Doomsday: Gain experience by hunting

#48 - Is that nectar that is thrown?

Tang Wen: "We should find Commander Zhao!"

Zhou Bing grasped Tang Wen's hand back: "Commander Zhao should be on night duty. Let's find my uncle."

"Go directly to the General? Aren't you afraid my premonition is wrong, Sister Bing?"

"Lives are at stake. What does it matter if it's wrong?"

Zhou Bing pulled Tang Wen straight towards the house where General Zhou was resting.

While talking to the guards at the door, the lights inside the house came on. General Zhou was awake and let the two in.

Tang Wen explained his premonition.

General Zhou pondered: "This is a coal mining area, and the closest front line to the Black Mountain Camp. Let's just treat it as an attack drill and wake everyone up. It's not... bad!"

Before he finished speaking, his expression suddenly changed drastically. He rushed out like the wind.

Tang Wen and Zhou Bing looked at each other blankly and followed closely behind.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh"

A sound of rushing wind came from the dark night sky.

"Night attack! It's a catapult!"

"Release the signal arrows! Hunting teams, assemble!"

The shouts were deafening.

The entire camp was awakened.

Then, to Tang Wen's shock, General Zhou unleashed several fist shadows into the air from a distance.

Zhou Bing gripped her spear, wanting to intercept the falling objects as well.

Tang Wen held her down, and stones flew from his hands, smashing towards the sky.

Even if he couldn't block these stones, he could still change their trajectory.

Crack, crack.

The sound of jars breaking rang out.

What?

What was falling from the sky wasn't stones?

Tang Wen began to doubt his ears.

But the next second, liquid sprinkled down from the sky.

The two quickly dodged, but inevitably, they were splashed.

"What is this?" The unease in Tang Wen's heart grew stronger.

The night wind blew, and a fragrance wafted over.

Zhou Bing raised her arm and smelled it, her expression becoming strange: "It seems to be flower honey. The fragrance is very strong."

Before she finished speaking, someone in the distance said:

"General, everyone, it's Hundred Flower Honey. The jars flying through the sky are filled with honey!"

"What?"

"How could it be flower honey?"

"Did those idiots mistake honey for kerosene at night and throw it over?"

"Impossible! The Black Mountain Devils aren't that stupid."

"."

The mining area became chaotic. The hunting teams were fine; they rested together as a team at night. They could leave now, surrounded by trusted comrades.

Moreover, they were well-trained and wouldn't experience the chaos of ancient armies panicking at night and slaughtering each other.

"Alternate guarding! Half of the people should first find a way to remove the honey scent from their bodies."

"Ordinary miners in the mining area, evacuate the mining area according to emergency regulations. Evacuate!"

General Zhou's order rang out. He stood in front, as if facing a formidable enemy.

Rumble!

The earth was shaking.

As if thousands of horses were galloping.

Tang Wen and Zhou Bing exchanged glances, seeing disbelief in each other's eyes.

This was mountainous terrain.

Opposite them was a forest!

How could horses or other mounts gallop through the forest?

"Black Mountain Devils! Get out here!"

Commander Zhao, standing on high ground, roared.

"Swish swish swish"

Each team of archers occupied favorable positions and began to tentatively shoot arrows into the forest.

"Roar!"

A huge roar.

Zhou Bing, who was cleaning the honey off her body, felt her brain go dizzy and almost fell to the ground.

The others were the same. Those with weaker strength simply sat on the ground.

"Mutated beast! It's a Tyrant Bear!"

There was a hint of tremor in Commander Zhao's voice.

A Tyrant Bear with the strength equivalent to a General-level expert. Its terrifying combat power was enough to make ten hunting teams despair!

After shouting, Commander Zhao snatched a bow and arrow from the person next to him and shot three arrows in a row at the tank-like figure!

"Beast! Come find me!"

Commander Zhao drew his bow and shot arrows, jumping off the high ground.

Tyrant Bear?

Tang Wen frowned. Hearing the name and seeing Commander Zhao's reaction, he knew it was not to be trifled with.

"You two retreat first. Take the small path directly back to the camp! The Black Mountain Devils are also coming for you!"

A figure flashed before their eyes. General Zhou crossed a distance of dozens of meters in one step and arrived in front of the two.

Tang Wen immediately turned around, but Zhou Bing hesitated.

"This is an order. I will use you to attract pursuers! Run as fast as you can!"

Hearing this, Tang Wen's expression changed again. He grabbed Zhou Bing and turned to flee.

The two had just run away from the mining area when they faintly heard a voice echoing behind them: "Each hunting team, new recruits, retreat quickly, abandon the mining area! Abandon the mining area!"

Things were so serious?

The two exchanged glances and lowered their heads to accelerate, their armor clattering.

