Exploiting Hollywood 1980

Chapter 176 The opening ceremony should include break dancing

The next afternoon, Ronald and Brooke arrived early at the Los Angeles Memorial Stadium to attend the Olympic opening ceremony.

This was a stadium built for the first Olympic Games in 1932. After being renovated this year, it can accommodate 93,000 spectators.

The packed stadium made people feel very small inside. Ronald looked up at the broadcast camera. This kind of big scene also needs to be directed. This time the Olympic organizing committee invited David Walper, the director of the famous TV series "Roots".

The stadium was very large, and Brooke's seat was in the VIP seats very close to the front, and Ronald's ticket was just behind her and not far above her.

Because the organizing committee had promised in advance that they would give Pooji a shot, the two agreed to wait until Pooji finished her mission before sneaking up to meet Ronald.

Ronald found his seat by himself, right next to the aisle on the second floor of the stands. The view here was very good, but there was a tall red-necked man in front of him, wearing a sun hat, a pair of tattered shorts, and a very old pair. His shoes were very sloppy, and he looked like a homeless man on the streets of Los Angeles.

Ronald wanted to change seats and made a noise. The red neck in front heard it and turned his head.

"Ronald, what a coincidence that you are also in the stands?"

"Steven, what's wrong with you? Why are you dressed like this?" Ronald discovered that the homeless man was actually Spielberg whom he met at the airport yesterday.

"Shh, I want to watch the opening ceremony quietly and don't want to be recognized by reporters."

"Oh," Ronald flipped to the next row and sat next to him. The two of them pointed at the chairman's box opposite.

"Is that the commander-in-chief?"

"The one next to me seems to be Olympic Committee President Juan Antonio Samaranch."

"That one in the back is Prince Charles of Britain?"

"It seems like his wife didn't come?"

"I read in the newspaper that my second child is about to be born."

"How many cameras did you see?"

"Six, right? Maybe a helicopter for aerial photography."

The two watched and discussed the program arrangements. They are all directors. For this opening ceremony, a large-scale theatrical performance was arranged for the first time.

Both were very interested.

"oh!"

The two directors let out an exclamation, and two aerialists dressed as astronauts flew from the sky. There was no wire suspension, they relied entirely on the compressed air on their backs to descend, and slowly landed in the stadium.

"Beep beep..." A whistle sounded, and young people in white clothes in the stadium formed several piles. The balloons they held formed the word "Welcome".

"How did you get these young people? It must be very troublesome to rehearse." Ronald became interested.

"I heard that we found high school student volunteers in Los Angeles and rehearsed for more than two months."

Group gymnastics began to change again. Separated and closed, they turned into flowers.

A young girl wearing a white hat walked down the aisle and gave flowers to all the audience.

"Mr. Spielberg?" The girl recognized the famous director.

"Shh," Spielberg gestured to her. The girl is no longer bothered.

"Mr. Samaranch, President of the United States of America, First Lady, and President of the International Olympic Committee." The loudspeaker began to introduce the guests on the rostrum.

As the American national anthem and the special background music "Salute to the Commander-in-Chief" were played by the live band, the group gymnastics below began to change their formations. Sometimes it's a rhombus, sometimes it's a circle.

Then they released the balloons in their hands, and hundreds of balloons flew outside the venue, telling everyone in Los Angeles that the opening ceremony had begun.

The live band played a compilation of historical famous songs from Hollywood and Broadway, and the group gymnastics below began to change between marches, and finally turned into a five-ring shape.

Ronald applauded. It seemed that America's mass group gymnastics was also doing well, no worse than Moscow's last year.

The network broadcast the camera and began scanning the runway for guest stars in the front row. The camera caught Brooke Shields, and she made a cute scissor hand towards the camera.

"This is Brooke Shields, a famous college student from our famous university, a model, a movie star, and a top student at Princeton." The host in the studio began to joke.

As the opening ceremony's artistic performances progressed, group exercises began to form the shape of the American map again, and caravans drove in.

Then group gymnastics turned into steamships, which turned into churches.

This is telling the history of America. Many extras rushed in, and the team gymnasts opened colorful curtains to simulate the stained glass on the church windows.

A choir of several black men began to sing.

Ronald understood that this was a gesture of racial solidarity.

Next was a modern song and dance performance, and the theme song "Fame" from "Famous" was reminded of the scene.

