Eagle of the Valley of Ice and Fire

Chapter 238 Out of Control

The road to the church was quickly occupied by the golden robes. Bronn wore expensive and gorgeous heavy armor, shaved his beard and trimmed his hair. He rode a tall horse and set off at the front of the team.

The Kingsguard stood on both sides of the carriage, looking vigilantly at the street. There was a constant noisy noise, and the civilians cast all kinds of eyes on him. After all, it was rare for the royal family to dispatch so many people at once.

There was no cheering when the king's carriage passed by. Joffrey tactfully sealed the window of the carriage a little more. He couldn't stand the mocking and secret language of a group of unruly people.

Jaime clearly heard the words "incest" and "Maegor the Reincarnation" in these whispers. He moved his head slightly to look at the crowd. He could interpret even the eyes of children as accusations, although Jaime knew that the eyes of these civilians were more curious.

The noise in the crowd was soon covered by the overwhelming cheers, and the name "Barristan the Fearless" echoed in the air in the streets.

Jaime breathed a sigh of relief. At least there was one Kingsguard under King Joffrey who was very popular.

Most ignorant civilians might not know the king's name, or even his surname. Bronn told him that many criminals in Flea Bottom still thought it was still the Targaryen era. What was even more puzzling was that the criminals knew that the king's name was Joffrey, but they called him Joffrey Targaryen.

Following this sellsword did allow him to learn a lot of worldly stereotypes and knowledge.

But a careful count of the number of Kingsguards showed that it was not complete. There were only five, and one person was missing, except for Boros Blount, who was imprisoned in the dungeon of the Red Keep for failing to protect Tommen.

Barristan shook his helmet and looked around.

"Where is Ser Meryn?" Barristan asked.

Before the other sworn brothers could answer, the laughter in the crowd soared to the sky.

A figure was pushed out of the crowd by hands and feet, and laughter surrounded him.

He took off his helmet, and awkwardly pulled off the banana peel that had been thrown on his head at some point, half-bending, "Sorry, sorry, sir, I..."

Before Barristan could respond, the voices of the common people behind him were already ringing.

"Did you like the girl last night? Ser Banana Peel!"

"I saw with my own eyes that he slept with a pig!"

"Ser Boar?"

"And a white pig! A monster has sneaked into the Kingsguard!"

Marian Trant blushed, but he didn't dare to act too rashly in front of Barristan.

"Join the team," Barristan clearly expressed his contempt even through the gap in his visor, "You are a coward and a bastard who broke his oath. It's not a pity even if you take off your white robe!"

The king may not have heard Barristan's voice, but the common people in King's Landing heard it clearly.

"Fearless Barristan!"

Another overwhelming cheer.

"I..." Merin Trant raised his head, and the redness on his face made him look like a fat pig. "This is slander, slander from ignorant civilians. A qualified knight will uphold justice..."

"Get on your horse and join the team!" Barristan said in a scolding tone.

Merin Trant didn't know where he got the courage from, and shouted loudly, "Your Majesty! I just found a traitor among the civilians!"

The noise of the team had long attracted Joffrey's attention. He opened the window and looked at Merin Trant, who was in a mess and looked like he had just sobered up. Joffrey was most dissatisfied with this outfit.

"Give me an explanation, Sir Merin, an explanation that won't let your head hang on the city wall." Joffrey smiled unconsciously when he said "heads hanging on the city wall".

Merin knew what kind of character the king he served was. He swallowed, drew out his sword, put it on his knees, and half-knelt on the ground.

"Your Majesty, it's a troupe of actors, for your..." Meryn Trant lowered his head skillfully, with a look of fear on his face.

Jaime frowned, a bastard who fawned on the powerful, he expected that something bad might happen.

"You'd better go and see it yourself..." Meryn Trant swung his sword and pointed it at the crowd behind him. The civilians were afraid of his sword and hurried to make way.

Jaime said, "Joffrey, your brother's matter is important..."

But Joffrey interrupted him, "Call me king, even though you are my uncle," he shouted at Barristan, "Protect your king! I want to get off the car!"

The golden robes hurried over and protected both sides of the direction of the king's travel. The servants opened the carriage and Joffrey jumped out.

"Tommen can see it at any time. The traitors of the kingdom cannot be caught in a moment." Joffrey held the sword at his waist tightly and said to Jaime, with a childish tone.

Jaime frowned, but still followed behind Joffrey.

Barristan held his hand, "Stay here, the queen's carriage is behind."

Jaime nodded slightly, paused in place, and watched Barristan follow the king away.

The stage not far away was obviously built in a hurry, and the actors on the wooden stage chased and ran around the Iron Throne.

"I am the eldest son of King Robert! Destined to inherit the Iron Throne!"

The first actor said the line, obviously playing Joffrey.

"No! You are not, you incestuous bastard, the bastard of the Lannister siblings, I am the heir to the Iron Throne!"

"Stannis" stared at the antlers and stood up, holding his head high.

"Humph! Ambitious Stannis, he is my Lannister's seed! The Iron Throne should be my lion's throne!"

A shrill female voice came out, and Queen Mother "Cersei" opened her clothes and exposed her breasts, "What do you think! My people! My loyal subjects!"

"King Joffrey!" The audience shouted playfully, and some even whistled.

"Huh? Mother! Am I not Robert's son?"

"Joffrey" frowned and winked at the audience, looking like a complete clown.

"No, my son," Queen Mother "Cersei" said gently, "You are the son of Jaime and me, and your blond hair is the proof."

The audience laughed and laughed. Although some people objected that Princess Myrcella seemed to have black hair, the audience who were watching the joke had no time to pay attention to it. Their attention was all on the troupe.

The cheers and laughter of the crowd concealed a huge anger, and Joffrey's face almost turned red.

"Traitors! All of them are traitors! Ser Meryn, Barristan, arrest everyone present, chop off their heads and tongues! Quick!"

"Your Majesty, this..." Barristan hurriedly stopped him, but Meryn Trant had already drawn his sword and stepped forward, slashing a spectator.

The golden cloaks quickly surrounded him, the swords were blind, and the blood and flesh almost blurred Barristan's vision.

"Your Majesty! This is a massacre! King Robert will definitely not..."

Joffrey stretched out his hand to slap Barristan away, pointing at his face, "Never, ever mention my father in front of me!"

The king's eyes were full of bloodshot, and Barristan was stunned in the spot, the massacre was still going on, and screams were heard everywhere.

Somewhere in the tall building, Varys rubbed his fingers, he didn't expect the power of the sparrow to be so great.
