Chapter 36 Welcome to the A-League

After loaning Frank Lampard, George announced the closure of the transfer market.

Burnley has also made a lot of moves this year. After dealing with many old players last year, George bought a total of eight players. This year, George also dealt with seven players, bought five players, and loaned one player.

Last year, George dealt with a large number of main players, which made many people worry about the future of Burnley. But the players George bought performed very well, and the best one was of course Karel Poborsky. Poborsky was not only the top scorer of the English League Two last season, but also the best assist player of the English League Two.

Therefore, Burnley last season took the lead in the League Two and became the champion of the League Two without any suspense. It also got a list of upgrades.

Unexpectedly, Manchester United poached Burnley's biggest player just after being promoted to the First Division. After Karel Poborsky transferred to Manchester United for four million pounds, I don't know how many Burnley fans began to curse Manchester United.

Of course, apart from Boborski, Darren Huckabee is the only main player who left Burnley this year. However, Darren Huckabee's goal in the second division is not that many. After George bought Kevin Phillips, everyone settled down. In their opinion, Kevin Phillips, who scored more than ten goals in the first division, is much better than Darren Huckabee.

And only Ljungberg was bought in the position of Boborski, which made many Burnley fans worried.

This worry made George very funny. If possible, George would rather sell Boborski than Darren Huckabee. Ljungberg is fully capable of replacing Boborski, but Kevin Phillips and Darren Huckabee are completely different types of forwards.

Darren Huckabee is very fast and can hit almost all positions in the frontcourt. But Kevin Phillips is a pure shooter and an opportunistic shooter. George would be very happy if there was a versatile player like Darren Huckabee in the frontcourt. Unfortunately, Burnley is not at the same level as Coventry in terms of attractiveness and competitiveness.

However, with the closure of the transfer market, the list of Burnley's first team has been released.

Goalkeeper: No. 1 Miller (33 years old, English), No. 22 Billy Filigues (34 years old, English), No. 27 Martin Mims (21 years old, English).

Defender: No. 2 Grant (32 years old, English), No. 5 Mitchell King (33 years old, English), No. 4 Gary Breen (22 years old, Irish), No. 3 Daniel Morrison (18 years old, English), No. 17 David Ward (25 years old, English), No. 24 Aman Donaldson (26 years old, English), No. 28 Steve Finnan (20 years old, Irish), No. 33 Matthew Upson (17 years old, English).

Midfielder: No. 7 Frederik Ljungberg (19 years old, Swedish), No. 8 Danny Murphy (19 years old, English), No. 6 Ian Coyd (28 years old, English), No. 11 Ashley Chapman (19 years old, English), No. 13 Michael Ballack (20 years old, German), No. 19 Neil Lennon (25 years old, Irish), No. 23 Frank Lampard (18 years old, English), No. 42 Solkamp (31 years old, English).

Forward: No. 12 Kevin Phillips (23 years old, English), Brodie (27 years old, English), No. 15 Klose (18 years old, German), No. 33 David McGurk (30 years old, Irish).

The above is the final list of Burnley for the new season. Everyone's eyes are actually focused on Frederik Ljungberg. In fact, there are many people who can play right midfielder in Burnley. Danny Murphy, Ashley Chapman and Solkamp are all capable of playing this position.

But George gave the number left by Boborski to the 19-year-old Swedish player. And Yongberg is also the player with the highest transfer fee since George took over Burnley. Of course, he is also the player with the highest transfer fee in Burnley's history, costing Burnley 800,000 pounds.

However, Yongberg and Boborski are indeed somewhat different. Boborski also spent the highest transfer fee of Burnley when he transferred. But Boborski is introverted and was able to integrate into the team quickly after arriving at Burnley.

But after Yongberg came to Burnley, he was a little arrogant and unsociable. He always thought he was better, which gave George a headache.

However, Yongberg's strength was unanimously recognized by the players, including the coaching staff, who believed that Yongberg's strength was very good. Not inferior to Boborski who left.

The closure of the transfer door gave George and Evan Sawyer more time to study Burnley's tactical training in the new season.

Although Mitchell King is old, he still has the physical and technical skills to play in the first division. In the new season, George will continue to use Mitchell King and Gary Breen as the central defender combination for the new season. Grant on the right is a bit old. George will gradually replace the aging Grant with Steve Finnan this season.

With the addition of Lampard, George will have to make great changes to the midfield. George's thinking has always been very clear, and he will talk about offense after doing a good job of defense. Therefore, in the second division, George used Neil Lennon and Danny Murphy as defensive midfielders, and Ballack was an offensive midfielder most of the time.

But this time George asked Neil Lennon to be a defensive midfielder in the backcourt, and Ballack also retreated to become a defensive midfielder. Not only is it necessary to defend, but the most important thing is to control the rhythm of the team. George knows that this will weaken Ballack's goal-scoring ability, but for the sake of the team as a whole, George can only sacrifice Ballack.

Lampard will be on the left, but his position is not fixed. Lampard will cover all positions in the frontcourt, because Lampard's excellent running ability is what George needs most. Ljungberg will be inserted like a sharp knife.

George attaches great importance to the midfield, whether it is offensive or defensive midfield is a must-fight. Therefore, George wants Neil Lennon to be a full-time defensive midfielder, and will also let Ballack sacrifice his offensive ability and retreat to control the rhythm of the entire team.

George has full trust in Ballack, and believes that even if he controls the game, Ballack will definitely be able to do it very well.

George's first choice for the forward line is Richard Brodie and Kevin Phillips.

…………

Before the game, Burnley played several warm-up matches. There were wins and losses, and George didn't care much about the results. What George cares most about is the process of the game.

Overall, Burnley's performance is still good, especially Ballack, who retreated to a backward position, showed a strong control, which made George ecstatic.

Of course, there are many problems, especially Ljungberg on the right. Ljungberg is very strong and has amazing breakthrough ability. But he always fights alone and doesn't like to cooperate with others. It gives George a headache.

Fortunately, during this period, George was busy with the team's running-in, and there were more important things.