Ronald smiled. The lead singer, Irene Kara, can now continue to sing her famous songs on the TV station.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games is said to be watched by hundreds of millions of people on television. If you can look familiar here, it will be a blessing.

"beat it, beat it", the song turned to the famous song from MJ's new album. The audience began to shout MJ's name enthusiastically. He did not appear at the opening ceremony to sing live, which made many people regretful.

"There is a puzzle board under each audience's seat. The audience is asked to raise the puzzle board and gather it into the national flags of the major participating countries."

Ronald reached under the seat, took out a large yellow puzzle board, and held it above his head. "Please hold for ten seconds."

Ronald looked around and found that the puzzle pieces of his stand were lifted up to form the national flag of New China. This was really an unexpected surprise. He had no idea in advance that the organizing committee had done this.

"Three...two...one..." Thank you everyone.

Ronald put down the puzzle.

"John Williams, please," the host called.

"John, is he a live band host?" Spielberg took out a bottle of water and handed it to Ronald.

John Williams, who composed the music for such masterpieces as Star Wars, E.T., and Superman, picked up the baton and began to direct the live band to play the Olympic theme song.

The mayor of Los Angeles took over the Olympic flag, and then the athletes entered the stadium.

"Steven, can you talk about your views on the level of directing live theatrical performances? Also, can I appear in your et.al. aliens sequel?"

The girl who presented the flowers told the broadcast team what she had discovered, and the broadcast team immediately sent a female reporter with a wireless microphone with a large antenna to interview Spielberg.

"The director of this opening ceremony has redefined the word legendary." Spielberg tugged on the antenna on the reporter's hat again, "Well, you look good as an alien."

"Hahaha, what do you think of the live song and dance performance, and what do you think of John Williams' conductor?"

"You have to ask my friend Ronald Lee for his opinion. He is the director of the hit movie 'Break Dance.'"

The reporter quickly pulled over the wireless microphone.

"Unparalleled," Ronald flattered him first. "The arrangement of the organizing committee is very good, showing all the major events since the founding of America. There are also songs by our superstar, MJ."

"Do you think MJ should come to the opening ceremony?" The reporter continued following the question.

"We are all looking forward to it. His songs are great, and it would be even better if we could see him perform his famous break dance moonwalk."

"Yeah!" Bo Ji perfunctoryly finished the scene. When the reporter finished the interview, she climbed up to the stands above to meet Ronald.

"Here, the athletes are entering," Spielberg said to the entrance of the stadium, loosening his visor.

"Greece is at the forefront!" The country represented by the sports team was announced in French and English.

One sports team after another walked in.

"Canada! They sent a huge delegation of more than three hundred people."

"Huh?" The Canadian delegation was still moving forward, and Ronald suddenly heard a burst of familiar music.

“Every revolutionary soldier must remember,

Three major disciplines and eight points of attention. "

Ronald couldn't help but sing.

"Yeah? Do you speak Chinese?" Spielberg recognized that Ronald was singing in Chinese.

"Learned a little bit," Ronald stared at the entrance.

At the head was a very tall flag bearer, who entered the stadium with a five-star red flag. The athletes behind were wearing blue tops, white pants, and skirts, and walked in neatly.

"yeah!"

When the Chinese sports team entered the stadium, the spectators who passed by stood up and applauded. This is a tribute to them for being able to withstand the pressure of the Sovereign League and compete for the sake of friendship and Olympic spirit.

Ronald also leaned forward and clapped to the rhythm of the revolutionary song.

"This is a mysterious country. If I have a chance, I will definitely go there to make a movie." Spielberg was also very excited.

"High jump, gymnastics, and women's volleyball. These are the events in which they have the potential to win medals." The host was announcing.

"Women's volleyball team, high jump, what else? Gymnastics?" Ronald secretly wrote down.

The entrance ceremony took a long time, and Poky was already leaning on Ronald's shoulder, so sleepy that she couldn't open her eyes.

Finally waited for the opening session.

Olympic Committee President Juan Antonio Samaranch invited the current leader of the host country to announce the opening of the Olympic Games.

"God bless America." Samaranch finally used these words to pay tribute to the host country. The two previous Olympic Games caused huge losses. Fortunately, this time the chairman of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee, Ueber Ross, is a capable person. Businessmen, by selling sponsorship and broadcast rights, are expected to profit from the Olympics, arguably saving the international Olympic movement.

"I declare the opening of the 23rd Modern Olympic Games in Los Angeles!"
