Eagle of the Valley of Ice and Fire

Chapter 92 The Eagle of the Twins

Drops of drizzle fell on the Green Fork River, and the water surface rippled. The sound of "crash" was like a chorus of music, playing in front of Attis Arryn.

"Can any minstrel sing the sound of rain given by the gods?" Attis asked, looking at the raindrops falling continuously in front of the window.

Marvin Belmore, the captain of the Eyrie City Guards appointed by his father, had been guarding Lysa Tully in the Eyrie City, and was now summoned to the Twins by Attis.

The captain of the guard is fully armed, wearing the gorgeous armor favored by the Canyon Knights. The blue cloak embroidered with the crescent falcon of the Arryn family is draped behind him, and the purple-backed silver bell emblem of the Belmore family is embroidered on the chest.

"I had the pleasure of hearing minstrels sing about the storm in which you were born, and the rare thunder in the Eyrie," said Marvin Bellmore.

Attis closed his eyes lightly, "What does it feel like?"

Marvin frowned slightly, as if he was trying to remember.

"I suppose," said Marvin, "the rhythm of the singer's drumming is a lot like rain and thunder, Duke."

Attis smiled at this answer, "I should like to hear the minstrel of whom you speak sing this."

Seeing that his answer made the Duke smile, Marvin felt a little happy in his heart. He continued: "I heard that the bard is now in Lannister Port. If you want to hear it, Duke, I can."

"Just talking," Attis said, "Frey has a lot of singers in the Twins City, and they sing well."

Marvin nodded. It seemed that the Duke wanted to hear the singer sing. He could inform the servants in the Twins City about tonight's dinner.

"Ange," said Attis, "he is with Robert in the King's Road."

"Suppress the bandits in the riverlands, Duke." Marvin replied.

Attis nodded and stood up, "It's time to clear the place and welcome some distinguished guests." He walked towards the door of the main hall, followed by Marvin.

Bachelor Bennett hurried over, "Duke Attis! Duke Attis!" His fat face looked very greasy.

"Bachelor." Attis said calmly. Bennett was a bachelor serving the Twins. After Frey lost power, he immediately took the Twins' account books and records of various logistics materials, as well as the Frey family's transactions. The entire letter was revealed to Attis, who acquiesced to his continued service at the Twins.

"Okay, okay, first of all, the letter from Riverrun." Bachelor Bennett was a little breathless and handed the unopened letter to Attis.

Artis glanced at the black trout sealing wax on it and said, "Brynden's letter."

"It appears so, my lord." Maester Bennett said after taking a breath.

Artis handed the letter to Marvin Bellmore who was standing aside, and glanced at Bennett, "Is there anything else?" He saw that Bennett had more than one letter in his hand.

"There is also a letter, Lord," Bennett handed it to Attis. "A letter from Lord Stannis on Dragonstone."

The crowned stag on the envelope was very complete. Attis sighed softly. He had received a letter from Renly before. Robert's youngest brother told all the information one by one. Eddard was trapped in the Red Keep, and Renly Highgarden He married Little Rose, proclaimed himself king and raised an army, and in the name of the so-called king, he legalized the entire Green Fork River area, including Harrenhal, Twin River City, and even the Saltworks Town next to the crossroads, to the Eagle's Nest City, hoping that he could support him.

Stannis's letter is most likely about claiming kingship and asking for allies.

"I understand," Artis motioned to Marvin Belmore to put away the letter, "Robb Stark, where is he?"

"We've passed the Neck and are very close to the Twins," said Marvin Bellmore.

Attis nodded and said nothing. The Royce family, who was a family friend of the Stark family, had already brought people to greet him. With his consent, Yohn Royce went north in person with fifty guards. Robb Stark takes over.

Many of the ancestors' nobles in the valley had many contacts and marriages with the North. This is also an important reason why the Arryn family, as the rulers of the valley, has always maintained friendship with the North despite being of Andal blood.

Marvin followed Attis to the study. The captain of the Eagle's Nest City guard put the letter on the table, turned around, guarded the door, and closed the door tightly.

Adam, the shadow lynx, had grown very strong. He leaned against the wall, hissed, and crawled over lightly when Attis came in.

Attis gently stroked the soft hair on Adam's head, "The Twins have fattened you up, haven't they?"

Attis sat at his desk and opened the first letter, Blackfish's letter.

Edmure Tully and Catelyn Stark are coming to the Twins to apologize to themselves. The timing is perfect. Attis thought of Robb Stark, who was about to lead his troops, and the many valley nobles who were close to Stark.

Attis looked appreciative, and he was indeed a black fish. Even in political games, which he claimed to have never been good at, he was not inferior to his brother Hoster Tully.

He didn't know if Old Trout was still in the West, whether he was alive or dead.

He pushed the letter aside and opened another letter, Stannis' letter.

"The princes of the Vale should follow the sacred laws of the Seven Gods, follow in the footsteps of King Stannis, and eliminate the incestuous children on the Iron Throne."

Attis smiled slightly, as expected of Stannis.

Attis didn't read the rest of the content, just threw it aside, closed his eyes, and listened to the rain outside the window.

He thought of the letter Stannis had sent to him before, regarding the accusation that Cersei had given birth to an illegitimate child in incest. That series of accusations seemed very convincing. If the accusation was true, it would indeed be the most beneficial to Stannis.

Edard's series of actions in King's Landing seemed to alarm Cersei. King Robert died, Eddard was trapped in the Red Keep, and was accused of regicide.

He remembered his impression of Queen Cersei. This should be something she could do.

This series of reactions can indeed confirm Stannis's accusation from the side.

He smiled self-deprecatingly. As the Duke of the Eyrie, he didn't want to get involved in these things. The number of soldiers in the Vale was not large, and they were few and elite. Fortunately, with the acquiescence of King Robert, the soldiers of the Riverlands were attracted by the Westerland Army, and they quickly captured Harrenhal and the Twins. Otherwise, even if the Knights of the Valley were brave and fearless, the war between the two guardian families would inevitably cause heavy losses to the Vale.

But Eddard Stark was trapped, and he had to express something. The friendship of the Vale nobles for Eddard Stark, the friendship of the elders, always touched the nerves of the Duke of the Vale.

After the Bleeding Gate, it seems that the pressure he bears is much greater than staying in the Vale of Arryn and fighting against the wildlings.

"Duke, Miss Roslin wants to see you." Marvin said.

Artis opened his eyes, "Let her in."

A beautiful figure flashed in his eyes, "Duke," Roslin Frey bowed slightly, holding soup in her hand. Although she had seen it many times, she still looked at the shadow mountain cat looking at her with some fear, "This is the soup I made for you."

Adam licked his paw gently and ignored Roslin's hot soup.

"Thank you, Miss Roslin." Artis smiled slightly and nodded to Roslin.

Seeing Artis drink the hot soup, Roselin looked at him expectantly, "This is... I learned it from the chef in the kitchen. I hope the Duke will like it."

"I like it very much," Artis drank another mouthful of hot soup, "It's really delicious. You are very skillful, Miss Roselin."

When Roselin heard this, she felt a burst of joy in her heart. She gently stroked the gauze on her hands, "Really? I am honored that you like it, Duke Artis."

"Maybe in the evening." Artis said.

Roselin didn't understand, "Duke?"

"Maybe in the evening, you can make this bowl of soup for me again, Miss Roselin." Artis said with a smile.

Roselin understood the Duke of Artis's intention, "Okay, my lord, I will make soup for you."
