Colonial Suit

#726 - Primitive civilization

This person...

Xuetong frowned.

He recalled the information he had seen about the Barren Source. It was an ancient planet with a long history. Its lifespan was so long that it had existed almost since the discovery of the plane. Throughout its long history, this planet had seen the rise of civilizations more than once, each with varying degrees of development, but the strongest of these civilizations had almost reached the point of venturing into the starry sky.

One should know that for the current universe, being able to venture into the starry sky was equivalent to possessing the qualifications to enter the Sixth World. It was also equivalent to obtaining a ticket to the Universe Club.

Yet such a brilliant civilization was destroyed on the eve of stepping into the starry sky. The reason was not war, but a natural disaster.

A vast rain of meteorites, half a year of continuous earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and changes in the planet's trajectory. This civilization, along with its subordinate countries, was completely destroyed. In the end, not even a trace was left behind.

This was the record in the data.

However, Xuetong found it a bit strange, because even the weakest civilization should have some foundation. Just like Krodir, which was destroyed ten thousand years ago, it still left countless traces, and even today it has aroused the pursuit of cosmic civilizations. How could that vanished civilization have left no trace at all? All the technology, history, data, legends...

All vanished into the wind?

This was obviously not in line with reality.

With a slight movement in his heart, Xuetong observed carefully again, but saw that the corpse was wearing an ancient vine armor, and there were countless knife marks on it.

He nodded silently.

As expected... this place was not a barren land. There were people, there was civilization, there were knife marks, there were disputes. And judging from the corpse's attire, he was obviously not an ordinary person, but a samurai warrior. This class obviously possessed a certain status.

Don't underestimate this status, you should know that in the primitive civilization sequence, the birth of a noble meant a primitive, yet strict social hierarchy. It was proof of the initial specific system of civilization. And extrapolating from the corpse's wounds, a vast civilization with many cities had already come into view.

The death of this samurai may have been due to a vendetta, or perhaps, due to war...

If it was a vendetta, it wouldn't be anything. But if it was war...

This planet could definitely not be described as a Barren Source.

Xuetong thought silently. Then he stood up and cast his gaze into the distance. Before, he had only descended here with a playful mood, but seeing this corpse, he had a few more thoughts. No matter what, this planet was attracting him, maybe he could spend a little more time?

Thinking like this, he sat down in the shade of a tree on the edge of the oasis.

After a short rest, Xuetong set off again. He followed the traces left by the corpse.

This walk lasted for several days...

Of course, with Xuetong's current ability, it was not difficult to traverse the planet in an instant. But he didn't want to do that. This barren planet gave him a familiar feeling, just like X35 was nostalgic. The harsh environment, the heat and sand, everything. All made Xuetong feel extremely warm. Just like when he was still in X35.

Cold, cruel, fighting between life and death every day... death was just a normal end, but living. That was everything.

He liked this place, so he didn't mind spending a little more time.

Only Meiding suffered.

No matter how novel the scenery was, what was so special about seeing too much of it? From the moment Xuetong descended, he passed through nothing but yellow sand every day, and after a long time, Meiding felt tired. Although she was protected by mercenary equipment, she still hoped for a luxurious residence where she could rest well.

This day. Xuetong was walking on a sand dune again, feeling Meiding's frustration, he couldn't help but smile and ask.

"What's wrong, are you regretting it?"

"N... No way!!" Meiding was stunned at first, then answered, patting her chest. "A nurse... of course a nurse must put the guest first, if the guest doesn't say they're tired, how can the nurse be?"

"Let's... head towards the direction where the sun rises!!" Meiding pointed to the sky with one finger, made an extremely bold movement, and then strode forward.

But looking at her swaying back, it seemed like she could fall down at any time.

Xuetong couldn't help but be speechless...

And so, another day and night passed, and finally even Meiding, who was always full of confidence, couldn't hold on anymore. She said to Xuetong with a bitter face. "Why don't we go back? I think this damn place is absolutely impossible to have any people."

"If you want to, you can go back at any time." Xuetong turned his head and glanced at Meiding, smiling. "Should I summon the shuttle down?"

"You, aren't you going back with me?" Meiding asked curiously, widening her eyes.

"I'm not going back." Xuetong replied. His gaze turned to the distance again. "I always feel like there's something calling me ahead. I must find it."

"Then I'm not going back either." Meiding said stubbornly. She followed Xuetong's footsteps again.

The two climbed a huge sand dune together. It was strange to say, this sand dune was like a mountain range, it actually stretched for thousands of miles. The two had only just climbed halfway when they felt a vibration from underground. Vaguely, on the other side of the sand dune, there was a rumbling sound of shouts.

"This is?" Xuetong was slightly stunned, then grabbed Meiding and flew directly over the sand dune.

Looking down again, what appeared before his eyes was a magnificent scene of war.

On a vast desert, two groups of people were facing off. Each side had tens of thousands of people. They were using primitive weapons, arranged in neat formations. They were approaching each other bit by bit. In the formation, chariots pulled by four horses were galloping back and forth, shooting arrows to disrupt the opponent's formation.

Where was this a barren planet? It was clear that a new civilization had been born!! And judging from this situation, there was more than one.

In that instant, he had been discovered by the people below, and immediately two chariots rushed towards him. Arrows shot out from the chariots, clearly treating him as an enemy.

Xuetong smiled slightly, but he was not soft-hearted. He flicked his fingers lightly. Several invisible air bullets shot out from his fingers, immediately blasting the two chariots into pieces.

This could be considered as poking a hornet's nest. One should know that the battlefield was already at a stalemate, and Xuetong's appearance was so magical, how could both sides hold back? In the blink of an eye, they saw the formation below changing, and they had actually separated into two thousand-man teams, charging towards Xuetong.

The corners of Xuetong's mouth finally curled up, and a hint of bloodthirsty red light flashed in his eyes.

"The civilization here seems very unfriendly..."

He said this, his right hand reaching towards the sky... (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please go to read.)
