#1005 - A promise made
In the dark void, the Titan princess's voice was firm and confident.
Sarq Jones, however, was somewhat dazed.
He finally understood why the fleet had lost control and why he had received no warning. The answer lay in the Titan princess before him, or rather, not the princess herself, but an ancient legend of the race she represented: the legend of the Primordial Titan.
It was said that the ancient Titans were not only the native race of the Second World but also the creatures with the longest lifespans in the universe. If not for disasters and battle damage, their theoretical lifespan was almost infinite. Therefore, throughout this race, one could find old monsters who were tens of thousands of years old. And the one with the longest lifespan was called the 'Primordial Titan.' How long was his lifespan? One could see it from a Titan custom: every ancient Titan firmly believed that they were a small stone separated from the Primordial Titan, and the Primordial Titan's life could be traced back to the origin of the universe.
Of course, Sarq Jones didn't believe such legends. If one could really trace back to the origin of the universe, wouldn't the Primordial Titan be even more divine than a god? But Sarq Jones was very wary of another legend about this being.
To be precise, it wasn't a legend but a battle record. It happened during the Great Chaos era when the flames of war spread to the ancient Titans' homeland. The ancient Titans suffered heavy losses, and many ancient 'living fossils' disappeared, eventually arousing the anger of this being. It was said that he simply opened his mouth and swallowed tens of thousands of invading warships and hundreds of cosmic powerhouses, leaving no trace behind.
This event was too absurd and was considered a rumor at the time. But Sarq Jones felt that if this rumor was true, then the terror of this ancient Titan and his current situation could be explained.
The legend was true. They had been swallowed and were inside the Primordial Titan's stomach. The reason for the spatial anomaly was that his stomach was a self-contained system, equivalent to a protected area with its own rules. And the reason he had received no warning was that this Primordial Titan was too powerful, and his thought-sense completely surpassed him…
This was not difficult. If the Primordial Titan was really as the Titan legends said, his long life would be enough to awe any powerhouse. What did a stronger thought-sense matter?
Thinking of this, Sarq Jones felt a deep sense of powerlessness. He said to the little loli in the void.
"Bass is dead."
"No one can take him away from me, not even Death!" the little loli shouted, her tone firm. "So tell Death to go to hell! My grandfather will let him know what the bond of life is!"
Grandfather!?
Hearing this sentence, what else could Sarq Jones say?
Sure enough, the Primordial Titan existed and was probably patting his stomach waiting for his reply. For such a long, endless life, ordinary things would no longer attract his attention. Even the battle for the universe was irrelevant to him. Only the request of the most important figure in the Titan race could possibly make him move.
And the little princess was precisely the person with such status.
But if he could swallow an entire fleet, how big was this Primordial Titan? Sarq Jones could hardly breathe. He knew that his current perception had reached the level of a black hole, but even so, he could only vaguely feel the edge. It was enough to show that the Primordial Titan's size had exceeded ordinary people's imagination. Not to mention ordinary planets, even stars and star fields were probably not enough for a corner of his body.
He was a monster that could devour the void!
Sarq Jones didn't want to be his enemy. But as a member of the council, he had to maintain the dignity of mankind. So he only hesitated for a moment before saying, "Whether Bass can be handed over to you is not something I can decide, nor is it something everyone here can decide. The only one who can decide is his Grand Sovereign. I have already sent someone to invite him."
"No need, I'm already here."
In the void, a thought-sense suddenly rippled, and then the Speaker's figure appeared before the fleet, face to face with the little princess. He was holding a fragmented corpse in his arms, and wasn't that Bass?
The Speaker's left eye was still tightly closed, and blood was dripping from the corner of his eye, but his right eye revealed a faint gleam, sizing up the little princess from top to bottom.
Strangely enough, the little princess, who was so sturdy that she could swing a club, became shy at this moment. She didn't say anything for a long time. After a long while, perhaps unable to endure the Speaker's gaze, or perhaps her temper flared up, she finally shouted.
"What's so good to look at? I'm older than you, are you looking at your granddaughter?"
Pfft!!
In the bridge, everyone who was paying attention to this scene spat out a mouthful of saliva, almost fainting.
What was sturdy? What was overbearing? Now they knew. And they finally understood why Bass had spent his whole life doing things like forcibly 'seducing' civilian girls, but the only person he truly connected with was this little loli. It turned out that fate really existed in this world.
The Speaker obviously didn't expect the little loli to suddenly flare up. His gaze suddenly froze, but after a while, he nodded and said to the little loli. "I know your relationship with Bass. But you're too late. Bass can no longer fulfill his promise to you."
"That's just your opinion," the little loli was still sturdy to the extreme. "But for me, as long as he's still here, even if it's just a fragment, he must return to my side. Even if he dies, he can only die in my arms."
"Promises are not for talking about, they are for doing!"
"I am his only woman, and I'm here to take him away!"
"No one can stop me!"
The crisp thought-sense echoed slowly in the void, and the little loli revealed her claws in an instant, showing extremely strong aggression. Especially the sentence 'I am his only woman' made the Speaker raise an eyebrow, and his eyes revealed a surprised look.
Of course, he knew that the little loli was not Bass's only woman, but the meaning of her saying this had another meaning.
I may not be your only one, but you must be my only one.
Having seen all aspects of human nature, the Speaker easily understood this, and his eyes gradually blurred. He let go, allowing the little loli to pick up Bass. Bass's burly body was so disproportionate and yet so harmonious compared to the little loli.
"Be good, I'll take you home."
The little loli lowered her head, silently looking at Bass's blood-stained face, her eyes filled with infinite tenderness. She clumsily wiped Bass's blood with her tender little hands, but she couldn't wipe it away no matter what.
"It doesn't hurt anymore…"
"When we get home, it won't hurt anymore…"
"Children who go home are loved. Children who go home are cared for."
"We can't go back on our promises, we pinky swore…"
The little loli said softly, completely ignoring the gazes of the people around her. Large tears fell, merging into Bass's blood, merging into Bass's skin, and even merging into Bass's soul…
What is love?
It's just a promise after a tear.
A moment of beauty is eternity. (To be continued…)
