Colonial Suit
#25 - Goodbye Pastor
The gunfire came from deep within the canyon. Blood瞳 knew from his time in the canyon that it was where high-level mutated beasts roamed. High-level mutated beasts were much more dangerous than ordinary ones, so Blood瞳 had never ventured deep.
But now there was gunfire. Blood瞳 was immediately curious and wanted to go see what was happening.
Extinguishing the campfire, Blood瞳 quickly packed the prepared food into a box, then jumped onto his motorcycle. With a twist of the throttle, the motorcycle shot off like an arrow.
The Sand Raider motorcycle had a lot of horsepower. Blood瞳 felt the scenery on both sides of the canyon flash by as he accelerated, while taking out a pair of mechanical goggles from the motorcycle. Instantly, his vision was filled with countless changing data. These goggles were one of the pieces of equipment he had just acquired from the Hunter Guild. Their full name was Short-Range Doppler Detector. They could collect information from the surrounding environment and quantify it, making them an excellent combat support tool. Through these goggles, Blood瞳 easily found the location of the gunfire.
"Five kilometers to the northeast. It's that far away." Blood瞳 was slightly surprised when he saw the data on the goggles.
To be able to hear clear gunfire from such a distance could only mean that the other party's firearms were very powerful, and of the original live-ammunition type. This deduction immediately brought to Blood瞳's mind a handsome, sunny priest.
Could it be him?
With the roar of the motorcycle, Blood瞳 quickly rounded a bend, and as the motorcycle made a beautiful drifting motion, an open space appeared in front of him. A pungent smell of blood assaulted his nostrils, causing Blood瞳 to frown.
He saw that the spacious open space was now filled with all kinds of mutated beast corpses, all of which were high-risk species that Blood瞳 had never seen before. Blood of various colors mixed together, flowing like a stream. In the pile of corpses that resembled a small hill, a familiar figure was confronting a giant mutated beast that he had never seen before.
The giant mutated beast was more than five meters tall, like a small two-story building. It resembled a Tyrannosaurus Rex from ancient times, but it was even more ferocious. Its body was covered with millstone-sized scales. Its two front claws were as sharp as blades. Each attack emitted a sharp whistle that tore through the air, and brought out three substantial cyan wind pressures. Wherever it passed, it not only cut the mutated beast corpses in its path into several pieces, but even left deep cracks in the surrounding stone walls.
However, the figure confronting it was not weak either. He swayed gracefully under the mutated Tyrannosaurus Rex's attacks, as if he were taking a leisurely stroll. Although his movements were not fast, he dodged the cyan wind pressure each time with perfect timing. In the midst of the fierce battle, his movements exuded an indescribable leisurely temperament, out of tune with the surrounding environment.
Just then, the man also turned his head and met Blood瞳's eyes.
"It's you?" the two said in unison.
This person was indeed the handsome priest he had seen at the bandage merchant's place. He still carried the impressive cross on his back. And he clearly remembered Blood瞳. After speaking, he immediately nodded to Blood瞳, while shifting his body to the side, just in time to dodge another cyan wind pressure.
In the midst of the fierce battle, the priest was not anxious or impatient. He even had the leisure to show Blood瞳 a polite smile. "Please wait a moment. It'll be over soon."
Before he finished speaking, a black revolver had already appeared in his right hand. It was the Broken Wing Butterfly.
"The Lord says, the time is near, do not seal up the words of the prophecy."
Three gunshots rang out, and three bullets accurately hit the mutated Tyrannosaurus Rex's throat in a triangular formation, instantly blasting a spiderweb-like crack in a millstone-sized scale. As the broken scales scattered, the priest unhurriedly dodged another cyan wind pressure. The Broken Wing Butterfly spun in his right hand, and then three more shots.
"The unrighteous will remain unrighteous, and the filthy will remain filthy."
This time, he connected the three bullets into a straight line, hitting the same spot again. He blasted a bloody hole in the Tyrannosaurus Rex's neck, and the mutated Tyrannosaurus Rex's roar came to an abrupt halt, as if someone had grabbed its throat.
At this moment, the priest raised an eyebrow. With a flick of his right hand, the Broken Wing Butterfly suddenly folded in the middle, and the cartridges in the cylinder clattered down. At the same time, an identical Broken Wing Butterfly appeared in his left hand. He raised the gun, aimed slightly...
"The righteous will remain righteous, and the holy will remain holy."
Six gunshots rang out, and the bullets in the Broken Wing Butterfly were emptied by the priest in one go. His left hand was lifted high by the Broken Wing Butterfly's huge recoil. But the six bullets accurately hit the same spot for the third time, like a scalpel. All of them drilled into the bloody hole. There was only a muffled sound. A ball of flesh suddenly bulged out of the Tyrannosaurus Rex's neck, and then burst open suddenly. Fresh red blood mixed with pieces of flesh splattered everywhere, and its neck was split into two pieces from the point of explosion. The huge head rolled away.
