Dear Broom Knight

#134 - Tiger Blade's Past

The 'Blade of the Tiger' Adventuring Group always followed the direction of their leader, Leon's, blade.

Except when their second-in-command, Yuri, got angry.

The usually gentle and friendly scholar, who hid behind Leon and almost never opposed his actions that outsiders considered insane, was actually the craziest of the 'Blade of the Tiger'.

He didn't think Leon's actions were crazy; it was just that if it were him, he might have done even worse.

Leon was the bottom line for the 'Blade of the Tiger'.

And Yuri was always the one whose gaze lingered beyond that bottom line… including the bottom line of the law.

Leon was the reins that held back the mad horse.

But, occasionally, even he couldn't hold him back… Yuri hated the woman who had forced them to leave the palace and fend for themselves.

Of course, he never regretted choosing to follow Leon, a member of the royal family, after awakening as a scholar and being selected for the royal library.

Leon might have been unrealistic in many ways, but he gave him a home to return to.

How could someone as intelligent and cold as him not understand that his family, and his own parents, had shifted their attention to his younger brother after determining that he, the future heir, could only be a scholar who would take many years to complete his job advancement?

Scholars needed not only talent but also a guide.

Unlike mages, who, although they would have difficulty advancing without a teacher, wouldn't be completely lost.

Reading only made them smarter; the ability to copy and fully understand skills was their career path.

Unless they were exceptionally gifted, able to comprehend skills directly from reading a few books.

However, Yuri wasn't that outstanding; his talent could only be described as passable.

Yet, he happened to be born into a particularly 'pure' knight family, one that couldn't find a member of any other profession for five hundred years and was very proud of it.

They couldn't find a scholar teacher willing to help.

Of course, it wasn't impossible if the family was willing to pay enough, but Yuri's family couldn't afford it.

Who told them to commit so many sins before!

Scholars were indeed fond of teaching and willing to help children embark on this path of no return, but never those from rude families who demeaned scholars who could only copy other magical or even divine skills into the mud.

Yuri didn't blame the scholars who refused to teach him; he knew very well that his family, which served in the King's army but didn't even have a high-ranking military position or a level 10 Great Knight, didn't have enough value to surpass the pride of those scholars.

Moreover, the royal family never used coercive measures to treat these future advisors.

It could be said that the vast majority of Yuri's colleagues came from ordinary people's families; very few were from minor noble families, and most were sent to the palace to give their children a better life.

Yuri's situation was truly rare.

Scholars were just difficult to cultivate, but once successful, they would inevitably bring great benefits to the family.

Ordinary noble families would gamble on it no matter what… Even if they couldn't participate in direct combat, which army didn't have advisors?

Not to mention that Yuri was the eldest son.

Although when he was sent to the palace, his registered identity was not his original one.

So, that family also knew how incredible the thing they had done was… Even if they added a fig leaf for themselves, who with discerning eyes couldn't see it?

Yuri knew very well that after doing such a thing, that family had cut off their own path forward.

Proper nobles would never marry into them again.

Families with some foundation, tracing back ten generations, wouldn't know how many kinds of talents could appear; how could they all be nobles?

Everyone only wanted talented people! Could they stipulate what kind of talent it should be?

Even God couldn't do that.

Abandoning an eldest son who could at least become a professional for such an absurd reason not only proved their short-sightedness and brainlessness but also proved their greed.

Everyone could see the real reason they were unwilling… Imagining how much money they would have to spend for Yuri in the future, they couldn't accept it.

So, although he hated the family he came from, Yuri really didn't have any intention of revenge.

Occasionally, in the middle of the night, Yuri would even wake up in a cold sweat because he dreamed that he hadn't been sent away by his family… So many idiots!

He was truly, thoroughly, and wholeheartedly following Leon.

At that time, Leon's father, as the hidden heir to the throne, although his health wasn't very good because of the hardships he had suffered in his youth, his living environment had greatly improved, and he could even marry a second wife.

Leon was actually the eldest son of the new prince's consort.

