Chapter 81 Insights from Practicing: A Letter to Dad

Compared with the embarrassment of Qian Quan's magazine being discovered by his classmates, Qian Wenlin took the magazine to his office generously. When he found that his colleagues didn't notice, he specifically said:

"After the "New Story Monthly" is published, it will also mail sample copies. Have you received them before?"

The two colleagues who had also submitted successfully said they had received it, and then took Qian Wenlin's sample magazine to read and asked: "Teacher Qian, which one is yours?"

Qian Wenlin reported the title of his article.

The colleague first smiled knowingly, then searched in the catalog, and then said with a smile: "Teacher Qian, have you read the work behind your work?"

"See, it's a bit tit-for-tat." Qian Wenlin said with a smile.

When he got the sample issue, he first looked at his own works, and naturally noticed Qian Quan's article "Father's Love is Like a Mountain".

The article I wrote was about cheating, and the later article was about my son killing his mistress. The editorial department obviously did this intentionally.

"When are we going to treat you?" my colleague asked while flipping through a magazine.

"As soon as the royalties arrive, I'll treat you to a guest immediately." Qian Wenlin had been waiting for this day for a long time.

After a day of classes, Qian Wenlin returned home and had dinner with his wife, and asked, "Did Shitou tell me how his driver's license test went?"

"I passed Section 1 and have already made an appointment to take the exam for Section 2."

"Why are you in such a hurry? Section 2 is a bit difficult. You should practice more before taking the exam."

"Then tell your son, tell him your experience, don't ask me everything."

"Well, let's talk about it later." Qian Wenlin recently had the feeling that as his son grew older and gained more knowledge, there seemed to be a thin, unfamiliar barrier between them.

It seems that every father will encounter the situation of "the aura of omniscience and omnipotence gradually fading" as his children grow up.

After dinner, Qian Wenlin washed the dishes and went for a walk with his wife to eat. Then, his wife went to find Linlang's mother and the others to play mahjong, while he went back to write and practice martial arts.

Now it has become a habit to get up every morning and play Wing Chun wooden dummies for a while, write calligraphy in the evening, and then practice "Wudang Secret Small Circular Gong".

This "Small Circulation Kung Fu" with the explanations next to it makes me more and more fascinated as I practice it. It is really a good Kung Fu for self-cultivation.

However, he has also encountered some problems recently, which may come from work pressure or the emotional impact of publishing a magazine article. It is difficult for him to calm down when practicing.

For example, he is meditating quietly, his body is still, his mind is still, and his thoughts are flowing smoothly in, out, in, and out with his breathing...

Calm, settled, focused, everything is perfect.

Suddenly, some thoughts came to mind:

"What does Principal Chen mean by that sentence? Is it a nod to me?"

"Suddenly I really want to eat the noodles made by my mother."

"Do you want to call Yuhua back..."

The practice was interrupted at this point. He struggled with these thoughts and returned to breathing. Not long after, a new thought appeared:

“I don’t have to pay Shitou’s tuition anymore, which saves me a lot of money.”

"Maybe I will become a famous writer in China in the future."

“Will oil prices drop?”

It seems like a pull, falling into a vicious cycle, and you will soon feel irritable.

He stopped practicing and went to the group of relatives and friends to ask: "Stonehead's "Wudang Secret Small Circuit Kung Fu", are any of you practicing it?"

Soon, my brother-in-law replied: "There is nothing better to practice. If you have the time, why not push Pai Gow twice."

Then Uncle Qian Quan replied: "Haha, Wen Lin wants to be a god. I checked it out. That kind of kung fu is not something we ordinary people can practice."

"I originally wanted to practice, but I saw an introduction saying that practicing that kung fu can extend your life. After thinking about it, I decided not to do it. This earth has been around long enough, and I want to leave as soon as possible." Qian Quan, who is working part-time.

Cousin replied.

After reading everyone's replies, Qian Wenlin immediately understood that others did not take the document seriously.

Forget it, I just let Shitou's heart down.

At this moment, Qian Wenlin received a private message from his son: "Dad, why did you suddenly ask if anyone is practicing?"

"I wanted to discuss it with everyone, but no one cared." Qian Wenlin was helpless.

"Maybe people think I'm joking."

"I heard from your mother that you made an appointment for the subject two exam. How many times have you practiced?" Qian Wenlin changed the topic directly.

"After practicing two or three times, the coach said I practiced very well and could pass the exam."

"Remember, during the exam, drive steadily and slowly. No matter how the coach urges you, drive at your own pace."

