Dragon's Origin

#47 - One Shot

The bloody scene was most shocking.

Not only the coerced civilians, but even the surviving experts of the Dai family felt a tremor in their hearts, and no one dared to look at Fourth Master Dai at this moment. The entire open space was silent, with only the red clay stove beside the tea-serving maid gurgling.

The Dai family's experts were somewhat better, but at least half of the coerced civilians who saw this scene collapsed to the ground. Many people instantly wet their pants, frightened into incontinence by Fourth Master Dai's pressure and the recent bloodshed.

Even from three or four miles away, Wang Sheng could faintly feel the extraordinary pressure emanating from that direction. The peak of the fourth level was indeed terrifying. He hadn't even made a move yet, but his mere presence was so imposing.

As if sensing something, Song Yan and Wang Sheng simultaneously saw Fourth Master Dai's gaze sweep in their direction, and then in another direction. Fortunately, the distance was far, and he didn't see anything. Fourth Master Dai withdrew his gaze and looked down at the crowd of ant-like people.

"Truly a master!" Wang Sheng's eyes were fixed on Fourth Master Dai's face, as smooth as a young girl's, through the scope. The crosshairs were centered between Fourth Master Dai's eyes. After a sigh of admiration, he muttered, "What a pity!"

Hearing the sound, Song Yan put down her binoculars and curiously looked over. She discovered that Wang Sheng was holding a long, strangely shaped tube with an even stranger short tube on top, pointing it in that direction, seemingly doing something.

"Don't mind the noise later, keep an eye out, don't miss it," Wang Sheng reminded Song Yan, signaling her to watch the foot of the mountain.

Song Yan was completely bewildered. What kind of noise could there be? But she obediently looked down again, after all, holding binoculars for the first time always made people somewhat fond of them.

Wang Sheng reminded Song Yan because he knew that at such close range, Song Yan would definitely hear the gunshot before seeing the bullet hit Fourth Master Dai. Fourth Master Dai would definitely be shot before hearing the gunshot, but being shot would take more than a second. If Song Yan was startled by the gunshot and looked at him, she wouldn't be able to see the headshot spectacle on Fourth Master Dai's side.

Wang Sheng's voice wasn't loud, but Da Er, above, not only heard Wang Sheng and Song Yan's conversation, but also saw the abnormality by the lake. Although he couldn't see as clearly, he could at least see the patch of red-stained lake water.

In order to grasp first-hand information, Da Er not only pushed his abilities to the limit, but also replaced his headgear with two carefully crafted "big ears", even more exaggerated than the small iron pot he wore in Shanglin City. This allowed him to hear distant and quiet sounds more clearly.

Crack, the clear sound of a branch breaking came from behind, but Da Er didn't even raise his head. The familiar footsteps were Da Xiong's, he had seen his hidden mark and followed him.

"How is it?" Da Xiong was about to speak when he saw Da Er make a gesture of silence, and quickly lowered his voice to ask.

Da Er pointed to the open space by the lake at the foot of the mountain with one finger, and supported his "big ears" with the other, listening carefully to Wang Sheng and Song Yan's words. They were about half a mile apart, and without these big ears, it really wouldn't work. This was already Da Er's limit.

"The one with the biggest posture is Fourth Master Dai, right?" Wang Sheng confirmed the target with Song Yan again. At this time, Song Yan had unconsciously acted as Wang Sheng's spotter.

"That's right!" Song Yan gave a definite answer. While answering, she was also drumming in her heart. Fourth Master Dai was so close, if he discovered them, how should they run, and where should they run?

To be honest, Song Yan was a substandard spotter. Apart from confirming the target, she couldn't help with measuring wind speed or temperature at all, so Wang Sheng had to solve it himself.

The sniper rifle had been carefully calibrated before Wang Sheng set off. Wang Sheng didn't feel any changes in gravity after arriving in this world, so the calibrated rifle was still accurate.

He looked at the temperature and humidity displayed on his military watch, used a strip of bark fiber that he had just torn off to determine the wind direction and speed, Wang Sheng simply adjusted the scope, and then put his eyes to the scope again.

Huff huff huff, Wang Sheng breathed rapidly a few times, then held his breath, all his mind focused on the scope, his finger on the trigger, just waiting to fire.

Fourth Master Dai was very satisfied with the effect of his recent killing of the chicken to warn the monkey. At least it seemed that the remaining guards were in a completely different mental state, and no one looked even slightly lazy. This was exactly the effect he wanted. Next, after the memorial for Dai Huan, he would hunt down those two adulterous dogs, leaving them no way to go to heaven and no way to enter the earth.

Suddenly, Fourth Master Dai sensed a trace of unease, like the feeling before danger arrived. Was it killing intent? Fourth Master Dai looked in the direction he vaguely felt, where there were only quiet mountains and dense forests, and nothing could be seen.