It was just that for some reason, everything related to that eldest prince was sealed very tightly, and the outside world didn't even know that he had been married in his youth.

And the young new prince's consort, who came from a great noble family, everyone could guess why she married an old man with poor health.

However, the prince's consort, who was competing with the previous one in terms of the number of children and finally gave birth to a second son after adding two younger sisters to Leon, was striving to completely eliminate the previous consort's children when her dear husband, who had been very fond of her, suddenly died.

Her dear husband, who had turned a blind eye to her actions, suddenly became a cold-blooded and heartless father-in-law who didn't care about her tears.

The solution that the new prince's consort, whose intentions had been exposed, came up with was to throw out her son Leon, who had always disagreed with her actions.

Among the tearful eyes of his own mother and two younger sisters, Leon couldn't resist.

If he could resist, he wouldn't be him.

Fortunately, although Leon bore most of the blame, no one thought it was him, including the two older brothers who were almost unlucky.

So, although he had to swear to give up his right to inherit the throne and leave the capital to survive on his own, Leon wasn't too miserable under the White Dragon King's tough stance.

At least, Leon received his due share of his father's property.

In fact, if you only looked at twenty years ago, the White Dragon King didn't really care about Leon, his foolish grandson who valued loyalty and righteousness too much.

However, Leon's father's descendants, although they had done a good job of fulfilling their responsibility to reproduce, weren't very good at eugenics.

Leon's excellence became particularly striking.

Yuri always felt that when he sent Alex to Leon a few years ago, the White Dragon King was trying to win back his grandson's heart.

Unfortunately, Leon had no intention of turning back at all, and in the end, he became Hamilton.

Yuri never regretted leaving that prosperous city, that luxurious palace, behind Leon.

If it weren't for Leon's frank and sincere personality, how could he have touched his almost frozen heart?

Yuri followed not only the older brother who had treated him like a younger brother for so many years but also the little bit of conscience he had left.

Later, they took in Aluna, who had fled because of some unspeakable disasters… Compared to Yuri and Leon, who were already adults, Aluna was only 12 years old that year, and he didn't know how to survive on his own because of years of pampered life. He was really raised little by little by Leon and Yuri.

Although they had some money in their pockets, raising an almost autistic child wasn't that easy.

In addition, Leon, who was still greatly traumatized at the time, was determined to prove that he could survive on his own, always returning home covered in injuries.

Yuri, who was taking care of the child and was overwhelmed by Leon's outrageous behavior, lived even more miserably than a housewife raising a bunch of children.

Even now, when Yuri recalled the past, he couldn't help but want to slap Leon twice.

Seven was better; by the time he joined, Leon had recovered from the pain that the whole world was against him, and Aluna had finally found the center of his life, wholeheartedly wanting to become a swordsman, with no other trouble except for needing to spend some money.

Yuri could never resent Leon.

When he followed Leon, who was full of resentment for being abandoned by his family, out of the capital, he understood what kind of days were waiting for him.

Even taking in Aluna, Yuri had a little selfishness… At least it could let Leon see what a child who was really abandoned by his family would be like.

Moreover, Leon might not feel anything about the kind of life he and Yuri were living… Not because Leon couldn't see Yuri, but because the days they had spent together since childhood had made Leon regard Yuri as an integral existence; unless Yuri was hurt or drastically changed his appearance, Leon would find it difficult to quickly feel Yuri's predicament.

After all, he himself was unaware in that kind of predicament.

But if a child didn't eat well or dress well, the kind-hearted him could quickly notice it.

Yuri always cherished himself and wouldn't harm himself in order to make Leon realize; it wasn't like he couldn't think of a way!

In the end, he still dragged Leon back on track, didn't he?

At the same time, he also gained several brothers who treated him sincerely.

But being free of regrets about the past didn't mean that Yuri didn't hate the woman who caused all of this!

It's fine if you have ambition, but you should bear the consequences yourself!

Why sacrifice your son who loves and respects you so much!