"Um."

The chat ends.

Qian Wenlin stopped forcing himself to continue practicing and went to play Go for a while.

At about nine o'clock in the evening, I received an email from Shitong. I was curious and clicked on it:

At the knees of my father:

Dear friends, in recent days, I have been practicing "Wudang Jing Gong" and I have some insights. I would like to ask for your advice:

First, regarding the attitude of practicing meditation, I no longer want to preset a position or have any expectations. I just follow my own speed and direction, seal away my delusions, and move forward naturally;

I don't want to force myself too much, or tighten myself too much, but stay relaxed and steady;

I don’t want to be too anxious or in a hurry, I don’t cling to anything, and I don’t reject any phenomena. No matter whether good or bad phenomena appear, I should look at it with a normal mind and accept it;

I accept my distractions and make peace with myself, I question everything, I don’t believe it just because it comes from a big shot, I don’t take it for granted just because it rhymes or makes sense, but I’m also not cynical;

I regard all the good and bad as challenges and trials. When I encounter the good, I accept it happily. When I encounter the bad, I don't feel sad, but invest in it and explore it;

Finally, I do not compare myself with anyone in terms of appearance, grades, IQ or popularity, nor do I become hostile to others due to differences in status.

The second is about dealing with distractions. Every time I meditate and meditate on breathing, emotions such as bad fantasies, worries and ambitions often arise in my mind before or during meditation. The more I try to expel them, the stronger they become;

So I no longer suppressed them, but carefully observed them, no longer blamed myself for this distraction, observed them from a distance, and slowly brought my attention back to my breathing, and so on.

The third is some misunderstandings about practicing Qigong. The document my friend gave me is called "Wudang Secret Small Circulation Gong", which has the word "secret". But after practicing it, I found that it is not mysterious, but very down-to-earth and suitable for both

Practiced by big shots, it is also suitable for ordinary people;

It is a very simple behavior. It may produce some profound insights during the practice, or it may just be a superficial sense of freedom. Whatever appears is what it is, and there is no right answer;

Practicing Jing Gong is not to escape reality, nor can it solve all problems. Its gains are in subtle aspects, and there will be no huge changes in the short term. I feel that my endurance is improving little by little;

Finally, my friend did not say whether it is possible to produce a kind of "transcendence" or "supernatural power" through long-term practice, and I don't want to look forward to it. If it happens one day, I will be very happy. If it doesn't happen, I don't think it matters.

Fourth, regarding the relationship between practicing Qigong and life. For a long time, I would choose a fixed time and a fixed place to practice Qigong. However, later I discovered that static Qigong does not necessarily have to be practiced in a quiet place. It can also be practiced in daily life.

;

For example, when walking, I hold my head high, relax my neck, and move forward naturally at the slowest and most comfortable pace. I focus all my attention on the feeling coming from my feet and legs, and remember when each foot moves.

information, pay attention to the subtle differences between movements, feel every small touch change...

For example, I will pay attention to breathing anytime and anywhere, not only when practicing, but also in daily activities. I will connect breathing with every move, add rhythm to the action, stabilize the emotion of the action, experience nature, feel nature, move when I move, and be still when I move.

then quiet;

I also seize every scrap of time to practice, while waiting for the bus, while queuing in the cafeteria, during recess...

For example, I also try to incorporate every little thing and every emotion in daily life into the practice. Whether these emotions are positive or negative, beautiful or shameful, it doesn't matter. I just want to observe and pay attention to what it is.

Even when I'm bored, I want to find out what boredom feels like, how it works, how it affects my state of mind, and what it's made of.

The same goes for anger and frustration.

I think that when I have mastered these thoughts and can properly handle every sudden distracting or delusional thought, then I can freely focus on my breathing and the flow of breath when I practice meditation.

.

At that time, can it be said that I have entered the next level?

I hope my dad can correct me on some unsystematic random thoughts.

November 30

Qian Wenlin was stunned for a long time after reading the email. Not to mention whether the method proposed in the email would work, but the points he targeted were all about which he had doubts or confusions. In many places, he suddenly felt enlightened just by reading the text.

A feeling of cheerfulness.

What's even more rare is that the methods he proposed are not lofty at all, but are all concrete and practical.

Just from this point alone, it can be said that father and son are truly connected, right?

Qian Wenlin felt both relieved and a little ashamed. He felt that his son had made rapid progress in all aspects after entering college.

After thinking for a while, he replied:

"Read it, not bad."
