised spellcasters like the Frenzied Mage, who depended on luck all day long. Because these guys might not only kill themselves, but even their teammates would be implicated for no reason. Moreover, their premature death rate is frighteningly high. Basically, a failure to cast a spell is enough to cause a disaster. Most frantic mages cannot live for too long.

While Henry was thinking wildly, Harkle finally finished his long speech. He casually wiped the spittle from the corner of his mouth with his sleeve, and then led a group of people towards the bottom of the bridge. As soon as he was about to enter the water, Vaughn shouted loudly from behind: "Hey! Are you going to swim with us? Why don't you take the bridge?"

"That's the way to go back. Well, don't worry about such trivial matters. You just need to follow closely." As he said that, Harkle stepped on the river with one foot, and the power of magic instantly sent him to the top of his head. The guy was walking upside down on the back of the bridge and seemed to have no discomfort at all.

Zuwosa sighed and said to Henry: "Do you really want to keep up? I feel terrible now, and I am more tired than fighting a battle."

"Boss, the mages here are too weird. I remember that your mage tower doesn't seem to have so many weird things." The half-orc warrior also took the opportunity to interject.

Henry comforted and patted Ares who was trembling in his arms. With the intelligence of this brown bear, he might not be able to understand what he saw in front of him. "Let's go, it's just a back bridge. Maybe it will be normal when we get to the residence. Remember, this is the Harbell family. They have been influenced by magic from birth to adulthood. Don't make a fuss about things that are against common sense, because this place itself was built with magic." He took a step forward and stood on the back of the bridge in an instant.

Vaughan and Zuwosa glanced at each other, then they shook their heads with wry smiles, closed their eyes and took a step. The two hit the underside of the bridge with a slam, and stood there for a while, unable to tell the direction at all. They took a few steps forward cautiously, and after realizing that they would not fall, they hurriedly caught up with Harkle in front.

A group of people came to the 'Fluffy Staff' tavern behind the Ivy Pavilion. It's a circular room with a bar in the center like the axle of a wheel, and an enclosed kitchen area. A man with thick arms and a little bald head kept wiping the shiny table top of the bar with a rag, and he did it very carefully and carefully.

On a stage built in the back, the instruments played automatically, they were guided by the rapid whirling of a dark-haired wizard in black trousers, black waistcoat and baton. Whenever the instrument was about to play a crescendo, the wizard would point high with his baton and make a sound with the fingers of his free hand, and colored sparks would burst from the four corners of the stage.

Henry couldn't help smiling when he saw this, these mages of the Harbell family really enjoy life. Harkle led them to find a table where they could see other people coming in, because the tavern was enchanted, and each customer could not see each other, and they were the only guests here.

The table was round, and made of fine wood, and in the center of the table was set a huge faceted emerald on a silver base. Vaughn opened his mouth wide, knowing that such a gem is enough for an ordinary civilian to live a life without worrying about food and clothing.

Harkle ignored the surprise of the two orcs and muttered to the bartender for a while. Then he came to the table and said, "I've already arranged accommodation for you. If you need anything, just tell the person at the bar. Now I'm going to make arrangements. After all, exchanging knowledge is a very serious matter, and I need to seek the opinions of other family members."

Henry nodded with a smile on his face. "Thank you very much for your hospitality. Here is a list that can be exchanged. If you have no objection, you can notify me at any time." As he spoke, he took out a piece of parchment, which was filled with dense catalogs.

Harkle just glanced briefly at first, but his expression became more serious as he looked down. Nearly one-third of the things here have never been heard of before. For a mage who pursues knowledge, it is simply an irresistible temptation.

He carefully rolled up the parchment and said, "Please don't worry, I will definitely deal with this matter as soon as possible, and it will not take more than a day at most." After speaking, he hurriedly left the "Fluffy Staff" tavern.

"Boss, there isn't even a maid here, do you want us to go to the bar to serve the food?" The half-orc warrior asked, rubbing his stomach.

The emerald in the center suddenly flashed a light, and then there was a sound. "If you want something, just tell me," said a voice from the center of the table.

Vaughn and Zuwosa startled, and Henry pointed to an identical device on the bar. "Don't be nervous, this is a short-distance teleportation circle." The bartender smiled and waved after seeing their gazes.

"Quarter grilled lamb chops, a vegetable soup, two pieces of bread, and a glass of grape juice at the end." Seeing that the other two were still a little dazed, Henry demonstrated for them.

A floating tray glowing blue was teleported to the table, filled with the food just ordered. Henry handed the three-part lamb chop to Ares, then picked up the knife and fork and started eating. The two half-orcs also imitated his pie, ordered some meat and wine and began to eat.

Soon, the number of people in the Huber family began to increase slowly. After gaining Henry's consent, they put the table together and exchanged recent stories while eating food. These people were quickly attracted by the orc's destruction of the city in Sundaba. When the whole story was finished, the crowd burst into applause.

It was getting late, and Henry and his party followed the bartender's guidance to the resting place. After eating and drinking, they soon fell asleep, and even the loud music not far away had no effect.

Early the next morning, all three of them were woken up by Harkle. He excitedly took Henry's hand and said: "Now that everyone has agreed to exchange knowledge, hurry up and take out the first things on the list. Damn, they kept me awake last night."

"Don't worry about my friend, you have to let me clean up my personal hygiene first, and then have some breakfast." Henry started to get dressed in a calm manner. He just wanted to hang the appetite of these guys. Only in this way can he strive for the greatest benefit for himself.

Harkle turned around in a hurry, patting his forehead with his hands constantly. "My God! You still have the heart to eat breakfast! I didn't even eat dinner yesterday. Knowledge! Knowledge is the most important thing!"

Seeing that the teaser was almost done, Henry washed his face casually and followed him out of the gate. "Remember, you owe me a good breakfast, and you must make up for it later, otherwise my memory will decline."

"Of course no problem! You can exchange while eating. I'll inform the kitchen to prepare a roasted whole cow for you!" After speaking, Hakoo walked quickly, as if his speed was affected by the "acceleration technique".

Soon the two came to a hexagonal hall, which was full of members of the Harbell family. One of the old men came out and shook Henry's hand. "Let's start the exchange now. You only need to take out the beginning of the knowledge, and then we will evaluate it. After all the items on the catalog have been estimated, you can go to our secret library to select any material that does not exceed the total value. After the selection is completed, complete the rest."

Henry felt good when he heard this exchange method. After all, what he was going to exchange was not too important knowledge. He took out a large stack of parchments from the dimension bag, and began to read one by one. Here are some of his notes on searching for dark elf archmages, and some of them are some common scientific knowledge on the earth.

The members of the Huber family listened with gusto at first, but Henry stopped after only reading a quarter of it each time. This made many mages frown and start to think about the next part. When all the papers were read, he sat down and waited quietly for the valuation of these people. The buzzing sound in the hall was endless, except for a few older mages who were discussing the value, the other guys were arguing about the content behind. (To be continued.)
