Dragon's Origin

#1089 - Empty (Part 2)

The walls and floor were empty, so the only focal point was definitely the Lao Jun statue. Without Wang Sheng saying it, everyone must have been thinking the same thing, but with so many people present, each with their own thoughts, no one had said it out loud.

Wang Sheng broke the unspoken agreement, and the others seemed to have a way out, nodding in agreement and then actively walking to the Lao Jun statue to study it.

Daoist Ling Xu glanced at Wang Sheng, a hint of a smile in his eyes. Wang Sheng returned a knowing look, then stood behind with his arms crossed, watching the others study.

In fact, only the six sect leaders actually went up to study it. Even the Grand Master just stood there watching, waiting for the results. Now that they were all here, how could anyone discover something and escape everyone's notice?

The statue was obviously carved from local stone, Wang Sheng could tell at a glance. Although Wang Sheng hadn't reached the level of Grandmaster Lu, who could tell everything with a single glance and touch, he could still tell if it was the same stone.

Not only was it the same stone, but the Lao Jun statue itself was directly connected to the ground stone. It was essentially one piece of stone, hollowed out to form this space, and then a Lao Jun statue was abruptly carved in the middle. There must be some intention behind this.

The six sect leaders looked very carefully. The Grand Master, afraid they couldn't see clearly, specially instructed a few Qing-generation Taoists to light several huge candles made of demon beast oil around the area. Instantly, the space inside became bright, making it easier for everyone to observe.

Suddenly illuminated, the six sect leaders were attracted and glanced over, then continued to study the Lao Jun statue. After looking it over from top to bottom, they didn't seem to find anything.

Sect Leader Tongming seemed a little impatient and directly started using his hands. He at least remembered his identity, first offering a salute to the Lao Jun statue and apologizing, before reaching out to carefully touch the statue.

The Lao Jun statue was more than two people tall, and people below might not be able to see the top. So, after Sect Leader Tongming looked and touched the lower part of the statue and didn't see anything, he directly jumped onto the statue's lap and began to examine the upper part.

The other five sect leaders didn't follow suit. Everyone stopped and watched Sect Leader Tongming's actions. To be honest, Sect Leader Tongming's actions were somewhat disrespectful to the Lao Jun statue. Everyone's faces looked a little ugly, but no one spoke.

Sect Leader Tongming almost climbed onto the Lao Jun statue's head, checking every inch. Everyone retreated a few steps, not blocking his light, and watched quietly.

After checking for a full half hour and finding nothing, Sect Leader Tongming jumped down with a livid face and suddenly turned to the Grand Master, sternly asking, "Grand Master, we were all here checking just now, but you didn't even look. Is it because you clearly knew there wouldn't be anything here?"

Wang Sheng's eyes widened when he saw Sect Leader Tongming questioning the Grand Master with such righteousness. What kind of freak would say such a thing? With this level of intelligence, he could become the sect leader of a Taoist sect?

From the beginning, Sect Leader Tongming had acted unwilling, constantly nitpicking and suspecting that Lao Jun Temple had secretly opened the inheritance ground. But the series of formations in the passage had already proven that Lao Jun Temple couldn't have done anything. How could this guy still say such a thing now?

"Because the place is small, you were all surrounding it, so I couldn't squeeze in," the Grand Master said with a smile to Sect Leader Tongming, his face expressionless. "Sect Leader Tongming, have you finished looking? Can you step aside and let me take a look?"

Sect Leader Tongming didn't expect the Grand Master to so easily dismiss his questioning, and his face turned red. He couldn't say anything.

The Grand Master smiled and slowly stepped forward, walking straight towards Sect Leader Tongming. Sect Leader Tongming was startled and was about to be on guard, but the Grand Master didn't even look at him, bypassed him, and went directly to the Lao Jun statue to carefully study it. As he looked, he even asked an old Qing-generation Taoist to bring the giant candle closer so he could see more clearly.

Wang Sheng shook his head. Sect Leader Tongming's level of intelligence dared to challenge the Grand Master? He really didn't know how to spell the word 'death'.

This was really boring. Wang Sheng winked at Daoist Ling Xu, signaling him to go out and chat. The old Taoist also found it boring to stay here, nodded, and the two of them left along the passage without notifying anyone.

It was pitch black along the way, but neither of them was affected, and they quietly walked out of the passage.

Squeezing out of the narrow hole, Wang Sheng nodded to the Taoist beside the hole, then went directly out of the kitchen to get some fresh air.

Daoist Ling Xu followed behind, and Wang Sheng walked all the way to the clean incense burner.

"Old Daoist, how did that guy become a sect leader?" Wang Sheng didn't hold back when talking to the old Taoist, and asked directly, "Were the people in his sect blind?"

"In their sect, there was originally a disciple named Tonghui who was good in all aspects. Later, when he was about to take over the sect, he suddenly died of a serious illness," the old Taoist replied quickly, not hiding anything. "Everyone felt there was something wrong, but they couldn't find any evidence. Didn't those guys inside also use this to poke at that guy?"

Indeed, the hot-tempered one inside clearly said that Sect Leader Tongming had the ability to kill his junior brother Tonghui, clearly targeting that guy.

"What did you discover?" Although the old Taoist's cultivation was much higher than Wang Sheng's, he was simply not on the same level as Wang Sheng in terms of observation and creativity. He patted the clean incense burner and asked Wang Sheng.

"Nothing," Wang Sheng shook his head directly. "There aren't even any formations fluctuations inside. Old Daoist, did your classics record it wrong? Or did you copy it wrong when you transcribed it? Where is there any inheritance formation? There aren't any formations fluctuations at all. Can you find an inheritance formation for me?"

"The inheritance formation can't be wrong," the old Taoist shook his head. "Even if only Lao Jun Temple copied it wrong, could the other six sects have all copied it wrong? Everyone has the same records, so there must be an inheritance formation."

"Then why are you still wasting time inside?" Wang Sheng turned his head to look at the kitchen and then turned back to Daoist Ling Xu, saying, "Just go directly and find the inheritance formation!"

"How easy is that?" The old Taoist still shook his head. "This place is so big, where are we going to find an inheritance formation?"

"Idiot!" Wang Sheng unceremoniously ridiculed the old Taoist. "Inheritance formations need energy and can't have no replenishment. Find possible energy sources in this area! For example, where are there any ground fire veins around here?"
