Chapter 323 Finally started planning chips (2)

Okay, Wang Xu realized that the filter circuit can still be used here. By the way, there is also single crystal copper, which can also reduce clutter.

Okay, let's go back and ask if it is already in use. The lithography machines of this era are far less complicated than those of later generations, and the price of a single machine is not that expensive.

China can even produce photolithography machines and etching machines that are suitable for use, but the stability is poor and the yield rate cannot increase, requiring continuous investment in various improvements and running-in.

And this kind of improvement requires finding and solving problems in the continuous production process. You see, we are back to that circle again.

However, in general, China's photolithography machines and etching machines are not the shortest pieces of wood in this era. On the contrary, if compared with the world's advanced level, the gap is even smaller than that of later generations.

At this time, what really limits China Semiconductor is the production and manufacturing of monocrystalline silicon. Currently, six-inch monocrystalline silicon rods are generally used internationally. In two years, they will be eight inches, while domestic ones are four inches, and the purity is still high. Not high. This is the biggest obstacle limiting domestic chip production.

It was not until the 21st century that six-inch wafer production lines were introduced in China, which was more than ten years behind the times. By that time, 12-inch wafers had already been used internationally.

However, Wang Xu did not tinker with a growth method for single crystal processing. Although it is still a laboratory equipment, the system is produced, and there should be no problem in general industrialization. I just don’t know the effect and cost of using it to process single crystal silicon.

In Wang Xu's memory, traditional monocrystalline silicon seems to require manufacturing monocrystalline silicon rods first, then slicing them into very thin monocrystalline silicon wafers, and then entering the chip processing process.

The production cost of wafers produced in this way is lower, but the disadvantage is that cutting, pickling, grinding, positioning, etc. are required to form a wafer about 0.7 mm thick.

In fact, most of these 0.7 mm wafers do not actually form the PN junction required for semiconductors. Instead, they need to go through a doping process and dope a thin layer on the surface with the corresponding special material. Form a usable diode.

To put it simply, the bottom part of the wafer is actually useless, only the top few microns are useful. What remains is the base material, which can be regarded as an insulator, and together with the package forms the strong structure of the chip.

But the set of things I made are directly generated single-crystal silicon wafers, and there are no restrictions on shape or thickness. In other words, whatever shape you use for the base material underneath will be the shape of the crystal growth, and generally The thickness is very thin.

Rather than calling it a silicon wafer, it is better to call it a silicon film. This seems to be incompatible with the existing processing technology using wafers when performing the next step.

In the past, blue light was all done in laboratories, so it did not involve industrial production. The gallium nitride films used at that time were not very big, so this could only solve the problem, but not the problem of industrial production.

But this equipment also has its own characteristics, that is, it can stably form a very thin single crystal film. Does that mean that through a special process, a circuit can be generated directly on this film, bypassing the single crystal silicon wafer? way.

Moreover, the circuit generated in this way seems to be transparent.

The more Wang Xu thinks about it, the more his balls ache. Isn't this an entertainment novel? How come it has suddenly turned into science fiction? Thinking about transparent integrated circuits, it makes me laugh.

Forget it, forget it, Wang Xu is not an expert in this area, and the more he thinks about it, the more headaches he gets, so he simply rides a motorcycle to the electronics department, where he can find experts in this area, and let them have the headache.

This is not a small project. It is equivalent to abandoning the existing chip processing system and opening up another path. The difficulties and twists and turns can be imagined.

Wang Xu didn't even know whether his fantastic idea was feasible. He could only make three shots if there were dates or not.

Of course, there will definitely be no shortage of papers produced during this process. As long as you are willing to invest money, I believe the electronics department will be happy to take on this topic.

Hehe, isn't this another good place to find money? As for Wang Xu, well, just invest money and shout "Come on."

Or wait until the next time you buy a digital product from the system and see if you can provide some help.

In fact, this is Wang Xu's plan to walk on two legs. Just like what he thought when he first crossed over, the country has actually done quite well without him. He is more of an icing on the cake, and he can live his own small life by the way. .

At a high-tech seminar some time ago, the country identified microelectronics integrated circuits as a key industry for development. Of course, it has always been the case. Since the 1980s, there has been a lot of investment in scientific research in this area. It is not as imagined by later generations. Totally free range that way.

However, China is too blocked in this regard. Not only equipment and materials, but also various materials are strictly restricted. Most of the core technologies are in enterprises, not universities. You can't solve this problem just by studying abroad. The experience is short of experience.

Many people who have been engaged in research in this area in later generations have worked in overseas chip companies for a period of time, not only in China, but also in Bayan.

Most of the engineers who are the backbone of Wanwan Semiconductor in later generations have experience working in overseas chip companies, and most of them have reached the level of senior technicians. If you look at their passports, there are actually not many real Wanwan people.

This kind of shortcoming cannot be solved overnight. Although the little money the country spent is just a drop in the bucket, it has finally saved China's last bit of vitality in the chip industry and will not completely die without a burial place.

Until 2006, before the "Hanxin" incident broke out, the country's investment in chips was really considered to be a full-scale effort, and there were still some results.

The etching machine that later broke the blockade was the foundation laid in this era.

Later, the Institute of Optoelectronics, which developed photolithography machines, was established in 2003, and it was only 20 years later that a 23-nanometer photolithography machine was developed.

However, in the almost ten years since the Hanxin incident, the whole country, from the government to the private sector, has turned a blind eye to the topic of Hanxin and has not dared to invest in related research.

Even the famous "Loongson" in later generations has been implicated a lot, slowing down the pace of research and development.

The Loongson team took only one year from the launch of Loongson 1 in 2002 to Loongson 2 in 2003.

After that, there was a small version for almost half a year, and it was continuously iterated. In three years, it went from 2A to 2F. After that, 2E was released before the Hanxin incident broke out in 2006.

After that, the team slowed down and only produced two versions, 2G and 2H, in more than ten years. Loongson 3 was not officially released until 2019, and at this time, seven years have passed since the launch of 2H.

Just looking at their cautious energy, you can tell how much sadness there is. This is one of the indirect consequences of the "Hanxin" incident. No one should have any objection to saying that the person in charge is a sinner in Chinese history.

However, later, the U.S. State's total blockade once again woke up China, and it began to invest heavily again, with many results.

Since the country has a plan and invests real money in the semiconductor field, Wang Xu will naturally not cause trouble casually, but it is definitely a good thing to open up another possible path for himself.

As he said himself, someone has to look up at the stars, so let him be the monkey looking up at the stars.
