Colonial Suit
#1000 - Get and Give
The human envoy's suggestion was clear, but Molka still needed time to think. Although he had developed an initial trust in the human envoy through previous conversations, this was a choice that concerned the survival of his race, and no amount of caution was excessive. Moreover, the Botok tribe was now greatly weakened and teetering on the brink.
Having been tempted by the grand promise painted by Boka Clan's First Prince Xie, Molka had already made one failed choice. That choice had led to the current predicament. Could he make a second one?
Molka didn't know.
But he felt that perhaps he could give it a try. At the very least, this human before him was truly candid, so candid that he even told him not to trust him. And how could someone who could say such a thing lack sincerity? (Writing this, Little Knife sighed softly, 'Poor child. He probably will never understand the complexity of humans in his simple heart.')
"I will consider your suggestion. This will take time."
"There is ample time before this civil war ends," the human envoy said respectfully. But the implication was that there would be no time after the civil war ended.
Molka understood his meaning. In fact, at this point, First Prince Xie's intentions were already clear. However, most civilizations were immersed in the beautiful picture he had painted, neglecting the darkness beneath the beauty. The Botok tribe had understood this through a heavy price, but their understanding had come too late.
No one would refrain from attacking a race with greatly diminished strength. Given the Botok tribe's current situation, even if Xie didn't act, other races would. Beneath the seemingly strict rules of the Second World, it was still a blatant case of the survival of the fittest. Thinking of this, Molka's branches suddenly swayed wildly, trembling incessantly!
Because he suddenly realized that, unknowingly, he had become the 'big cake' in Xie's words!
Xie hadn't lied to them. He had indeed prepared a wonderful future, but… the beneficiaries of this future were not them.
After the human envoy left, Molka spent seven days gathering information. He then spent seven days thinking. By the third set of seven days, he finally made up his mind.
An ancient piece of bark was delivered to the human envoy by a slender tree spirit. It carried a bloody aura. It was Molka's aura. This piece of bark had just been stripped from his body.
This was a cruel universe. Molka never believed that anything could be gained without effort. And at this time of the Botok tribe's demise, he didn't want even the slightest wavering. Now that he had decided, he would pay the price for this decision! This price had once been offered to the Boka Clan. But now, it was offered to the humans, and it was even greater.
Alliance!
A resolute pact.
Using a part of all living beings of the Botok tribe as the carrier of the pact, leaving an ancient imprint on their fate. From then on, the Botok tribe must act according to the pact, or they would be abandoned by fate. This piece of bark certainly wouldn't carry a part of all living beings of the Botok tribe, but it was stripped from Molka's body, so it had the same effect!
Because the entire Botok tribe was the embodiment of the Botok Ancient Tree… and Molka was the rebirth of the Botok Ancient Tree.
One person is one race, not a myth, nor a fantasy.
Looking at this piece of bark, the human envoy seemed to understand its importance. He solemnly bowed and accepted it… and presented the agreement that the Speaker had already prepared.
At this point, apart from the lack of formalities, the humans had actually reached an alliance agreement with the Botok tribe, one that was so profound that they would share life and death. 'Share' meant sharing life and death together, and 'death' meant sharing life and facing death together. (Don't overthink it. Little Knife didn't make a mistake, you didn't read it wrong.)
In this agreement, the humans occupied an absolute dominant position, and could even be regarded as the suzerain of the Botok tribe.
This was Molka's decision! If he was going to rely on them, he had to show sincerity. Double-dealing would not lead to good results. Wasn't the previous alliance with the Boka Clan also an alliance? But what was the result?
So he had to pay more, and that part was called loyalty. Just like the Fallen Angels and the Clodiles in the ancient Great Chaos era! Entrusting each other with life and death!
The human envoy had obviously thought of this, which was why the handover was so straightforward. Rituals were not important, what was important was to get the benefits first. That was the Speaker's style. Can etiquette be eaten?
However, Molka was not stupid, so in a later meeting, he raised another question. If he allied with the humans, what would the humans use to protect the Botok, or rather, their own achievements?
The human envoy's words were also very candid, so candid that they were heartbreaking. "I am just the most incompetent envoy sent by the humans, and there are many such envoys at this moment."
"How many is 'many'?" Molka was still somewhat unwilling to give up.
"Ninety-seven," the human envoy answered honestly, with a kind of honesty that could infuriate people. "We have sent envoys to every race that has withdrawn from the civil war."
"I…" Molka suddenly felt very depressed, because he now realized that while he was considering his race a rare commodity, the humans had already spread their nets far and wide, and he was just a small fish in the net. It was conceivable that when this civil war ended, the humans' power would inevitably advance by leaps and bounds, even expanding to a point where the Boka people would have to be wary.
Nothing else, only because of the humans' vision and skill.
This was a calculated plot! Just like Xie's approach, but more effective and faster.
Xie had spent a hundred years planning all this, but the humans were just standing in his shadow, easily completing it with his power. Although the effect was not as good as direct annexation, this kind of timely help was also a kind of power consolidation.
The wisdom and ability of humans were evident!
At this point, Molka would certainly no longer worry about the safety of his race. Even if half of the envoys sent by the humans this time failed, the remaining half would still converge into a powerful force. Coupled with the humans' loose alliance, they would form a behemoth with the covenant civilization as the backbone and the loose alliance as the branches! Even if First Prince Xie finally obtained the throne of the Boka Clan, how would he dare to touch it easily?
In this world, strength still speaks! It was a pity that Xie had painstakingly planned for many years, but in the end, he could only achieve two goals, and the fruits of victory were cut off by one-third. If Molka were him, he would be so angry that he would die.
However, what he didn't know was that the humans had also paid a huge price this time.
In a mothership in the distant void, the Speaker was silently looking at a corpse being slowly sent into the garden, his face grim.
The corpse was covered in wounds, half of it was already incomplete, but that rough face still wore an unyielding smile, and his hand was still tightly gripping a broken giant axe. Judging from his final posture, he had obviously fought fiercely to the death without retreating.
The strongest man in the Seven Halls of Breaking Light.
"Brute"… Bas!
Killed in battle!!
Died at the age of two hundred and thirty-one!! (To be continued…)
