Dear Broom Knight
#154 - Ian has a problem
Alex paused for a moment before setting up the tent and crawling inside.
He had originally thought Lowry would give him a mage's hut!
He hadn't expected Lowry to be so cautious.
However, compared to himself, Lowry clearly understood those dimensional spells better... so, why didn't that guy want him to go into a closed dimensional hut?
Alex felt around his storage ring, pulled out a set of clothes, thought for a moment, and put the innerwear back in. He neatly changed out of the dirty and torn outer robe and trousers, and also changed his shoes.
He had originally planned to take a bath, clean the wounds on his body, and then change into a whole set of clothes.
But, this ordinary tent that could only block eyes, not ears, and even less so magical probing... it didn't seem very ordinary.
After changing his clothes, Alex couldn't help but look around the six-square-meter rectangular tent that popped up automatically when pressed, reaching as high as two meters.
The moment the tent opened, slender, circular steel columns popped out from each corner simultaneously, piercing through the snow layer and into the soil below.
Alex estimated that the length of these steel columns should be at least two-thirds of the tent's height. If it were on a plain, such long support points would eliminate the need to worry about weather beyond storms.
Inside the tent, a 15-centimeter-high, oversized double bed was also set up, comfortable enough for a tall knight like him to lie on.
The floor under the tent was clearly made of a special expandable material, with a layer of air directly injected to insulate it from the ground's cold... this was really useful in their Icewind Country.
Some panels were also hanging on the edges of the tent. Alex could tell at a glance that they could not only form a second bed in the tent but also be opened to become temporary tables and chairs.
Based on his understanding of Lowry, he usually wouldn't ask for the daily necessities he gave to someone he completely looked down upon.
In other words, in Lowry's eyes, this thing was as worthless as the grass he usually bought; otherwise, that guy would have just thrown him a piece of cloth to wrap around himself.
Of course, Alex knew that Lowry didn't like him, especially after he attacked Valera.
If they could have been friendly acquaintances before, Lowry hadn't even seen him since then.
Even when he publicly appeared as the Icewind Prince and left from the Knights' garrison, Lowry hadn't shown his face at all.
From his behavior of constantly tracking in the sky, it could be seen that Lowry actually knew everything. However, he still chose to remain silently on the sidelines.
To be honest, Lowry really didn't seem like a true noble. Even the mages Alex knew had stronger desires than him.
Apart from the things he cared about, Lowry gave him the feeling of someone who wouldn't even reach out for readily available benefits that he never even considered.
However, outsiders really couldn't even touch the things Lowry cared about.
But, Alex only felt a little freedom here with Lowry.
He knew that perhaps some people's attention came from goodwill, but he really didn't need it.
Having long understood what kind of path he intended to take, Alex wouldn't be moved by anyone's goodwill or swayed by malice, and he certainly wouldn't change because of anyone.
You could say he was stubborn and conceited, say he had no humanity, but Alex never felt that there was anything wrong with being like this.
He was the Icewind King.
Raising his head and chest, walking out of the small tent, and unhesitatingly putting it into his storage ring, Alex put on the most sincere smile he had practiced countless times in the mirror: "Dear Lowry, if I want to buy this tent, what's the lowest price you can give me?
If the price is right, I might buy more than 10,000."
Lowry looked at him with a bewildered expression: "What's the use of that thing?
I don't plan to do this kind of cheap goods business."
Alex gently took a breath... this was the most troublesome thing about Lowry.
There was no use talking to him about quantity. He could calculate a total price at the fastest speed, then compare it horizontally with his own basic wealth, and finally come to the conclusion that it was a waste of time, and directly reject it.
And Lowry was a rare low-level mage who was good at making magical items... Alex was a little suspicious of the 'low-level' part.
Although it had only been a short time, only eight years since he embarked on the path of a mage, it was hard to believe that Lowry had already touched the edge of being a mid-level mage.
But based on Alex's experience with him, he deeply suspected that this kid had already advanced to a third-ring mage a year ago.
Seriously, not the kind who barely touched the edge by relying on powerful mental strength to use alchemical tools.
It was just because Lowry used to take out the third-ring items his teacher made for him, and now he rarely made a move, that people thought he was still a fourth-level mage.
