Dragon's Origin

#4 - Big joke

Chapter 3: A Huge Joke

Song Yan and Old Fish Uncle were about to set off on their separate ways, but Wang Sheng didn't immediately follow Song Yan. Instead, he went to the corpse of that young master Dai Huan and rummaged around for a while, collecting everything he thought he could use.

This scene of looting the corpse for spoils left Song Yan and Old Fish Uncle speechless. Old Fish Uncle was in a hurry to report to the elders, so he could only give Song Yan a helpless expression before leaving, leaving Song Yan alone to watch Wang Sheng search all the corpses of the guards, not even sparing the few servants who had died on Song Yan's side.

"What exactly happened? Tell me the quickest and shortest description." While collecting the spoils, Wang Sheng asked Song Yan. Now that he had come to this strange world, he definitely needed to know what kind of world it was and what had happened.

"Young Master Dai wanted to rob me and my family's belongings, you appeared and killed Dai Huan and his followers, that's it." Although Song Yan couldn't stand Wang Sheng's behavior of stripping the dead, she cooperated very well, explaining the whole story in one sentence.

"Is the Dai family more powerful than your family?" Wang Sheng asked, adding an extra question. Actually, he could tell without asking. However, Wang Sheng always felt that there was a problem, especially when he saw that Old Fish Uncle, so he asked the question in his heart.

"Our two families used to be about the same, but recently some things happened to our Song family, so..." Song Yan still didn't go into a long explanation, simply explaining the problem in one sentence.

"What's with those mutually devouring fish? Is that the Yuan Soul?" Wang Sheng took off the outer robe from Dai Huan's body and packed a bunch of things into a large bundle. While tying it up with the sleeves of the robe, he asked. This robe was good, it looked valuable at a glance. Money was needed everywhere, that was common sense.

Wang Sheng had heard about the concept of Yuan Soul from the girl in his dream. Before coming here, Wang Sheng had always thought that it was just a dream world, but now he understood that it was not a dream, but a fact.

"That is the Yuan Soul." Song Yan waited impatiently, but still explained, "It can absorb spiritual energy and can be cultivated. Black is the highest level, nine stars, the one you bumped into is the worst, unranked, without grade." After a pause, she added: "I saw it when you fell into the water, you took a small fish."

Unranked Yuan Soul, Wang Sheng suddenly wanted to laugh. Wang Sheng was not unfamiliar with the concept of Yuan Soul. He had heard the term from the woman in his dream. He knew very well that Yuan Soul only represented aptitude, or future potential, and did not represent real strength. How many highly intelligent people are there on Earth, but not all of them can get high scores, and those with low intelligence are not necessarily poor students.

"Why didn't you act earlier?" Wang Sheng packed his things, stood up and asked, "If you had acted earlier, those people wouldn't have been able to take away that nine-star Yuan Soul."

Song Yan looked at the strange mask and goggles on Wang Sheng's face, as if trying to see something from his eyes, but unfortunately, she couldn't see anything, and could only say dejectedly: "That Soul Refiner and the Seven Iron Guards, if we had acted, we would have died ten times over."

Wang Sheng completely understood. The reason why Song Yan and Old Fish Song were so obedient before was because they were intimidated by the Soul Refiner and the Seven Iron Guards. As soon as they left, they immediately acted mercilessly. This woman was not simple!

"My name is Song Yan." Song Yan waited for Wang Sheng to carry the pile of spoils on his back before introducing herself: "Yan as in mist, what do you call yourself?" Facing a stranger, Song Yan still kept a little secret.

"Wang Sheng!" Wang Sheng had nothing to hide. He had no roots or origin in this world. There was nothing wrong with telling people his name. After speaking, Wang Sheng pulled the mask and goggles onto his helmet, revealing his face.

Song Yan thought she would see Wang Sheng's true face, but what she saw was a face covered in oil paint. She couldn't help shaking her head, turned around and left, and Wang Sheng hurriedly followed.

On the way, Wang Sheng learned about the surrounding situation from Song Yan. This was a remote branch of the Tianhe Song family, and Song Yan herself was not from the main family of the Song family here, but was relying on distant relatives.

Although it was only a remote branch of the Tianhe Song family, Wang Sheng realized when he followed Song Yan to the destination that this place called Shanglin City was only called a town, but the population was no less than 100,000. It was conceivable how huge the real Tianhe Song family was.

Soon, Song Yan's experience confirmed how prescient Wang Sheng's actions of collecting those spoils were.

"Miss Yan, this is not appropriate." A middle-aged man who looked like a housekeeper was putting on airs in front of Song Yan, raising his face and looking at the two with his nostrils, saying: "It's not impossible for our Song family to take in an outsider, but he's a barbarian, so there must be a title, right?"

Wang Sheng's identity as a barbarian had probably been confirmed by everyone. His face was painted so colorfully, and he was wearing such strange clothes, what else could he be but a barbarian?

