Dear Broom Knight
#17 - The first thing is to dig out the bird's nest
Fortunately, even with such a simple name, there would definitely be no situation where the name was already taken and needed to be changed. Fireworks of congratulations immediately went off on the panel.
And Lowry, at this moment, couldn't care less about the things being sent into the virtual castle. He first placed the pair of small Living Feathers, about the size of hummingbirds, on the cuff of his black and gold robe.
Then he turned his head, with a serious and confident expression, and wrote the name 'Living Feather' on the Knights Order document again.
"Living Feather?" Cheska repeated, then chuckled in surprise, "Although it's a good name, it's too grand… Ah! What is that?"
The almost broken scream proved how surprised Cheska was. Taylor, the little brother standing behind her, immediately covered his ears and squatted down.
But the young boy's eyes were still fixed on Lowry's raised hands.
The pair of tiny birds, made up of countless feathers, that Lowry took out from his long sleeves, drew the attention of everyone with good eyesight.
"Young Master Lowry… when did you get these Living Feathers?" Cheska tried her best to calm herself and asked with clenched fists, "Can… can we, the Barony of Gezar, support them?"
"They're easy to raise in the early stages," Lowry replied with a bright smile. "As long as there are enough bird feathers.
If there aren't enough, domestic chickens, ducks, and geese can also be used, but it will only slow down their growth a little. It won't affect their lives at all.
Living Feathers, as magical creatures, are easier to survive than humans, as long as they are hidden well.
Otherwise, their parents wouldn't be so carefree, giving birth and then running away."
Lowry tilted his head: "As for how I got them~ What can't you see if you live long enough?
It's even easier if you like to wander around."
This pile of nonsense naturally earned him a glare from Cheska.
But Cheska, who knew her lord well, also understood that the acquisition of these Living Feathers might need to be kept secret, but it was definitely not through some crooked means where the Living Feathers themselves couldn't be shown in public.
So she just asked seriously: "Any kind of feathers will do?
If even feathers from mortal creatures are acceptable, then let Taylor be responsible for collecting bird feathers."
Cheska naturally ignored the nonsense about chickens, ducks, and geese. No matter how easy they are to raise, they are still magical creatures, and it's impossible to waste them like that.
"Taylor, is that okay?" Lowry tilted his head, and had to get serious along with his serious aide, "Otherwise, let him take two followers to the town and find the children to do this job?
Children know best where to find birds."
Anyway, they always go to steal bird nests when they have nothing to do all day.
Cheska nodded: "That's good too. Our first contact with the Gezar Territory, starting with the children, is also more appropriate."
It just so happens that their Young Master Lowry's reputation has always been very loud.
Even though it's absurd to arrange for the children to steal bird nests as soon as they arrive, it seems understandable when it happens to Lowry.
After all, the people of the Gezar Territory have become accustomed to days without anyone managing them for many years. Although they have earned a lot of money from the construction of the Baron's Castle, they are still in a state of distant observation.
Using this method to open up an entry point is much better than her initial plan… Cheska suddenly narrowed her eyes and glanced at Lowry gently.
That young master, who was pulling Taylor and discussing collecting white and blue feathers first, didn't seem to be thinking that much.
But Cheska didn't dare to really think that he didn't know anything.
Whether it was the family's repeated instructions before following Lowry, or what she saw of that young master afterwards, Cheska constantly reminded herself not to be blinded by external things.
Just like this pair of Living Feathers, which came from who knows where.
It was all because this young master went to certain places he shouldn't have gone to.
For example, climbing the steepest and highest cliff in the Montes Territory at the age of five… No one even knew how he slipped out of the castle and climbed the mountain by himself.
Although Cheska's mother once said that it was because a certain former colleague of hers was too irresponsible, underestimating Young Master Lowry's energy and grudge-holding… Mrs. Agreus had actually planned to send that senior maid away from the castle when Young Master Lowry was particularly dissatisfied with her daily accounts.
But, nobles always like to hide everything under a surface of peace.
Especially since this might make Mrs. Agreus lose face on the left wing… This was someone Agreus herself brought to Montes Castle.
In the beginning, so many of Montes Castle's original senior maids were cleared out for Lowry's safety, and a maid with knight strength was specially arranged, but it was a mess… Even Pat didn't expect that someone who was earning such a high salary would still be greedy for that kind of small money.
In Agreus's eyes, who had been fighting on the battlefield for many years and had military merits, Lowry's little money was really nothing, otherwise Pat wouldn't have been so relieved to let her handle the daily accounts.
However, no one expected that she, whose income was comparable to that of some minor nobles, would be so short of money… In Cheska's mother's words, it was called earning an official's annual salary and living the life of a princess.
Some of the expensive and luxurious jewelry that was found later were things that even Mrs. Agreus herself had to hesitate for a long time before buying.
Who would have thought that a staunch female warrior who had once fought alongside Agreus on the battlefield would fall into such a pit?
But it was precisely because of those indelible memories that Mrs. Agreus and Pat were planning to send that person away at a suitable time.
But Young Master Lowry probably couldn't understand the way adults think, and only felt that everyone didn't take him seriously.
Then, there was such a thrilling mountain climbing exercise… against the backdrop of Montes Castle almost turning upside down.
However, from then on, Earl Montes and Mrs. Agreus would give Young Master Lowry a little information on matters related to him, and would not make all the decisions for him just because he was young.
Don't think that Young Master Lowry has been acting very passively since he suddenly came to the Barony of Gezar.
But that's because the timing is just different.
The result was already set, and it was also approved by Young Master Lowry himself.
Otherwise, Mrs. Agreus's attitude towards Earl Montes wouldn't be so tough… Besides his own mother, Young Master Lowry didn't miss anything in the Earl's Castle.
Living Feathers have no natural enemies, although sometimes people hunt them for their innate magic. If killed, Living Feathers will produce a certain number of feathers that can be used for feather weaving or feather magic. High-level Living Feathers may produce enough feathers for a feather tapestry.
Most Living Feathers grow exceptionally slowly, needing to find bright feathers to add to themselves. When low-level Living Feathers reach their growth limit, they will begin to seek more and more materials to incorporate into their form. Once they reach their goal, or obtain a Feather Amulet, they will metamorphose into high-level Living Feathers.
This is a special creature from the Maztica continent in DND. I really like its setting, but in Hill's story, that continent will inevitably have no sense of existence.
What interesting creatures~
But even in the DND story, this creature is not important.
It's like a wondrous beauty created, with a beautiful song, but destined to be destroyed by humans. Even the illustrations are so rough.