Then, its huge body swayed and fell to the ground, shaking the ground.
In the rising dust, the priest slowly walked towards Blood瞳, revealing a sunny smile.
"Hello, my name is Robbie."
"I am Blood瞳."
Night gradually descended on the canyon, and the campfire was burning again. The leaping flames brought warmth and dispelled the fatigue of the day for both of them.
"Pa-la." A spark jumped out of the campfire. Blood瞳 threw a piece of dry wood into the flames, then glanced at the priest not far away.
At this moment, the handsome priest was carefully wiping his gun, his expression peaceful, and he couldn't see that he had just experienced a fierce battle during the day. Nor could he see that he had personally killed a high-risk mutated beast that was enough to rank in the top ten in the Hunter Guild.
Dinner was roasted beast meat. Blood瞳 was not familiar with the meat quality of high-risk mutated beasts, so it was prepared by the priest. His fingers were very nimble, and he quickly obtained enough ingredients from the mutated beast's corpse. Then the two had a hearty meal. However, unlike Blood瞳's gluttonous appearance, the priest was methodical even when eating, with a unique temperament.
Looking at the jumping campfire, Blood瞳 lazily pulled out a metal flask from his side, took a sip, and threw it over. Then he said lightly.
"Robbie, what are you doing here?"
"A personal matter." The priest smiled and took the flask, taking a sip, and a look of satisfaction appeared on his face. "Rum made with Level 3 purified water. It's really lucky to be able to drink this stuff in this godforsaken place."
"If you like it, I'll give it to you. I have more." Blood瞳 waved his hand indifferently. His eyes were thoughtful. "Compared to your marksmanship, this is nothing."
"Oh, this is not a good thing. Firearms are the creations of demons, but I use them to spread the glory of the Lord." Robbie replied, word by word. "In fact, I both love and hate them."

"But you know how to use them better than anyone else." Blood瞳 twitched the corner of his mouth.
"Hehe, you're not bad either." Robbie smiled. "The new hunter that Tucker is talking about is you, right? Tucker Challenger, that's a good nickname."
"But it's still not as good as you." Blood瞳 sighed. He reached out and took his broken shotgun from the motorcycle next to him and fiddled with it a few times. With a slight fold, two bright bullets jumped out of the chamber and fell into his palm.
Robbie quietly watched Blood瞳's movements, a smile flashing in his eyes. There was no doubt that in his eyes, Blood瞳's movements were not even as good as a novice. From this movement, he knew that Blood瞳 didn't know how to use a gun at all. Watching Blood瞳 put the bullets back into the chamber one by one and clumsily make an aiming motion, he shook his head. "You don't have to be so solemn. Guns are tools, and shooting is just a process. What you want is actually just the result."
"But without the process, I can't see the result." Blood瞳 replied lightly. He was not Robbie, so naturally he could not have the other party's miraculous marksmanship.
But Robbie liked Blood瞳's personality a little. He watched Blood瞳 practice for a while with great interest. Suddenly, he asked, "You can't practice like this. If you want to use a gun well, you must involve abilities. What is your ability?"
"Ability?" Blood瞳 was surprised. He stopped his practice. "What is an ability?"
"You don't even know this?" Robbie laughed. "I'm really defeated by you. Okay, then I'll tell you."
"Ability is a special power hidden deep within the genes of every living being. In more ignorant low-level worlds, it is generally called superpowers or ESP. Because there is no proper guidance and development, it can only be mastered by a few people. But this does not mean that ability is the patent of a few people. In fact, everyone has ability, it just needs to be guided out."
"For example, gunmanship. The most common ability is mental unity, which allows the user to reach a state of single-mindedness in an instant. The accuracy is greatly improved. So if you want to use firearms well, it's not enough to just practice. Without ability, you will never reach the level of a mercenary, at most you can use it to bully ordinary people."
"Mercenary? Are you talking about a space mercenary?" Blood瞳 was stunned, a gleam of light flashing in his eyes.
"Yes." Robbie's smile faded slightly. "Every space mercenary is a user of ability. Some people also have unique, exclusive abilities. Only in this way can they survive in fierce battles."
"Are you also a space mercenary?"
"Me?" Robbie shook his head self-deprecatingly. "I'm far from it. I'm just a vassal. According to the rules of space mercenaries, a vassal who follows their master in battle for three years without dying has the qualifications to apply for a probationary mercenary. I just got this qualification now. Okay, let me see what your ability is. If you want to use firearms well, this is an indispensable step."
"You can discover my ability?" Blood瞳 asked suspiciously, but saw Robbie take out a delicate metal box from his backpack and aim it at himself.
What will my ability be?