"There might be ambushes on the main road we came from." The dark forest in front of him made Tang Wen feel uneasy.

"We'll take a detour."

The sounds of fighting rose behind them. The two left the main road leading directly to the camp and ran diagonally into the depths of the forest.

They ran for more than ten miles in one breath.

Zhou Bing's face was pale. She stopped and waved her hand at Tang Wen: "You go first and return to the camp to find someone to pick me up."

Her injuries had not healed, and her internal organs could no longer withstand the shock.

"I'll carry you!"

"It's still far from the camp. You go first!"

The unease in Tang Wen's heart had not dissipated. How could he leave her alone?

"Quick!" He forcibly grabbed Zhou Bing's hands and placed them on his shoulders.

"Alright." She knew that Tang Wen had considerable endurance and didn't say more.

She proactively wrapped her legs around his waist, freeing his hands.

Her whole person was like an oversized koala, hanging on Tang Wen.

Zhou Bing was a martial artist, with solid muscles all over her body, plus the weight of her armor and spear.

She weighed at least two hundred pounds.

Tang Wen carried her on his back, but his speed did not decrease at all. He continued to run wildly.

At the same time, the people from the Flame Camp retreated from the mine.

Commander Zhao led people to barely entangle with the Tyrant Bear.

General Zhou was nowhere to be seen. He should have gone to intercept the Black Mountain Camp's general.

The Black Mountain Camp entered as if entering an uninhabited land, coming from the mining area to the forest.

There were two people in the lead, a middle-aged man with a dull expression and a man dressed as a hunter.

The hunter took a deep breath and then held his breath for half a minute. He pointed in the direction Tang Wen and Zhou Bing had fled: "Among the people who fled in that direction, there is a woman. They have a strong honey scent on them."

The middle-aged man immediately waved his hand: "Chase after them! If there is a target, send a signal."

"Understood." A group of six people tracked in that direction.

"Go, let's go look elsewhere."

There was still snow in the forest, and the ground was damp.

The trackers followed the footprints on the ground, far behind Tang Wen and the two.

"Something's not right!" Tang Wen suddenly stopped.

"What's wrong?"

"I feel like someone is chasing us from behind."

Zhou Bing turned her head to look at the ground: "Our footprints are too deep. Listen to me, you go first. You're fast, go get reinforcements."

Even at his fastest, it would be too late. Tang Wen knew she didn't want to burden him and shook his head: "The danger isn't great. Should we set up an ambush?"

"It's a bit risky, should we find a mountain path to take?"

"Okay." After speaking, Tang Wen observed his surroundings and suddenly discovered that the pine tree branches overhead were connected: "How about we confuse them first?"

"Listen to you, but if things are impossible, you must go first."

Tang Wen pretended not to hear the second half of the sentence. He had run dozens of miles and still didn't feel tired.

He used both his hands and feet, climbing the tree like a monkey.

He stood on the thick tree trunk, took a few deep breaths to adjust, aimed at the target, and suddenly exerted force, leaping out seven or eight meters.

Pa!

The two simultaneously grabbed the thick branches of another tree.

Crack, crack, crack, the branch suddenly sank, making a sound as if it couldn't bear the weight.

But at least it held on.

"Phew!"

Zhou Bing breathed a sigh of relief, gently released her hand, and grabbed Tang Wen's shoulder.

"Can you still hold on?" The impact of the jump was greater than running.

"I'm fine."

"Okay, hold me tight!"

She didn't speak, silently tightening her arms and slender legs.

After a few jumps, Tang Wen slightly changed direction and ran towards the mountains.

The ground in the mountains was hard and wouldn't easily leave footprints.

Arriving at the mountain road, after running for a while, they heard the sound of water.

A frozen stream appeared in front of the two, with water flowing slowly beneath the ice.

The mountain road was particularly exhausting. Tang Wen stopped and found a cave nearby.

He carried Zhou Bing into the cave.

"Has the danger not disappeared?"

Tang Wen nodded: "The enemy probably has tracking methods. Smell it, we still have a faint honey scent on us."

The two's armor and clothes were covered in honey.

After a run, it had long since dried.

But the smell didn't dissipate and was difficult to deal with.

"There's water here, but no fire. We can't dry after washing. Let's throw away the armor," Zhou Bing said, taking off her helmet.

"I have a fire starter. Sister Bing, wash off the smell on your body here, and I'll go to the back to lure them away."

Zhou Bing didn't agree, but Tang Wen didn't listen to her. He took off his armor and threw the fire starter and brown sugar to her: "Wait for me for an hour."

"You, be careful!"

Tang Wen strode towards the way he came, his intuition telling him that the pursuers behind him couldn't be shaken off. He could only kill them!