"He is my fiancé." Song Yan replied to the housekeeper without blushing or skipping a beat.

The housekeeper's eyes widened on the spot, and he was no longer in the same tone as before. He looked at Song Yan, then at Wang Sheng with his face full of patterns, with an incredible expression. However, despite his surprise, he didn't intend to agree so easily, and his head had already started to shake.

"Butler, you've worked hard. This is a little local specialty from my hometown, a small token of my appreciation!" Wang Sheng grinned with a smile, revealing a mouthful of white teeth, and casually took a sword from the dozen or so swords stuck horizontally on the bundle and handed it directly to the housekeeper. Then, he casually touched it and took out a piece of jade pendant, and stuffed it over as well.

The sword was definitely a good sword. How could the sword of the guard next to Dai Huan lose Young Master Huan's face? The jade pendant was even better jade, just this jade pendant was worth several years of income for ordinary people.

The old housekeeper's astonished expression disappeared instantly, and he immediately put on a smiling face: "So it's Cousin-in-law, easy to say, easy to say!"

A single-family courtyard with three rooms was allocated to Wang Sheng, and the housekeeper even generously gave Wang Sheng a share of the clan, with the same standard as Song Yan.

"You are quite clever!" Song Yan looked at Wang Sheng speechlessly, and really didn't expect that moving out her fiancé's name wouldn't work, but this kid solved everything with a sword and a piece of jade pendant.

Helping Wang Sheng find his courtyard, settling the things he carried with him, urging Wang Sheng to wash his face, wiping off all the oil paint on his face, and changing out of that strange clothes, Song Yan nodded in satisfaction: "A very handsome young man, but it's a pity that his hair is too short."

"Young man?" Wang Sheng was a little stunned. He joined the army at the age of eighteen, joined the special forces at the age of twenty-one, completed training at the age of twenty-four, and fought for the country for more than ten years. He was an uncle in his thirties, so how could he be called a young man?

But when Wang Sheng glanced at the bronze mirror next to him, he also noticed something was wrong. His face had actually become so young, as tender as when he joined the army at the age of eighteen. What was going on? Was this another gift she gave him?

As a sniper, he could remain calm no matter what the situation. Wang Sheng quickly accepted this. In any case, it was always a good thing that he became younger, wasn't it?

Next, Wang Sheng mentioned that he wanted to learn more systematically about Yuan Soul and cultivation. Song Yan was too lazy to explain so much to someone who had almost no foundation, so she took Wang Sheng to the Meng School, which was dedicated to explaining Yuan Soul and cultivation to children under the age of ten.

To enter Meng School, of course, you must first test the Yuan Soul star rating. A mirror with handles on both sides allowed Wang Sheng to hold the two handles, and the type and star rating of Wang Sheng's Yuan Soul appeared in the mirror. There was no difference from what Song Yan had estimated, an unranked remnant soul, a carp.

"Get out!" A tutor dressed in tight clothes but with the appearance of a teacher pointed directly at the gate of the Meng School and shouted fiercely: "An unranked waste, and so old, do you deserve to be enlightened?"

The tutor's loud voice alarmed many people in the Meng School. Some curiously poked their heads out of the windows, while others ran quickly to see what the excitement was all about. There were adults, but more were children. This was Meng School, a Meng School that explained Yuan Soul and cultivation to children under the age of ten, so naturally there were more children.

When they heard that an unranked remnant soul waste wanted to be enlightened, everyone present, whether adults or children, burst into laughter. Even those who didn't understand Yuan Soul knew that unranked meant that they could only be the lowest level of ordinary people, let alone a remnant soul, which was really a waste among wastes, and couldn't be worse than this.

In the laughter of adults and children, Song Yan's face was as red as if it was covered with a layer of red cloth, but Wang Sheng, the person involved, was indifferent, curiously looking around, his eyes occasionally flashing inadvertently on a few people.

As a ace sniper, it would be a joke if he didn't even have this level of psychological endurance.

Almost in the "farewell" of the Meng School, Wang Sheng and Song Yan left the Meng School in a mess. There were also many people on the street who heard the commotion and watched. As word spread, more and more people knew about this absurd incident, and the two could only quickly return to Wang Sheng's temporary residence.

In less than half an hour, the whole town spread the news. Miss Song Yan from the Song family brought back a barbarian, said to be her fiancé, and lived in the Song family. As a result, this barbarian fiancé only fused with an unranked remnant soul, and even wanted to enter Meng School to listen to the tutors' enlightenment, which was simply a huge joke. In this peaceful town, this joke brought joy to everyone today.

An unranked remnant soul can actually be Miss Yan's fiancé? Dare to be Miss Yan's fiancé? I don't know how many Song family children who usually admired Song Yan were now in a state of jealousy because their sweetheart was taken away, each with a belly full of anger, rubbing their fists, waiting for an opportunity to give this barbarian who didn't know the immensity of heaven and earth a lesson that he would remember for the rest of his life.