Just by simple visual estimation, the distance from the top of the mountain to here was at least three or four miles. It was unlikely that there was any effective means to target him from that far. It was probably just a few of the guards who were outwardly obedient but inwardly disaffected, but dared not show it, forcibly suppressing their dissatisfaction with him. It wasn't a big deal.

Looking at these Dai family guards, Fourth Master Dai opened his mouth: "Young Master Huan..."

Just as Fourth Master Dai opened his mouth, Wang Sheng pulled the trigger. Bang, a gunshot rang out, and a .404 special armor-piercing bullet shot out of the barrel, flying towards Fourth Master Dai's head.

Fourth Master Dai had only said three words, three words that he had gathered his momentum for and spoken slowly, and then there was no then.

With a loud bang, Song Yan was startled. Fortunately, she remembered what Wang Sheng had said, no matter how loud the noise, she had to watch over there, so she didn't take her eyes off the binoculars. Then, she saw a miracle that she would never see again in her life.

Fourth Master Dai's head, far away three or four miles away, suddenly exploded out of thin air. The entire area above the neck completely disappeared. Fourth Master Dai's headless corpse stood upright on the throne for at least three seconds before limply falling forward.

The two maids beside Fourth Master Dai, one holding a sword and the other serving tea, were the first to react. The two girls let out the loudest screams of their lives. After screaming in one breath, they also fainted weakly to the ground due to fear and lack of oxygen.

All the Dai family guards, except for the sixteen experts carrying the throne, all witnessed this scene face to face because they had to watch Fourth Master Dai's speech. In an instant, the Dai family guards were also in chaos.

This shot brought not only Fourth Master Dai's death, but also Da Er, who was eavesdropping on their movements behind Wang Sheng and the others, was the one who suffered the most.

Although the sound of the M200 wasn't as earth-shattering as the Barrett M82A1, it was still a sniper rifle, and the gunshot was extremely loud. If you just listened normally, you would only feel your ears buzzing, and basically nothing would happen.

But Da Er was different. He had the special ability of a big-eared bat, able to hear extremely small sounds from a distance. This led to Da Er pushing his eardrums to the thinnest and most easily vibrated limit. And before, in order to hear Wang Sheng and Song Yan's conversation, he had specially added two artificial big ears to gather sound waves, so Da Er was tragic.

The consequence of a gunshot was that Da Er's eardrums were directly shattered, and blood gurgled out of both ears. Fortunately, Da Er was born as an assassin and could endure what others could not, forcibly enduring and not letting himself scream out to make a noise. However, his ears, on which he relied for tracking, had been completely destroyed. Not to mention being able to hear distant sounds, it was doubtful whether he would be able to hear sounds in the future.

Wang Sheng had no idea that his shot had also solved a hidden tracking trouble for himself. After firing the shot, Wang Sheng quickly pulled the bolt, loaded a bullet, and then observed again, preparing for a second shot if the first shot was ineffective. There was no sniper warfare in this world, and Wang Sheng didn't need to follow the sniper rule of shooting once and changing locations.

Song Yan, the spotter, was simply completely incompetent. Not to mention helping to determine the shooting parameters, she didn't even know how to report the shooting effect. Wang Sheng shook his head secretly in his heart. The amateur was the amateur.

In the scope, Wang Sheng had already seen Fourth Master Dai's headless corpse, confirmed that Fourth Master Dai had been killed by his shot, and then he satisfiedly put on the safety.

Sniper's rule, get a shot and run away immediately. Even if the enemies here don't necessarily have the common sense of counter-snipers, Wang Sheng wouldn't allow himself to make some unnecessary mistakes. Anything else, wait until you move to a safe place to talk.

He patted Song Yan's arm, and Song Yan woke up from the shock, put down the binoculars, and looked at Wang Sheng blankly. Wang Sheng signaled her to leave quickly. Song Yan seemed to have lost her ability to think at this moment, and just followed Wang Sheng numbly, like a puppet, quickly leaving the sniper position.

Before leaving, Wang Sheng suddenly smiled at the highest point where Da Er and Da Xiong were hiding, and with his hand holding the individual combat terminal, he clicked on the "detonate" button on it.

Boom, Da Er and Da Xiong were hiding tightly, Da Xiong was still helping Da Er deal with his injuries, but the ground beside them suddenly exploded.

The huge explosive power directly blasted the two of them several meters high, and then heavily fell to the ground. The anti-personnel mine exploded less than ten centimeters under their feet. The two of them, all over their bodies, didn't know how many holes there were, gurgling blood, but they were dead beyond dead.

The explosion also attracted the attention of the Dai family guards. The previous gunshot had left them all in a daze, but the current explosion woke them all up. Dozens of people drew out their weapons tacitly without saying a word, and frantically rushed up the hilltop where the explosion occurred.

Fourth Master Dai was dead. If they couldn't find the murderer, their hundreds of guards would be completely dead without a burial place. At this time, everyone was red-eyed, and the remaining ones directly killed the coerced civilians.
