Dragon's Origin
#390 - No Explanation (Part 1)
Chapter 225: No Explanation (Part 1)
After several more days of hardship and the loss of a fifth-level master as a guard, the group finally arrived, exhausted, at a mountainous area.
"We're here!" Standing on a small hilltop, Wang Sheng's voice was filled with fatigue as he said weakly to Flying Fox.
"Here?" Flying Fox was shocked, looking around blankly, unable to believe his eyes.
The others who heard this were also taken aback. The surroundings were a dense forest, with trees, shrubs, vines, bushes, and tall and short weeds everywhere. Where was there any sign of ruins? Someone immediately asked, disbelievingly.
"Nonsense, if the ruins were the same as where you live, they might as well be called a village. Why call them ruins?" Wang Sheng replied unhappily to the guy's question, then turned to Flying Fox and said, "If your map is correct, the ruins should be within a few dozen miles around here."
"A few dozen miles around?" Flying Fox looked around at the surroundings, his brow furrowed. Searching through a few dozen miles, there weren't enough of them.
But no one could blame Wang Sheng. The map was just a few lines, and the horizontal and vertical scales were wrong. Estimating the exact location based on this map was simply a dream. Only someone like Wang Sheng, who was familiar with the Thousand Desolation Lands, could possibly bring them to the right place. Even so, it was still within a radius of several dozen miles. It was impossible to pinpoint it all at once.
"Are you messing with us?" A master, disbelieving, asked with a suspicious tone.
Although the others didn't speak, they all looked at Wang Sheng with the same doubtful eyes.
"If the map is correct, it should be nearby," Wang Sheng ignored the guy's question and said to Flying Fox. After speaking, he didn't forget to call out to the female boss, "We're here. See how you want to search."
Flying Fox's brow was furrowed into a knot. For a moment, he couldn't bother with what Wang Sheng and the female boss were saying, only looking at the map, not saying a word.
"Living up to his reputation in vain!" Seeing that Wang Sheng was ignoring him, the questioning guy's face changed, and he muttered in a low voice. Although it seemed like he was lowering his voice, his voice was still clearly heard by many people around, including Wang Sheng.
Wang Sheng's gaze suddenly turned cold, staring at the guy for a long while. The questioning guy didn't care and met Wang Sheng's gaze, not backing down at all. And Flying Fox, not far away, for some reason, frowned, as if he hadn't seen what was happening.
Sneering, Wang Sheng finally opened his mouth: "Whether I'm living up to my reputation in vain, you'll know as long as you use your full cultivation and stomp hard on the ground a few times."
Everyone looked down at the ground in unison. However, this area was full of trees and grass, and there was no big difference from the places they had passed along the way. What difference would stomping make?
The questioning person raised his head and secretly glanced at Flying Fox. Although Flying Fox's gaze wasn't looking there, he seemed to have sensed his companion's gaze, and nodded slightly imperceptibly.
Under everyone's gaze, the questioning seventh-level master snorted coldly, raised his leg high, used his full cultivation, and then stomped down hard.
Bang, with a loud noise, the surrounding ground seemed to have been hit by a giant hammer. Wang Sheng, standing so far away, could feel the ground shaking, and the surrounding trees were shaking non-stop, with fallen leaves all over the ground.
However, other than these, there was no other movement. Everyone's doubtful gaze fell on Wang Sheng again.
"Very good, continue," Wang Sheng said with a constant expression, with a bit of teasing. He had just said to stomp a few times, and this was only one stomp. Could it be that these people couldn't count?
The questioning master looked at Wang Sheng, and then at his feet. The ground under his feet had already been stomped into a large pit by the master, revealing various messy tree roots and grass roots underground, nothing special.
With a strong doubt, the questioning master raised his foot again and stomped hard in the same place. After another burst of movement, the questioning master stomped down for the third time.
Rumble, this time it wasn't a bang, but a sound of collapse and subsidence, mixed with a pile of trees falling. The place where the questioning master was standing just now instantly appeared a huge pit.
The person was gone, and the surrounding wood and stones were still collapsing crazily. In a short while, a large pit with a radius of several feet appeared in that place, filled with collapsed stones and fallen trees.
Three masters nearby were affected, but they were lucky. As soon as they collapsed, they realized something was wrong, and quickly jumped up. Although they were brushed by some branches, they were able to get out of that area by using their hands and feet.
But the guy in the middle who stomped his feet couldn't even find a shadow. When everyone came to their senses, they began to try to open the chaotic trees, stones, and sand in a panic.
Those who took action were all masters, each with powerful strength. The large tree trunks were quickly cut into small sections and moved away, and the stones and sand were quickly dug away. But when they dug less than a few feet deep from the bottom of the pit, water gurgled out from below.
As soon as Flying Fox saw the water seeping out, he sighed in his heart, it was over. The person was buried underneath and flooded with water, and there were so many heavy objects pressing on him. No matter how great his ability was, he couldn't use it.
Sure enough, after enduring the soaking and digging for a while, they finally found the person. However, from the collapse to finding the person, it had been nearly half an hour, almost forty minutes. The seventh-level master who questioned Wang Sheng had long been buried with the soil and water, and was out of breath.
With Wang Sheng's current cultivation, he could hold his breath for more than ten or twenty minutes, which was already Wang Sheng's limit. Beyond this limit, Wang Sheng, no matter how great his ability was, could not possibly live. That master's cultivation was much higher than Wang Sheng's, but the incident happened suddenly, and it was not known whether he was able to take a deep breath. In the midst of panic, he still had to make various movements, no matter how powerful he was, it was impossible for him to hold his breath for forty minutes and still have breath.
If it was just sand and soil, it might have been possible, after all, there were gaps in the sand and soil. Unfortunately, the bottom was filled with water, so there was no gap at all.
A dignified seventh-level master was suffocated to death in this Thousand Desolation Lands, without even having the chance to use his extraordinary skills. No, he did use them, at least the few stomps he made were quite powerful.
"Lone Wolf, shouldn't you have an explanation?" Seeing his companion like this, the eyes of the masters of Baoqing Remaining Hall were red, but the discipline was not bad, at least they didn't rush up. Only Flying Fox asked in a bad tone.