Moreover, judging from Lowry's unscrupulous display of illusion cards, Alex even suspected that he had already touched the edge of sixth level.
Although at Alex's level, 10th-level professionals were not uncommon, and big shots like 10th-level mages were not very rare, but in the world of ordinary people, in the realm of nobles, a 6th-level mage, taking some good things could even pretend to be a 7th-level mage, Lowry, it was simply...
Mrs. Yagres, at level 12, was indeed still terrifying, but compared to Count Montes, who was only at level 10 back then, Lowry was completely different now.
This was the power of mages.
But rich mages were really hard to deal with!
Alex pondered for a long time but couldn't think of any way to impress Lowry, who simply didn't care about this little bit of money.
"Allow me to interject, may I?" Ianis of the Dark Moon, who had been smiling and watching them communicate, asked softly.
"Of course, it's my honor," Alex glanced at Lowry, who didn't want to pay attention to the female priest at all and turned his head to look at the sky, and could only open his mouth to respond.
Only Ianis and the Earth Bishop had come together; the other one should have gone over there to lend a hand.
Alex didn't ask where the other lady had gone, which proved that he was willing to accept this kindness from the Church of the Dark Night... this was definitely a good thing for the Church of the Dark Night, which was slightly behind the Church of the Earth.
In any case, before those subordinates took care of themselves and reported to Alex, he had enough time to listen to the words of a certain Dark Moon lady.
Alex glanced at Lowry out of the corner of his eye, his heart pounding like a lively rabbit.
What exactly was it that made this mage, who could face his grandfather and even the giant white dragon without changing his expression, choose to avoid?
Although Lowry had been famous for being weird and arrogant since he was a child, Alex, who had argued with Lowry dozens of times, knew very well that Lowry's nature was not rude at all.
He would indeed ignore people he didn't like, but he would never keep his distance and constantly avoid eye contact like he was now.
Damn it, he just went home to take over the throne!
Although he showed his well-honed smile, Alex was inwardly howling... he hadn't been so nervous even when he realized he had fallen into Isabella's trap.
Ianis also knew about Lowry's famous damned temper.
Therefore, she was very clear that what she had said and done in the castle restaurant that time had offended this lord badly.
It was already very good that he was just looking at the sky instead of directly mocking him.
So, she just smiled gently and said: "Although for Baron Lowry, these military tents are not worth him doing it himself, but, I remember, Gezall also has mage apprentices and prospective scholars, right?
There are even several apprentice bards!
Since Baron Lowry has allowed them to work in his shop, wouldn't it be better to let them do some less demanding alchemy work?
It can also divide some of the things that don't require magic professions to ordinary people to make.
This, after all, is a military tent, and it must be able to be exported to other countries, and the price must be considered high... that little bit of manual labor that professionals look down on can support a family for ordinary people!
Baron Lowry is so good to the ordinary people of Gezall... he must also be willing to sacrifice a little of his time and energy for them, right?
Anyway, as long as you teach those people, Baron Lowry won't need to worry about it in the future."
Lowry suddenly turned his head and said with a look of annoyance: "Who do you think you are?
Why should you command me?
What? Did the Church of the Dark Night drive the Church of the Storm out of the Kingdom of the North and replace them?"
Ianis looked at Lowry Montes's unusually angry face, her eyes flashing slightly: "This... Baron Lowry, if I made you unhappy, then, I'm really sorry.
But, I've been watching Gezall during this time..."
"I don't need anyone to command me to do things!" Lowry curled his lips wickedly, "If you want the qualifications to point fingers at me, why don't you go find the old man..."
"Lowry!" Alex quickly opened his mouth to stop Lowry from further attacks... based on his understanding of this guy, just letting Ianis go to talk to the former Count Montes was something Lowry would only say when he was in a good mood; it was even more likely that he would ask Ianis if she wanted to be his little stepmother.
Although Ianis was obviously very satisfied with his probing, Alex was really soaked through!
Although according to common sense, Lowry dared to say this, which meant that he just hated Ianis and hadn't discovered anything abnormal.
But, Alex deeply understood... this woman definitely had a problem!
And, it was definitely a big problem that would kill them all if triggered!
Alex's mind echoed the warning his grandfather had given him when he confirmed that he was willing to stay in Gezall.
