Dragon's Origin
#85 - The Split Soul (Part 2)
In this world, no one had ever thought about turning one Yuan Soul into two. Firstly, they lacked such divergent thinking, and secondly, the importance of the Yuan Soul meant no one dared to risk their cultivation.
Only someone like Wang Sheng, from another world, would dare to fantasize about such a thing. Of course, more importantly, Wang Sheng had the support of modern science and technology from Earth. If it were a cultivator from this world, even with the idea, they might not be able to accomplish it so smoothly.
One reason that cannot be ignored is the lone wolf under the tree. The ever-watchful lone wolf put immense pressure on Wang Sheng. If Wang Sheng couldn't quickly improve his strength, he would likely be forced to use firearms before he could outlast the wolf. Once he used firearms, it would attract even more ferocious beasts. If Wang Sheng's strength didn't increase, he wouldn't even have a chance to escape.
Ultimately, the fundamental issue was Wang Sheng's strength. Under this pressure, Wang Sheng was forced into a do-or-die situation. He rashly began splitting his Yuan Soul without carefully considering the consequences for his窍穴 (qiào xué - acupoints/energy points), and he was fortunate to succeed. Otherwise, the ending would have been tragic.
It might seem like Wang Sheng was reckless, but that wasn't the case. Wang Sheng's Yuan Soul was originally transformed from a remnant soul carp, which was, in fact, one of a group of carp Yuan Souls that could devour each other. Essentially, it was originally a split entity, capable of being divided into a hundred parts, so splitting into two was nothing.
It was this fundamental basis that allowed Wang Sheng to be so reckless. Of course, the result was as Wang Sheng expected, completing the Yuan Soul split relatively easily.
However, after the split, Wang Sheng immediately stopped. He didn't want his Yuan Soul to become two remnant souls after splitting, so he needed to carefully examine them.
The battle consciousness little man had been observing the entire process. When the Yuan Soul split was complete and Wang Sheng was examining them, he jumped out and observed the two Yuan Souls for a long time before returning to his corner, seemingly pondering something.
The two Yuan Souls appeared to have no issues. They absorbed spiritual energy as usual, and there were no incomplete parts. They were normal Yuan Souls.
Wang Sheng breathed a sigh of relief, and his consciousness returned to reality from the Yuan Soul space. He looked at his watch and realized that eight or nine hours had passed without him noticing, and his stomach was growling with hunger.
He poked his head out of the treehouse and saw that the lone wolf was still guarding under the tree, but its eyes seemed to hold a hint of doubt. When it saw Wang Sheng's head appear, it immediately became fierce and stern again.
Wang Sheng ate his fill, ignored the lone wolf under the tree, and entered a meditative state again, his consciousness returning to the Yuan Soul space.
Splitting the Yuan Soul was not Wang Sheng's ultimate goal. Splitting meant dispersing power, and Wang Sheng didn't want his attack power to be insufficient or his physical condition to be poor during battle due to the split Yuan Soul. Therefore, after successfully splitting, Wang Sheng needed to recombine the Yuan Souls.
Relatively speaking, this was much simpler. Wang Sheng had personally witnessed the scene of a hundred Yuan Soul carp devouring each other to merge into one, and with the experience of successfully splitting the Yuan Soul, merging them was even easier.
Wang Sheng certainly wouldn't use the devouring method to merge them. Regardless of the method of devouring, there would always be a process of strength differences and digestion, during which some spiritual energy would inevitably be lost. Wang Sheng was unwilling to lose the spiritual energy he had worked so hard to absorb, so the merging process absolutely couldn't use such an inefficient method.
Since they were directly cut into two and grew separately when splitting, Wang Sheng used the simplest and most brutal method for merging: forcibly fusing them. He brought the two Yuan Souls close together and forcefully squeezed them into each other's bodies.
Originally, the spiritual energy was from the same source and existed in Wang Sheng's Yuan Soul space, so the fusion of the two Yuan Souls was a natural process. Soon, the two Yuan Souls merged together, gradually integrating with each other. In Wang Sheng's perception, it only took less than half an hour to return to one.
The merged Yuan Soul looked completely unchanged from before, far from the strange changes caused by forced devouring. It was normal to think so, after all, all the changes occurred in Wang Sheng's Yuan Soul space, unlike that lake where slight differences in the environment would cause the size of the Yuan Soul split to be different. Wang Sheng's situation was completely incomparable.
After splitting into two and then merging into one, Wang Sheng checked up and down, left and right, front and back, many times, and found no problems. Only then did he return to reality from his meditative state with a happy mood. He looked at the time and realized it was already midnight.
The lone wolf was still under the tree, its walnut-sized eyes glowing with green light, like two small green lanterns. This guy was really patient, sticking with Wang Sheng.
Wang Sheng ignored it, took a cautious nap, and opened his eyes to find it was dawn.
Yesterday, Wang Sheng successfully split and then merged his Yuan Soul in one day and one night. Today, the task was simple: to familiarize himself with these two processes, the faster the better.
The lone wolf under the tree was obviously in a state of great confusion. In its eyes, the little guy on the tree sometimes became stronger and sometimes weaker, sometimes stronger and sometimes weaker, unpredictable, making it unable to understand what was happening. However, the lone wolf was convinced of one thing: the guy on the tree would eventually be its food.
For an entire day and night, Wang Sheng practiced splitting and merging his Yuan Soul. Wang Sheng wasn't greedy, he didn't immediately split his Yuan Soul into more parts, but only split it into two and then merged it into one. The time spent on the process became shorter and shorter, and Wang Sheng became more and more proficient in splitting and merging his Yuan Soul.
During practice, Wang Sheng also discovered a very interesting phenomenon: when Wang Sheng split his Yuan Soul into two, the lone wolf under the tree would show a very puzzled look. After several times, Wang Sheng realized that his Yuan Soul split might give people the illusion that his strength had decreased.
This was a very good disguise. If Wang Sheng didn't want the whole world to search for him to discover the secret of upgrading a non-入流 (bù rù liú - non-ranked/unrated) Yuan Soul, he only needed to split his Yuan Soul into multiple parts, constantly giving people the impression that he was of non-入流 strength, and the rumors would naturally disappear without a trace.
Having spent five days and five nights with that lone wolf, and with Wang Sheng's prepared food completely exhausted, Wang Sheng finally made the decision to face this lone wolf.
For five days and five nights, the wolf below had only drunk some dew nearby, and its body was already extremely hungry. After confirming that the wolf's body had become noticeably thinner, Wang Sheng took out a special energy bar from his Naring and threw it down, landing right in front of the lone wolf.
